This stabilizing, abstract, visionary, creative-expressive Full Moon at 4 Aquarius-Leo will help us to find techniques that reveal a greater ability to contribute to some larger work, and help us focus on the promise that opened up with Mercury conjunct Jupiter on this degree in August 2014.
At a Full Moon, that which has opened since the previous New Moon surfaces in a public form, and heads toward the culmination and fruition symbolized by the second half of any cycle. First half, birth into form and field. Second half, culmination and completion of the purpose of that cycle.
That’s why it’s important to regard the New and Full Moon charts as “God’s Footprints in Time,” since one follows the other in an unending sequence of births of newer and newer seeds. The New Moons show us the seeds that will flourish under the reflected light of the Full Moon.
Full Moons heighten feelings, due to the opposition of the Moon and the Sun. This particular Lunation has no other oppositions, showing polarization is not strong over the next two weeks. There are two helpful squares in this Full Moon that will help us release the positive potential of the Moon and Mars, and Mercury and Uranus.
Dispositors - What's the Backdrop to the Energies?
The Moon is in Leo, making the Sun its ruler. Still, the Moon is very strong in Leo, and it figures prominently in the simultaneous Jones patterns made at this time. The Moon is both the leading planet of the “Locomotive” pattern AND the handle, or focal determinator, for the “Bucket” pattern. Those who know how to handle and express Leo energies will be on top of what’s happening the next two weeks.
The Sun is in Aquarius, making Saturn in Sag its ruler in worldly affairs, and Uranus in Aries the ruler in spiritual matters. Saturn, ruler of the Sun, is in Sag, so its ruler is Jupiter in Virgo. Jupiter in Virgo is ruled by Mercury in Capricorn, ruled by Saturn. So this creates a “chain of dispositors” between Mercury, Saturn, and Jupiter, which serves as the backdrop blend of energies ruling those planets, as well as the Sun, Venus, and Pluto.
There are two “standalone” rulers that are outside that chain of dispositors. Mars is in its home sign of Scorpio, and Neptune is in its home sign of Pisces. Because Uranus is in Aries, Mars is its dispositor. That shows three distinct groupings of energies in this Full Moon, with the dispositor chain and Mars very strong. You can find out more about dispositors in general, chains of dispositors, and mutual reception by going to Astrology Class – What Is A Dispositor and What Is Mutual Reception Between Two Planets?
Because Mercury, Jupiter, and Saturn are such powerful influences, with two other standalones, we’ll be dealing with 3 distinct energy circuits moving all the planetary energy. Some will open new futures by the training and skill they show, or an awakening to the power of their “spiritual ancestry.” Others will be moved toward a greater humanitarianism or away from a situation where they’re out of their depth, and the general vibe will be one of quickening and getting rid of anything that would impede our social goals.
The Sabian Symbols for the Full Moon
This Full Moon falls at 4 Aquarius-Leo. It is said that the first third (decan) of any sign deals with the actional, physical, and material levels of life, and as the Lunation is in the first decan of those signs, invokes a sub-influence of Aquarius and Leo.
Since the Moon always focuses the light of the Sun in specific forms, the degree symbols for both are important. The Sun degree is the illumination or enlightenment of the Lunation, whereas the Moon shows us the potential forms that enlightenment will take. Though I’ve given you a sense of what this is about up to now, here’s where we go into detail.
The Solar degree symbol for the 4th degree of Aquarius is "A Hindu healer.” In the Jones class notes, Rudhyar says this is a degree of "Supremacy of the unsuspected faculties hidden deep within,” “conscious utilization of divine potency,” and “Revelation of Self.”
In "The Astrological Mandala" he states the keynote is "the disciplined use of spiritual energies in restoring the natural harmony disturbed by man’s inharmonic attempts to transcend nature through mind.” He notes that this symbol somehow relates to “transcending compulsive and rigid biological drives, while making use, in a refined … way, of what it cannot control,” in service to a goal of helping individuals develop as “self-motivated and responsible individuals freely associating according to harmonic patterns in order to produce a vast spiritual chord of consciousness actualizing the potentials inherent in the archetype MAN.”
He offers that regardless of the karmic shadows and human deviancy, it is the duty of all truth seeking Souls to “tap the vast reservoir of spiritual forces pervading our planet” and use these energies for healing others. He continues that this is a technique which can be used for “healing of physical illnesses” and also for “making whole” whatever has “lost its natural root integration.” He states it involves “self-discipline, purity of motive, compassion, faith in the divine order,” and “the focusing of spiritual energy.” He says this degree falls in the Span of Defensiveness, Act of Capitalization, and Scene of Contribution on the technical degree of the Actional level.
Dr. Jones, creator of the Sabian Symbols, tells us this is a symbol of “self-assertion at a point of effective impact on the world” in “an inner and transcendental reality,” where “a spiritualized self-discipline achieves a magical ordering of the whole course of events, and in its perfecting it provides a spectacular ministry for the minds and bodies of all.” He states “the individual ever dramatizes (their) immortal capacities as (we) translate these into (our) tangible achievements” on some level of life.”
He offers us the keyword of THERAPY. He says that when operating in a positive manner, this degree is "high personal skill in bringing the least of human potentials to some ultimate consummation.”
The Lunar degree symbol for the 4th degree of Leo is “A man formally dressed and a deer with its horns folded.” According to Rudhyar’s notes from the Marc Jones class, this degree is one of “Self-development through the culture of masculine activities,” “subservience of individual to social pattern of behavior,” and “taste.”
In the Astrological Mandala he states this degree is one of “the masculine will to conquer his animal nature and to impress his peers with his skill in performing the ancient traditional power rituals.” (As an aside, it’s interesting that the “game birds” of the last New Moon in Cancer has now become a “hunter” in this New Moon.)
He states that in this symbol we see the human capacity “to overcome the animalistic tendencies of (our) bio-psychic nature according to certain traditional procedures.” We are told this is important to attaining a goal of proving ourselves in some way.
Further, he states this symbol refers to “eagerness to show oneself to the best of one’s advantage,” and “dramatize our achievements.” This symbol is said to be in the Span of Assurance, Act of Stabilization, and is the technical degree of the Actional level of the Scene of Combustion.
Dr. Jones, creator of the Sabian Symbols, says this degree is one of “self-assertion at a point of effective impact on the world,” where “formality becomes a magical ordering of the automatisms of lesser things, enlisting them in an enduring service to each individual’s more outstanding talents.” We are told “achievements become evident in the trophies by which (we make our) consistent contribution of the real essence” of ourselves to others.
He offers us the keyword of MORALE. He states that when this degree works positively, it is one of “exceptional capacity for winning and holding the esteem” of others.
From these symbols it seems we can see the light of finding new ways to restore harmony or integrity in the physical, emotional, and mental levels through applying spiritual techniques. This is a technique for acting in ways that make for a greater contribution by the individual to the integrity of the whole. This light will be expressed through showing our ability to hold our own within our society, and our willingness to compete in some way that is formally recognized by society as showing strength, creativity, or acumen.
TransPluto, Divine Mother, Neptune, and the Polarization in the Collective Atmosphere
In the Full Moon charts of 2009-2012, Neptune was in a very close opposition to TransPluto, the planet symbolizing Divine Mother Energy. That’s a major factor in why things became so polarized during those years, teaching humanity compassion and the need for Viveka, or Divine Discrimination. This has offered all of us opportunities to join together in the Great Mother and realize our interrelatedness on a feeling level with All-That-Is.
The energies of Divine Mother will only grow stronger throughout this century, and these will be demonstrated each time the planets make significant aspects to TransPluto. In this chart TransPluto is direct at 2 Virgo, showing us the long term future of humanity.
The Divine Redeemer is showing us ways to demonstrate a higher and broader level of discernment through accepting experiences that liberate us so that “compassion and understanding” may come forth. We’re still in the set of lessons related to the period when it occupied the first degree of Virgo in October 2011 through October 2014, as well as the time after that when it occupied 2 Virgo. It began its transit of 2 Virgo in October 2014, remaining there until mid-January 2015 when it retrograded back to 1 Virgo.
It re-entered 2 Virgo in early September 2015, and will stay at that degree until late Feb 2016, when it retrogrades back to 1 Virgo. It then goes forward to 2 Virgo in early August 2016, and stays there until the end of March 2017, when it again retrogrades back to 1 Virgo. As you can see, we’ll be dealing with themes related to 1 and 2 Virgo for a long time to come.
In terms of the larger Era, we’ve now ended the TransPluto (Percephone, Parvati) in Leo era that we knew from September 20, 1935 through July 4, 2014. The transition period where this planet danced at the last degree of Leo and first two degrees of Virgo began October 2011 and ended July 2014.
On July 4, 2014, TransPluto left Leo for many centuries, and entered into Virgo for the next century. It made it to 2 Virgo on October 16, 2014, where it eventually went stationary retrograde. That degree is one of humanity experiencing “a liberating ordeal.” Because it’s Divine Mother, I would think that would mean we all will be tested to allow compassion and understanding to come forth as humanity stands at the crossroads of time.
Of some importance is that Saturn squared TransPluto from December 2014 through June 2015, and again in late September and October 2015. That severely tested our ability to be far sighted, compassionate, and discerning in seeing the larger redemptive possibilities of this time in history. In this chart Saturn is now about to form a waxing biseptile to TransPluto, showing that January will be a huge turning point in finding responsible, future oriented truth teaching ways to demonstrate this “Divine Mother energy.”
Also, when Jupiter recently conjuncted TransPluto in August for the first time in Virgo, it began a new 12 year cycle of how these “Divine Mother energies” will manifest. It also began a new long wave era, since Jupiter will conjunct TransPluto in Virgo every 12 years until the 22nd century!
To finish this brief section, Venus also went stationary retrograde exactly conjunct TransPluto in late July, setting up Venusian manifestations of Divine Mother that will show each and every time 1 Virgo is transited. That means the Venusian Divine Mother promise of late July was expanded, or set into motion somehow, by Jupiter's transit of 1 Virgo in mid-August, and then took expression due to Mars’ transit of that degree in late September, and found “beauty of form” when Venus transited it in early October.
So we’ve officially entered a different Spiritual Era that will last through July 2107, when it leaves Virgo for good and re-enters Libra for the first time in many centuries, also after a few years of dancing on the cusp of Virgo and Libra. I just offered you a bit more about this vast spiritual energy field in Astrology in the Age of Aquarius - Transpluto, a.k.a Divine Mother, Parvati, and Percephone.
A New Look At Mercury Retrograde
As I mentioned in part 1, though Mercury is now about to go stationary direct and move in forward motion through its shadow zone for the next several weeks, it is still a major influence on what’s been happening and what will be happening. We’ve all had some form of “cosmic visitation” that has “galvanized us to action.” When it goes direct, it shall traverse its shadow zone and give us a third pass over that span of experience.
