Uranus just went stationary retrograde at 25 Aries and Saturn is about to go stationary direct. These indicate major sea changes in their respective areas of influence, and they’ve been in a tight sesquisquare since mid-June. That aspect is a frictional spur to action, affecting where it falls in our chart.
The fact that both of these heavyweight outer planets hit their stations at the same time would be a major event that would get all our attention; that they are in an exact sesquisquare is the kicker. Sesquisquares are part of the 8th harmonic aspects, along with semisquares, squares, and oppositions. Sesquisquares can happen from planets in signs that are harmonious, or disharmonious.
All sesquisquares are frictional and interactive. I have found they don’t necessarily indicate a crisis situation, but they do show a phase where the two planets are agitated and not in harmony with each other, even if they are in signs normally favoring each other, in this case Sagittarius and Aries.
This is a long term influence. Wherever we have Sagittarius and Aries in our charts has been and continues to be agitated in some way. Again, friction without crisis, spurring us to act in a deliberate way to understand and act on something in the houses involved in our charts.
It’s certainly manifesting that way in my chart. Saturn is on the border of my 4th and 5th houses, and Uranus is in my 9th approaching my MC. I have recently realized through frictional events that I will be moving at some point in the not-distant future (4th house), and I have realized I want to write a children’s book (5th house is children). Of course, each of these will take time and planning (Saturn).
Uranus, showing the higher Law of our Being and our ongoing spur to individualization is in my 9th house, governing publishing and spiritual views. I have been spurred to do more writing and teaching since it went into my 9th a while back, and this sesquisquare corresponds with my current priority of finishing my next book, which takes a look at Saturn from a spiritual angle, and how we can take command of our lives by accepting the evolving lessons Saturn brings us at each turn of the wheel of life.
In the work we take a look at what Saturn is, what it “means” in our charts, the part it plays in our evolution from ignorance to awareness, and how we can use Saturn’s qualities to overcome frustrating conditions by exercising dominion over our lower self and live the life we aspire to. There is a section offering an overview of how astrology works, and the second half of the work is dedicated to exploring how Saturn’s conjunctions, squares, and oppositions in our charts can be used wisely at each major turning point in our lives. It should be available in by the end of September, and I’ll let you know how you can order yours once it’s published.
So take a look at where Saturn is in your chart, since it’s the timekeeper helping you restructure that part of your life. Look to where Uranus is, since it’s helping you see ways to break free of binding conditions and claim your spiritual individuality. Wherever this is happening, you’re experiencing “fire by friction” so that you can become inspired or free in some important way.
So this has been and continues to be the Summer of the Saturn sesquisquare Uranus. It’s been in action since mid-June, and will continue to be a huge influence through late August. It will be activated in a BIG way as Mars conjuncts Saturn and makes its sesquisquare to Uranus August 17-27. That’s when we all should get a clear focus about core themes and actions we need to take.
That point also begins a new Mars-Saturn cycle that will last for two years, and those who find the right way to apply their energies will win major rewards. Over the next few weeks, we will get critical information about what to do each time a planet moves through 8-12 Virgo, 22-26 Libra and 8-12 Sagittarius.
Also don’t forget that Saturn is square Neptune, showing the conflict in the collective atmosphere. This is being released in some way each time a planet moves into the Virgo zone of the T-square, releasing into the Gemini void. Everything Jupiter’s part of the T-square promised us earlier this year is now what we need to understand, articulate, or value as Mercury and Venus move across 8-12 Virgo in early August.
The silver lining on this agitated cloud comes from the fact that the Sun in Leo makes very favorable aspects to Uranus all month, harmonizing that part of the equation, and very favorable aspects to Saturn through the first half of August. This gives an offset trine-tredecile combination to both Saturn and Uranus, showing that there is harmony and serendipity despite the friction for those who play to the Leonine Fire.
The combination of the sesquisquares, trines, tredeciles, and T-square show us the need to build through the Fire, and release through the Earth. It should be an exciting time for those with planets pretty much anywhere in the Fire and Air signs, with Gemini energy front and center showing us either the problem or the solution to a problem.
Again, the sesquisquare will be in effect through almost all of August, so mobilize however aggravating it may be, and make the most of it. There is a promise or two to be claimed down the road as a result of this threshold state for Uranus and platform for Saturn. Get ready to get it in gear, take heart, follow a sense of responsibility being awakened, and see how you’re being taught how to get your “inner and outer elements of Being” harmonized for future smooth expression.
Since these two power players are front and center on the world stage, if you want to learn more about the power of Saturn and Uranus to shape our Spiritual and worldly existence, please re-visit Uranus and Saturn – Inspiration and Reality, Freedom and Dharma, Individuality and Destiny. Many themes from that article are explored in greater breadth and depth in the coming book, so stay tuned!
