This initiating, balancing, explosive, refining, and deeply feeling Full Moon Eclipse at 4 Aries-Libra will help us to find techniques that show us how to BE, and join with others who share our heart fire. This will bring feelings of a vaster connection with others and experience, and will allow us to break up old complexes that we’ve repressed for a while.
At a Full Moon, that which has opened since the previous New Moon surfaces in a public form, and heads toward the culmination and fruition symbolized by the second half of any cycle. First half, birth into form and field. Second half, culmination and completion of the purpose of that cycle.
That’s why it’s important to regard the New and Full Moon charts as “God’s Footprints in Time,” since one follows the other in an unending sequence of births of newer and newer seeds. The New Moons show us the seeds that will flourish under the reflected light of the Full Moon.
Full Moons heighten feelings, due to the opposition of the Moon and the Sun. This particular Lunation has two other planetary oppositions, those being Venus opposed Jupiter and Jupiter opposed Neptune, emphasizing the Virgo-Pisces opposition axis which will dominate the first half of 2016. Add Saturn in Sagittarius making a powerful mutable T-square, and the coming months will definitely shake the tree of our life!
Dispositors - What's the Backdrop to the Energies?
The Moon is in Libra, making Venus in Pisces its worldly ruler, and TransPluto in Virgo its spiritual ruler. The Sun is in Aries, making Mars in Sagittarius its ruler in worldly affairs, and Pluto in Capricorn the ruler in spiritual matters. Venus in Pisces is ruled by Jupiter, as is Mars in Sagittarius. Jupiter in Virgo is ruled by Mercury in Aries, which is ruled by Mars. This creates a “chain of dispositors” between Mercury, Mars, and Jupiter, which serves as the backdrop blend of energies ruling those planets, as well as all the others except for Neptune, which is in its home sign of Pisces. You can find out more about dispositors in general, chains of dispositors, and mutual reception by going to Astrology Class – What Is A Dispositor and What Is Mutual Reception Between Two Planets?
Because Mercury, Mars, and Jupiter are such powerful influences and Neptune is a standalone, we’ll be dealing with 2 distinct energy circuits moving all the planetary energy. Some will open new futures by the training and skill they show while joining with others in some form of public “rebirth.” Others will see a greater part to play in their collective reality, and begin to become the answer to some collective need or ideal. And everyone will move through fracturing into a greater mind power and adaptability.
Because Jupiter is the leading planet of the Bowl pattern, humor will be of great use in overcoming any limiting beliefs or circumstances. The opposition from Pisces to Virgo counsels us to stay alert to seeing the bigger picture, and learn how to give things an occasional push so they prove in our long term interest. It’s the end of the end of an old way of relating to others and even to our life story, so make sure you’re hanging in there to receive the rewards you’re due.
The Sabian Symbols for the Full Moon
This Full Moon falls at 4 Aries and Libra. It is said that the first third (decan) of any sign deals with the actional, physical, and material levels of life, and as the Lunation is in the first decan of those signs, invokes a sub-influence of Aries and Libra.
Since the Moon always focuses the light of the Sun in specific forms, the degree symbols for both are important. The Sun degree is the illumination or enlightenment of the Lunation, whereas the Moon shows us the potential forms that enlightenment will take. Though I’ve given you a sense of what this is about up to now, here’s where we go into detail.
The Solar degree symbol for the 4th degree of Aries is “Two lovers strolling through a secluded walk.” In "the Astrology of Personality," where Rudhyar uses the original Dr. Jones' class notes on the symbols, 4 Aries is said to be a symbol of “fullness of conscious participation in life without responsibility” and “closing of a cycle of activity, implying satiation.”
We are told in the Astrological Mandala that this symbolizes "the progressive polarization of energies needed for fulfilling one’s life functions.” We are told this had to do with becoming whole so that we can “respond fully to the potentialities released by a sense of identification with a greater Whole.” This provides a polarity of energies needed to “sustain a resonance” to that greater way of life.
He continues that this may involve withdrawing from routine activity, and constitutes a “dynamic and unresolved polarization” so we may better function in a dualistic world. He says it falls in the span of Realization, and it’s the penultimate (technique) degree in the actional level of the scene of Desire in the Act of Differentiation.
According to Dr. Jones, creator of the Sabian Symbols, this degree is one of “the first innocent rounding out of conscious experiences, and of an unspoiled assurance of personal potentialities for which no immediate sense of responsibility is necessary.” He states that “reality is ever without meaning or power except as it stimulates the self to move in its own interest persistently and continuously whenever the least opportunity offers.”
He offers us the keyword ENJOYMENT. He states when operating in a positive manner, this degree “an utterly naïve assimilation of self into its world and a complete flow of all effort towards some proper end.”
So we'll use the illumination available over the next two weeks (and 4+ months) to see Light, Life, and Integration via techniques of closing old cycles of activity, and allowing ourselves to be polarized in new ways relative to whatever dualities we’ll be dealing with. It implies our experience will be “rounded out,” and we’ll be stimulated to new interests without a lot of responsibilities.
The Lunar degree symbol for the 4th degree of Libra is “A group around a campfire.” In "the Astrology of Personality," where Rudhyar uses the original Dr. Jones' class notes on the symbols, 4 Libra is said to be a symbol of "fellowship of higher ideals that sustains the individuals on their arduous path to Reality," and "Mellow participation in life."
He goes on to state in the Mandala that the keynote for this degree is "the necessity to unite with kindred spirits as one enters unbeaten paths illumined by the still-insecure light of a dawning intuition of new values." He goes on to say that this degree leads "the pioneer" in us to "the wilds" in any effort to "create a new society and respond to new values." Here we need to commune with other "around the fire of a common dedication" to form "a chalice... for the reception of creative inspiration."
This is a technique to build new social forms and mechanisms when we can commune with those who share our "central fire," which can "in-spirit the group." This is a degree where we are shown a technique that can help us in acting positively to embrace a new archetype of living, creating, and being with others who share our hopes and dreams. Rudhyar says it falls in the span of Expectation, the Process of Collectivization, Act of Group-Integration, and the Scene of Transfiguration on the Actional level.
According to Dr. Jones, creator of the Sabian Symbols, we find this degree symbolizes "an initial or uncritical consummation of group experience," where we find our "unconditioned capacity" to associate with "our kind" without feeling inhibited. He states that "any reality broader than a simple self-concern must have its origin in common functions where any responsibility becomes the expression of identity rather than a divergence in interest."
He states the keyword is AMIABILITY. He goes on to say that when positive, this degree is "special skill in building an everyday morale and in sustaining an effective structure for further and greater objectives in life."
So the Lunar degree of this Eclipse should help us find relationships where we can be ourselves, within which we can find common functions that express elements of our unique personal and interactive interests. This implies that perhaps old fellowships will be shut down over the next 4 months, and new ones will present themselves to warm up our hearts and lives.
From these symbols it seems we can see the light of new initiatives that free us from old responsibilities and show us the closing of old cycles. This Light will be expressed through new relationships with others who share our heart fire, with whom we can find new forms of fellowship. Because of the dispositors, keep learning skill in “playing the game,” and if appropriate, find a “camouflage” that can conceal you as you pursue your spiritual work.
TransPluto, Divine Mother, Neptune, and the Polarization in the Collective Atmosphere
In the Full Moon charts of 2009-2012, Neptune was in a very close opposition to TransPluto, the planet symbolizing Divine Mother Energy. That’s a major factor in why things became so polarized during those years, teaching humanity compassion and the need for Viveka, or Divine Discrimination. This has offered all of us opportunities to join together in the Great Mother and realize our interrelatedness on a feeling level with All-That-Is.
The energies of Divine Mother will only grow stronger throughout this century, and these will be demonstrated each time the planets make significant aspects to TransPluto. In this chart TransPluto has finally retrograded back from 2 Virgo to 1 Virgo, again giving us a review of the long term future of humanity.
Up to now, when TransPluto was at 2 Virgo, the Divine Redeemer has shown us ways to demonstrate a higher and broader level of discernment through accepting experiences that liberate us so that “compassion and understanding” may come forth. Now we’re revisiting the set of lessons related to the period when it occupied the first degree of Virgo in October 2011 through October 2014, as well as the time after that when it occupied 2 Virgo. It began its transit of 2 Virgo in October 2014, remaining there until mid-January 2015 when it retrograded back to 1 Virgo.
It re-entered 2 Virgo in early September 2015, and stayed at that degree until Feb 20, 2016, when it retrograded back to 1 Virgo. In mid-May it will go stationary direct at 1 Virgo, and then re-enters 2 Virgo in early August 2016. It remains on that degree until the end of March 2017, when it again retrogrades back to 1 Virgo. As you can see, we’ll be dealing with themes related to 1 and 2 Virgo for a long time to come.
In terms of the larger Era, we’ve now ended the TransPluto (Percephone, Parvati) in Leo era that we knew from September 20, 1935 through July 4, 2014. The transition period where this planet danced at the last degree of Leo and first two degrees of Virgo began October 2011 and ended July 2014.
On July 4, 2014, TransPluto left Leo for many centuries, and entered into Virgo for the next century. It made it to 2 Virgo on October 16, 2014, where it eventually went stationary retrograde. That degree is one of humanity experiencing “a liberating ordeal.” Because it’s Divine Mother, I would think that would mean we all will be tested to allow compassion and understanding to come forth as humanity stands at the crossroads of time.
Of some importance is that Saturn squared TransPluto from December 2014 through June 2015, and again in late September and October 2015. That severely tested our ability to be far sighted, compassionate, and discerning in seeing the larger redemptive possibilities of this time in history. However, the first two months of 2016 Saturn made a waxing biseptile to TransPluto, showing this time is a huge turning point in finding responsible, future oriented truth teaching ways to demonstrate this “Divine Mother energy.”
As Saturn is now on the degree where it will go stationary retrograde soon, it makes a tredecile to TransPluto. This is an aspect of “serendipity,” and indicates some very unique and specialized interactive gifts will come forth over the next few weeks, or at least they will be set up for when Saturn is direct and makes the tredecile again in November and December 2016. Between now and then, the biseptile will be back in play in May and June, as well as again in October-November 2016.
Also, when Jupiter conjuncted TransPluto in August 2015 for the first time in Virgo, it began a new 12 year cycle of how these “Divine Mother energies” will manifest. It also began a new long wave era, since Jupiter will conjunct TransPluto in Virgo every 12 years until the 22nd century!
To finish this brief section, Venus also went stationary retrograde exactly conjunct TransPluto in late July 2015, setting up Venusian manifestations of Divine Mother that will show each and every time 1 Virgo is transited. That means the Venusian Divine Mother promise of late July was expanded, or set into motion somehow, by Jupiter's transit of 1 Virgo in mid-August, and then took expression due to Mars’ transit of that degree in late September, and found “beauty of form” when Venus transited it in early October 2015.
So we’ve officially entered a different Spiritual Era that will last through July 2107, when it leaves Virgo for good and re-enters Libra for the first time in many centuries, also after a few years of dancing on the cusp of Virgo and Libra. I just offered you a bit more about this vast spiritual energy field in Astrology in the Age of Aquarius - Transpluto, a.k.a Divine Mother, Parvati, and Percephone.
This closes part 3 on this Full Moon Lunar Eclipse. Part 4 will cover important chart factors, aspects, configurations and more, which I'll give you soon.
