This distributive, fluid, adjusting, and practical Full Moon at 7 Virgo-Pisces will stabilize a lot as we stand at a huge series of forks in the road of destiny that interlock over several areas of life! Here we see the light of Divine Discrimination showing us how to quicken our transformation by getting to the heart of any matter.
At a Full Moon, that which has opened since the previous New Moon surfaces in a public form, and heads toward the culmination and fruition symbolized by the second half of any cycle. First half, birth into form and field. Second half, culmination and completion of the purpose of that cycle.
That’s why it’s important to regard the New and Full Moon charts as “God’s Footprints in Time,” since one follows the other in an unending sequence of births of newer and newer seeds. The New Moons show us the seeds that will flourish under the reflected light of the Full Moon.
Full Moons heighten feelings, due to the opposition of the Moon and the Sun. This particular Lunation has only one other opposition, that being the Sun opposed Neptune.
That may show as the need to get and stay clear about what roles we are and are not playing, as well as our Light to shine in the midst of the fogs and confusion. This requires that we do not play to timidity or any sense of drifting or victimization, and learn how to speak our ideals in ways that helps to clarify things for us and others.
This is the Light expressing the collective ideal, or the Light cutting through the illusions and illuminating the collective atmosphere. Here it’s good to remember that sunlight is a disinfectant.
There are mitigating aspects that can help ease the tension and allow for ways to use the oppositional “headwinds” to achieve forward motion and progress which I’ll cover in part 3. This Full Moon continues a string of various additional oppositions off and on for many months.
Dispositors - What's the Backdrop to the Energies?
The Moon is in Pisces, making Jupiter the ruler in worldly affairs, and Neptune the ruler in spiritual matters. Jupiter is in Virgo, and is ruled by Mercury in Libra, which is ruled in turn by Venus in Leo, which is ruled by the Sun in Virgo. That makes Earth (practicality), and to a lesser degree Air and Fire, important in how the Moon expresses itself in worldly things. Neptune in watery Pisces of course is solidly in its own realm, and exerts its own independent influence on the Moon.
The Sun is in Virgo, making Mercury its ruler. As noted above, Mercury in Libra is ruled by Venus in Leo, itself ruled by the Sun in Virgo. This creates a chain of dispositors that governs the backdrop for how all the planets manifest, except for the standalone Neptune in its home sign of Pisces. You can find out more about dispositors in general, final dispositors, and mutual reception by going to Astrology Class – What Is A Dispositor and What Is Mutual Reception Between Two Planets?
Because Mercury in Libra is such a powerful influence, be sure to maintain your balance, or sense of perspective or proportion, as you move through the various Virgo experiences promised by the Sun and Jupiter. Keep your inner equilibrium as you embrace "the joy and power of new beginnings," releasing your heart energy in forms that express your Soul and show you how "a new day has dawned, revealing a world that is utterly transformed."
The Sabian Symbols for the Full Moon
This Full Moon falls at 7 Virgo-Pisces. It is said that the first third (decan) of any sign deals with the actional, physical, and material levels of life, and as the Lunation is in the first decan of those signs, invokes a sub-influence of Virgo and Pisces.
Since the Moon always focuses the light of the Sun in specific forms, the degree symbols for both are important. The Sun degree is the illumination or enlightenment of the Lunation, whereas the Moon shows us the potential forms that enlightenment will take. Though I’ve given you a sense of what this is about up to now, here’s where we go into detail.
The Solar degree symbol for the 7th degree of Virgo is “A harem.” In the Jones class notes, Rudhyar says this is a degree of “Early stage of development of individual soul, with full yet binding life-protection” and “freedom from responsibility or restraint.”
In the Astrological Mandala, he goes on to say that this degree is about “a fateful (even if sought after) subservience to the vagaries or desires of the emotional nature.” He goes on to state that this is a passive experience, where “the motive power is exterior to the experiencer, who is caught in a pattern of forces over which he or she has no control.”
This symbol is about being “one with a number of individuals all seeking or being subjected to the same type of experience or fate.” He offers that we should not “become addicted to the excitement of the merry-go-round of vital emotions,” or “become a slave to the hope of recapturing the exultation of the initial experiences” while learning how to use the waiting or down times between activities. He says this degree falls in the Span of Idealization, Act of Stabilization, and Scene of Characterization on the Emotional-Cultural level.
So this second degree counterpoint symbol shows us the illumination of being in patterns over which we have little control, where we may from time to time use our skills or talents to win or acquire something. This tells us that “those who stand and wait also serve,” and we can see Light and power in understanding the patterns of forces controlling situations and interactions. Light can also be found by examining what types of stimulation and/or excitement we are attached to, or not.
Dr. Jones says this is a degree of “withdrawal from reality in one aspect as a means for regrasping it in another,” by accepting of “regimentation” to insulate ourselves “against life’s demand” for a more dynamic form of self-expression. He continues with our need for using our “fellowship in lesser values” for self-strengthening in our “renewed struggle towards the greater.”
He finishes with stating that “an enforced conservation of energies need not encourage a surrender of basic ideals. He offers us the keyword RESTRAINT. He states that when operating in a positive manner, this degree “a courageous and complete disregard of limitation by the rejection of its terms at any cost.”
The Lunar degree symbol for the 7th degree of Pisces is “A cross lying on rocks.” Rudhyar says this is a degree of “concentration of values amidst the chaos of outer living,” “clear light of high realization,” and “acceptance of life’s limits.”
In the Mandala he goes on to say this is a degree of "the spiritual blessing which strengthens individuals who, happen what may, stand uncompromisingly for their own truth.” He says this symbol is about not depending on “collective values, traditions, or support” as we seek to be true to our individual self and destiny, even if we face “some kind of crucifixion.” Here we are sustained by our inner power, “to which a light above answers.”
He offers that the lesson is “to thine own self be true,” where we can experience “the supreme worth of a life guided by an inner voice” and “a high degree of self-assertion.” He states this degree falls in the Span of Innocence, Act of Capitalization, and Scene of Federation on the Emotional-Cultural level.
Dr. Jones, creator of the Sabian Symbols, says this is a degree of “withdrawal from reality in one aspect as a means for regrasping it in another,” by an “unnecessary acceptance of the world’s common repudiation or neglect of an individual’s higher ideals.” We are told this is about “the need to be active in the cause of every standard or allegiance” that makes our lives worthwhile, and “the insistent stirring of an inner voice which seeks to quicken the soul to the paramount necessities of its existence.”
He offers the keyword CONSCIENCE. He goes on to state that when operating positively, the degree is “a rugged independence of inner spirit and a courageous rejection of all outer compromise.”
From these symbols it seems we can see the light of patterns we’re in that show us what characterizes social or emotional situations, expressed through demonstrating courage in standing for our higher ideals. This is the Light of divine Discrimination and enlightened service expressed through a compassionate independence of spirit in living our conscience without equivocation or fear.
TransPluto, Divine Mother, Neptune, and the Polarization in the Collective Atmosphere
In the Full Moon charts of 2009-2012, Neptune was in a very close opposition to TransPluto, the planet symbolizing Divine Mother Energy. That’s a major factor in why things became so polarized during those years, teaching humanity compassion and the need for Viveka, or Divine Discrimination. This has offered all of us opportunities to join together in the Great Mother and realize our interrelatedness on a feeling level with All-That-Is.
The energies of Divine Mother will only grow stronger throughout this century, and these will be demonstrated each time the planets make significant aspects to TransPluto. In this chart TransPluto is direct at 1 Virgo, showing us the long term future of humanity.
The Divine Redeemer is showing us ways to demonstrate a higher and broader level of discernment through understanding the place and function of individual differences. This is another set of lessons related to the period it occupied the first degree of Virgo in October 2011 through October 2014, after which it moved to 2 Virgo.
In terms of the larger Era, we’ve now ended the TransPluto (Percephone, Parvati) in Leo era that we knew from September 20, 1935 through July 4, 2014. The transition period where this planet danced at the last degree of Leo and first two degrees of Virgo began October 2011 and ended July 2014.
On July 4, 2014, TransPluto left Leo for many centuries, and entered into Virgo for the next century. It made it to 2 Virgo on October 16, 2014, where it eventually went stationary retrograde. That degree is one of humanity experiencing “a liberating ordeal.” Because it’s Divine Mother, I would think that would mean we all will be tested to allow compassion and understanding to come forth as humanity stands at the crossroads of time.
In this chart it’s at 1 Virgo, the degree where it went stationary direct on May 16-17. It is now completing our 2015 experience of 1 Virgo through early September when it returns to its previous SRX degree, the “liberating ordeal” of 2 Virgo. Since 1 and 2 Virgo will dominate the landscape through October 2017, any study given to this degree span will be helpful in navigating the next 26 months.
Of some importance is that Saturn has been squaring TransPluto since December 2014. That has severely tested our ability to be far sighted, compassionate, and discerning in seeing the larger redemptive possibilities of this time in history. Between now and early October, Saturn will be in continuous waxing square to TransPluto, finishing this 11 month challenge to find responsible ways to release this “Divine Mother energy.”
Also, when Jupiter recently conjuncted TransPluto in August for the first time in Virgo, it began a new 12 year cycle of how these “Divine Mother energies” will manifest. It also began a new long wave era, since Jupiter will conjunct TransPluto in Virgo every 12 years until the 22nd century!
To finish this brief section, Venus also went stationary retrograde exactly conjunct TransPluto in late July, setting up Venusian manifestations of Divine Mother that will show each and every time 1 Virgo is transited. That means the Venusian Divine Mother promise of late July was expanded, or set into motion somehow, by Jupiter's transit of 1 Virgo in mid-August, and will take shape in further expressions and actions when Mars transits that degree in late September.
So we’ve officially entered a different Spiritual Era that will last through July 2107, when it leaves Virgo for good and re-enters Libra for the first time in many centuries, also after a few years of dancing on the cusp of Virgo and Libra. I just offered you a bit more about this vast spiritual energy field in Astrology in the Age of Aquarius - Transpluto, a.k.a Divine Mother, Parvati, and Percephone.
This closes part 2 on this Full Moon. Part 3 will cover important chart factors, aspects, configurations and more, which I'll give you soon.
