Long Wave Astrology in 2016-17 – Mars Stationary Direct at 24 Scorpio Affecting Us Through 2018 Pt. 2

Mars is now direct in motion! It occupies 24 Scorpio, a platform for everything Mars springs forth to achieve for many months to come. So what does this mean, and how can we use it wisely?

After 10+ weeks of extreme slow-mo, where much got put on hold, got diverted while other things were taken care of, or went into reverse while other things caught up, Mars begins to speed up very quickly. Things will develop VERY rapidly from this point on, so get ready to rock and roll! 24 Scorpio is now the platform from which Mars launches into its next long wave phase, moving from here toward its next conjunction with the Sun at 5 Leo in late July 2017.

So Mars is now direct at 24 Scorpio. The Sabian Symbol for 24 Scorpio is “Crowds coming down the mountain to listen to one man.” Rudhyar says this degree is one of “the power in well-formulated ideas to become actual facts,” “practical inspiration; or else inability to face a vital challenge.”

In the Mandala he states this degree is one of “the need to incorporate inspiring experiences and teachings into everyday living.” He says this is about assimilating “peak experiences,” and allowing that to “transform our everyday consciousness and behavior.” He states the challenge of this symbol is to allow our Soul’s illumination to transfigure our lives, and offers that it falls in the Span of Appreciation, and is the technical degree on the emotional-cultural level of the Scene of Faith in the Act of Group Integration.

I interpret this to mean we will all have opportunities to redirect our efforts and transform our lives by living those truths we’ve heard or experienced. For the rest of this year and next, we’ve entered a time of radical transformation, where we become the inspiration for others’ transformations, and others become our teachers to help us transform our lives. And a sense of feeling stuck is a clear signal to use the truths you’ve found to change your way of acting, feeling, or thinking.

Dr. Jones says this degree is about “recognition for intellectual attainment, and of the supremacy of spiritual over other more tangible forms of authority.” He states that “any higher realization must be brought to earth both for its initial confirmation and its ultimate sharing,” and “aspiration is meaningless until it achieves some practical focus” in familiar realms and events.

He offers the keyword of APPEAL. He states that when this degree works positively, it is “an almost spectacular ability to enlist the higher potentialities of everyone for some practical need of the moment.” This degree involves faith, magnetism, deeper connectedness, social responsibility, universality, and sustaining ideals.

As Mars begins to speed up, you can expect more energy in the coming weeks, as well as a sense that the momentum is picking up, moving substantially faster than it has the past 11 weeks. Much we've been waiting for will now develop more rapidly than it has so far this year.

For some, a real sense of new energy as things begin to move forward. There are a phenomenal number of favorable aspects in play right now, offering major productivity and more than a few unique blessings and gifts for those affected by the Mercury quintile Jupiter, Venus biquintile Saturn, Mars tredecile Neptune, and Jupiter biquintile Uranus. Whatever has been stalled or delayed up to now will begin to show up, rather dramatically!

As the Moon is at 9 Taurus during this station, it re-activates all the Grand Earth Trines of May that helped us stabilize and/or understand certain practical realities and necessities. We now move forward at a crucial fork in several roads indicated by Moon septile Mercury and Mars septile Pluto, putting the Grand Irrationality into play during this time in late June and early July.

Mars will still be in its “shadow phase” of 24 Scorpio through 9 Sagittarius through August 21. For everyone on Earth, during the coming weeks we’ll experience a third pass of Mars over this late Scorpio and early Sagittarius span of degrees, offering us opportunities to act in some way appropriate to what we’ve learned and done since last February.

As I told you in part 1, we experienced the span during Mars first pass of this Scorpio and Sagittarius span between February 19, 2016 and when it went retrograde April 17. It then retrograded back from 9 Sagittarius to 24 Scorpio, where it now goes direct. It will make a third transit of this span from now to August 21, right before it makes its conjunction with Saturn at 10 Sagittarius.

This has activated our Scorpio and Sagittarius houses and planets in radical ways, reworking our life affairs and forms of planetary self-expression. We now stand ready to express those affairs and expressions in more perfect forms, having been educated in some way connected to Mars in Scorpio and Sagittarius.

Remember also Mars in Scorpio and Sagittarius has been dancing over points made important when Saturn transited that span beginning February 2014, where it went stationary retrograde at 24 Scorpio in March 2014. After its retrograde, it then transited the span between 24 Scorpio and 5 Sagittarius between late October 2014 and November 2015. So somehow this Mars retrograde is directly related to reworking some Saturn issues or plans we structured back then.

One possible manifestation is that the duties, responsibilities, or life structures we dealt with in 2014 and 2015 will somehow move forward in active ways between now and mid-August, when Mars continues to occupy the “shadow span” of its retrograde path. This also marks the beginning of the end of the old Mars-Saturn cycle set into motion at their last conjunction at 18 Scorpio in August 2014, with a new one about to begin in late August 2016 when they conjunct at 10 Sagittarius.

The powerful septile of Moon to Mercury at the critical first degree of Cancer shows there are huge new directions in store for all of us. That septile opens up zones near 7-11 Taurus, 29 Gemini-3 Cancer, 21-25 Leo, 12-16 Libra, 3-7 Sagittarius, 25-29 Capricorn, and 16-20 Pisces. If you have a planet or angle near these zones, your life is about to be shift into important directions and major decisions which will reorient you in big ways.

With the Grand Earth trine pulling in Sun, Venus, and Neptune, we have 5 points of a Great Sextile Six Pointed Star pattern. This is the source of major harmony, understanding, and productivity, so those who have planets or angles near the middle of the Earth and Water signs will find themselves riding very favorable waves moving them clearly and steadily into the future. I’ll explain the aspects in more detail in the coming New Moon articles.

So from here we go on! Be focused, clear, and willing to allow whatever inspires you to transform your everyday life. Enjoy the accelerating process, and much that was promised earlier this year, will leap forward dramatically between now and late August.

This is when we move forward with confidence, knowing we can achieve what we’ve prepared for. Just get ready to finish your emotional, social, or cultural transfiguration, and see the ideal about to take shape in positive actions over the next 8 weeks.

Hi Nic - This one should be good after the recent lunations with too many squares!

Hi Jennifer - I really don't know, since I'm not looking at your SR chart. Squares and crosses can bring major changes, but also turns to new life, and new activities where they fall. All SR charts and planetary positions must be referenced to the natal, since the SR does not operate in a vacuum. For example, if anything in a square or cross favorably aspects other things in the chart, then the squares become releases for that energy.
