This initiating, sensitive, and purifying Full Moon shifting patterns occurs at 7:20 pm PDT July 1, 3:20 am BST July 2, and falls at the 10th degree of Cancer and Capricorn. As with all Full Moons, use the light you’ve been seeing and expressing since the New Moon, and give it form and focus through how you’ve purified yourself since early 2012.
Today’s Full Moon post will be an overview of the Lunation and some of its primary qualities. In parts 2 and 3 we’ll cover the Sabian Symbols, aspects, distributions, and patterns.
We’ve now entered many months where the Full Moon Sun is not the same as the Sun sign of the previous New Moon. I’ll explain the importance of this later in this article. Because the New Moon preceding the Full Moon always represents the seed forms that are brought to surface at and after the Full Moon, please check out the recent New Moon articles The New Moon in Gemini Pt. 1 - What’s Happening in June-July 2015 as well as The New Moon in Gemini Pt. 2 - Signs, Sabian Symbols, and What It All Means.
An Overview
This Full Moon helps us all turn a big corner relative to the Wisdom that has come into our lives these past 3 months. This chart doesn’t have many aspects, but the ones it has are extraordinarily powerful, productive, conflicted, and purifying to the core. This one shows us the value of the training we’ve done over the past 6 months, since Venus is now on the degree (23 Leo) where Jupiter went stationary retrograde in December 2014.
This anticipates Jupiter moving back over 23 Leo in the next few days, bringing completion and renewal to those lessons. By September we’ll be in the heart of showing what we know about this “world servant in a master’s training class,” since Mercury brings the news in early August and the Sun powers it up in mid-August. With Venus dancing back and forth over this degree until early October, enjoy and appreciate the heart and/or creative training you’ve done since last December!
Is the Grand Irrationality A Factor in this Full Moon?
The Grand Irrationality, along with the other non-rational configurations that happen off and on, indicate that we’ve been living in an era of very heavy decisions determining the future destiny of humanity since 1993. To refresh you, the Grand Irrationality is a long wave configuration set into motion every time a planet makes a conjunction, septile, biseptile, or triseptile to Neptune and Pluto. Septile series aspects show us points in time when our future destiny is precipitated by critical choices made in the present.
Recent lunations brought the Grand Irrationality front and center in global and individual affairs through Jupiter going stationary direct in triseptile to both Neptune and Pluto. That implies recent weeks have shown humanity at critical forks in the road of destiny wherever this configuration is active in national and individual charts. It’s been activated any time any of the transiting planets moved through the seven affected zones.
This has been part of the “Buddha Wisdom” coming forth as the core of a new world teaching for this year. So I guess it’s safe to say the rest of this year will be extremely important in terms of hitting forks in the road of destiny!
Because this configuration involves Neptune and Pluto, the outermost spiritual planets, they show a long wave evolutionary crisis for the entire human race. Since 1993, at one point or another, everyone on Earth has experienced a nonstop energy of having to choose, at the bottom of our beings, the path to evolution or devolution, progress or regress, love or fear, joy or control. It’s why things have been so weird, irrational, and hard-edged.
At this time, the current seven “hot zone” spans that trigger the Grand Irrationality are approximately 11-15 Leo, 2-6 Libra, 23-27 Scorpio, 14-18 Capricorn, 6-10 Pisces, 27 Aries- 1 Taurus, and 19-23 Gemini.
We’re now out of the time period of the year when Neptune is in close septile to Pluto, which is the main aspect anchoring the Grand Irrationality. Right now Neptune is 55 degrees and 20 minutes away from Pluto, so they’re too wide to be in septile.
At this time, the Grand Irrationality gains strength as we move through Autumn and Winter, and will again lessen in strength in the late Winter into the Spring and Summer. As I’ve explained in other articles, that means that in the Autumn and Winter (in the Northern Hemisphere) they operate as a simultaneous “pulse,” since they’re both aspected near the same time. But in the Spring and Summer we experience it as a rolling influence, with first Pluto aspected, and then Neptune at some time after that, depending on which planet is doing the aspect to these planets.
Important Factors
This Lunation brings us a mixed bag of forming aspects which I’ll discuss in parts 2 & 3. Besides the Moon conjunct and Sun opposed Pluto and barely separating sextile and trine to Neptune, we also have Mars opposed Pluto adding fuel to the opposition!
Other aspects include Mercury sextile the Venus/Jupiter conjunction and Uranus, Venus semisquare Mars and square Saturn (anticipating the Jupiter square Saturn a few weeks from now.) Moving on, the Sun is novile Jupiter and binovile Uranus, an extremely spiritualizing configuration that shows a lot that’s been postponed before now is finally in motion.
Mars is semisquare Jupiter, biquintile Saturn, trine Neptune, and opposed Pluto, so it’s very active! Moving into the social-transpersonal level of life, the rest of the outers make some subtle aspects that show us how to overcome dualities through making leaps of faith, and in doing so we attain forms of mastery over duality.
In this Full Moon, the span occupied by the inner planets (in this chart Mercury in Gemini through Venus in Leo) is 62+ degrees, and includes three signs. This month we have the 10 traditional planets occupying 7 signs, but in a very widespread and irregular distribution.
This Lunation, along with the inner planets, have been cruising in the span outside the Saturn in Scorpio through Uranus in Aries long term occupied span. Because they’re so spread out in clusters, we find ourselves in a time of the planets being in a “Splay” Jones pattern. During these months we are confronting several different types of patterns, including “Locomotive,” “Splay,” and “Splash” chart patterns
So What is a “Splay Pattern” and how does it work?
Due to the way the planets are irregularly spread out among the signs, this type of spread which features all the planets in odd angles to each other with differing distributions among the signs, creates a “Splay” Jones Pattern. As Marc Jones put it, “the arrangement is neither even nor symmetrical,” revealing “strong and sharp aggregations of the planets at irregular points.”
Dr. Jones states “This suggests highly individual or purposeful emphases in the life, where the temperament juts out into experiences according to its own very special tastes.” This pattern “makes its own anchorage in existence,” and has a quality of “rugged resistance to pigeonholing, either in the near conventional compartments of nature, or in the idea-pockets of associates.”
He goes on to state this pattern gives a “persistent emphasis on individuality,” and the “spokelike emphases of the planetary groupings” are random, but have a “tripod” footing and approach to life circumstances. He says this pattern “reveals a very intensive personality who cannot be limited to any single steady point of application.” This temperament is “particular and impersonal in its interests,” rather than “universal-impersonal” or “particular-personal.”
This implies that affairs will be diversely spread out, some will not mesh well with others, and there will be a “hub and spoke" quality to what happens these next 4 weeks. This spread shows a wide diversity of things going on that promotes individuality.
Is the Sun Following the Moon, or the Moon Following the Sun?
After 19 Full Moons in another relationship, this is the fifth Full Moon where the Sun falls in a different sign than the Sun of the previous New Moon. We’ve now completed the “normal” pattern we last experienced between September 2010 and June 2012, and have begun the “reversed pattern” we last experienced between June 2012 and August 2013, where the Full Moon Sun was in a different sign than the previous New Moon.
As I've explained in previous Full Moon articles,
... the Full Moon being in a subsequent sign than the previous New Moon indicates that what is released as realizations in the Full Moon period actually "prepares the ground" for the coming New Moon seed. Strange reversal of function, since you would think the New Moon provides the seed for the next Full Moon. But this set of Lunations works the opposite way....Another way to look at this is the Sun sign of the Full Moon is the same as and precedes the Sun sign of the next New Moon, reversing the usual way Lunations work. So the fulfillment of the Full Moon sets up the next "seed" to be revealed at the next New Moon....
The last time we had the New Moon Sun in the sign previous to the next Full Moon Sun was June 2012. That began the reversed experience from the “normal” New Moon-Full Moon cycle. We had an illuminated form shown to us at the Full Moon, followed by the Sun being in the same sign as the previous Full Moon. This is fulfillment followed by similar Solar seeds of potential while reversing the natural process.
To illustrate, the January 11, 2013 New Moon Sun was at 22 Capricorn, while the next Full Moon Sun was at 8 Aquarius. The February 10, 2013 New Moon Sun was at 22 Aquarius, while the next Full Moon Sun was at 8 Pisces. This continued through the June 8 New Moon at 19 Gemini, while the next Full Moon Sun was at 3 Cancer.
This “reversed Sun sign” phenomenon ended then, and we went back to the “normal” sequence of Lunation Sun signs. In August 2013 we had a New Moon Sun at 15 Leo on August 6-7, and then the Full Moon Sun at 29 Leo. In September we had a New Moon Sun at 14 Virgo, and then we had a Full Moon Sun at 27 Virgo. In October we had a New Moon Sun at 12 Libra, and then a Full Moon Sun at 26 Libra.
This continued through all of 2014, with the New Moon Solar Eclipse in late April having the Sun at 9 Taurus and the subsequent Sun at the Wesak Full Moon was 24 Taurus. This continued through the Summer and Autumn, with the Partial Solar Eclipse New Moon in October at 1 Scorpio and the following Full Moon Sun was at 15 Scorpio. The late January 2015 New Moon was at 1 Aquarius, and the subsequent Full Moon Sun at 15 Aquarius.
The first New Moon in the new pattern had the Sun at 30 Aquarius, with the Full Moon Sun at 15 Pisces. The second New Moon was the Solar Eclipse at 30 Pisces, with the following Full Moon Sun at 15 Aries. The third had the New Moon Sun at 29 Aries, and the Sun at the next Full Moon at 14 Taurus. The last New Moon Sun was 26 Gemini, and this Full Moon Sun is at 10 Cancer.
So we’ve ended the pattern of the “natural” order of Lunation Suns, offering us seeds shown in the first half, fulfillment in the second half, and have begun a new order of things. Now we were offered seeds of the past light (Sun in Gemini) at the New Moon at 26 Gemini, and the future light (Sun in Cancer) is now the Sun sign at this following Full Moon.
See you in the near future with parts two and three, where we will explore the Sabian Symbols, aspects, and other important chart factors.

Purposeful emphasis . . . I continue to ask what is the point of this encounter. It seems so buried in other stuff sometimes. And then the question is how do I get out of this? Is the point for me to be taken down? I had a tough one today on the job site. She called me insatiable like it was a bad thing. She was comparing me to the other customer service reps she had harassed earlier in the day. How many calls was she gonna make in one day anyway? I was just trying to help her resolve her issue. She wouldn't even help me to define it. Skirting it all the way. I had to laugh at her defeat. But you know what, she may well be at it again tomorrow. Ah yes, quite the full moon, this one.

Thanks Robert, a Full Moon with so many things happening around the world that is surely pointing out to many forks in the roads, decisions, changes and opportunities.
Ready for part 2 and 3.
Blessings be to all

I dont know how the full moon influences me as born on the 29th August,Virgo. But it always brings conflict and that is so unfortunate becuase I love the full moon in it's beautiful sight.
