by Robert Wilkinson
This Full Moon requires that we find strength in surrendering to whatever higher or greater way is opening. This one helps us see our Divine linkage and ability to manage spiritual power.
Important Chart Factors
Given the lack of forming oppositions in this chart, polarization is diminished, while the powerful quintiles involving Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn show high specialization and gifts to be cultivated and demonstrated. All in all the aspect count is highly favorable for spiritual awareness being set into motion as well as redeemed. Much we’ve been waiting for will finally start becoming clear.
All of the aspects which made for the “Great Fracturing” in June are finished except for Saturn square Neptune, accelerated by Mars conjunct Saturn and square Neptune. This major square reveals the widespread chaos in our world, but also opens doors to new developments, the ending of old ghosts, and a need to turn the momentum with skill, showing the power of mind to overcome its problems. When unclear, narrow the focus of your activities and relationships to get a better handle on the whole of things.
Mars is now setting a lot into motion. Hearts will be stirred these next two weeks as we are led into the next level of service, and the “karmic confrontations” we began last October have now being re-examined in the light of how our appreciation has grown since then. Many doors to the future will be opened via the Virgo stellium, but we may not be perfectly clear about it until the September Equinox.
Because we’re in a Locomotive pattern, the energies are spread out across 2/3 of the signs, creating an imbalance that can lead to power if we find the right way to use the “empty spaces” after a period of intense activity. The trine between the leading (Sun in Leo) and ending (Uranus in Aries) planets indicate tremendous power, vision, and promise of something very different and very favorable in the future, triggered when Mars makes its trine to Uranus.
Major Aspects and Configurations
As I mentioned, other than the square from Sagittarius to Pisces, there are very few forming frictional aspects, with many aspects by the spiritual harmonic series. The Moon makes a forming triseptile to Mercury and a binovile to Mars. The triseptile is a nonrational cooperative collective aspect from the 7th harmonic series. This one involves linking our ability to demonstrate managed emotional power with our ability to maintain our inner state of innocence as we deal with the world. Those most affected have planets or angles near 22-26 Virgo, 14-18 Scorpio, 5-9 Capricorn, 26-30 Aquarius, 18-22 Aries, 10-14 Gemini, or 1-5 Cancer.
Binoviles are part of the 9th harmonic spiritual series, and besides the Moon to Mars, we also have Venus binovile Mars and Saturn (astrologers: though the aspect is wide to Saturn, it is pulled together by the Mars conjunction). The binovile involves seeing that apparently contradictory realizations share a common base. Something cooking for a while will become clear, or it will become clear that something still needs to ripen a bit. Even though the Moon is barely separating from the quadranovile to Venus, it still creates a resonant harmonic field stimulating the spiritual growth potential of any planets we have near 4-9 Aries, Leo, and Sag, 14-19 Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn, and 24-29 Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius.
Along with the aspects already discussed, Mercury makes a powerful quintile to Mars and Saturn, conjunction with Jupiter, and quincunx to Uranus; Venus is conjunct Jupiter; The Sun is biseptile Mars and Saturn; Mars is quintile Jupiter, conjunct Saturn, sesquisquare Uranus, and square Neptune; among the outer planets we have only the extraordinarily favorable Jupiter quintile Saturn and tredecile Pluto and the Saturn sesquisquare Uranus re-activated by Mars.
Sun biseptile Mars and Saturn is a major point of shift in the Sun-Mars cycle that began at 24 Gemini in June 2015 as well as the Sun-Saturn cycle that began at 8 Sagittarius in late November 2015. This biseptile puts the light of the linkage between the higher and the lower, the immortal with the mortal, with the stirring of the heart of Mars and the forced growth of Saturn. It most affects those with planets or angles near 24-29 Leo, 15-20 Libra, 6-11 Sagittarius, 28 Capricorn-3 Aquarius, 20-25 Pisces, 12-17 Taurus, and 3-8 Cancer. If you have one of these zones active, your life is about to his a major turning point in how and where it expands in the houses where you have Aries, Cancer, Leo, Scorpio, Capricorn, and Aquarius.
Quintiles and tredeciles are 10th harmonic specializing aspects, binoviles and quadranoviles are 9th harmonic aspects, and biseptiles and triseptiles are 7th harmonic aspects. If you want to know more about these aspects, when you’re done here please go to The Specializing Aspects Pt. 1 – Quintile, Tredecile, Decile, and Biquintile and The Spiritual Aspect Series – The Novile, Septile, and Elftile Harmonic Aspects where you’ll find more about the meaning of these aspects and the glyphs associated with them. Also, remember that all of these set up harmonic resonance void points all over our charts.
As I mentioned in an earlier article, the Grand Irrationality is not active in this Lunation. However, as Venus and then Jupiter move through 2-6 Libra, the configuration will again be triggered in a BIG way, and will be a factor in the coming Solar Eclipse via Venus, and the coming Lunar Eclipse, via Jupiter. Destiny is on the move in September!
If you’re new to the site, briefly, the Grand Irrationality in play for over 20 years, and it has affected various generations at different times. Everyone has been touched at some point in huge ways. Spirit walks with this configuration, as well as any major septile series aspect between the planets.
The choices we make as a result of these non-rational aspects show us our “direction of destiny,” and determines if the Spirit will grow stronger and closer with you, or if you will move in directions away from Spirit. Given that most of this community is intentionally trying to live in harmony with Life, Nature, and each other, chances are that whatever you – yes, YOU the reader – are confronting will show you a deeper, richer, more powerful Spiritual life. Which is a good thing.
Other Factors of Note
This is the tenth Full Moon with the North Node in Virgo. Let’s take a look back at what we’ve been learning from past North Node transits.
When the North Node was in Scorpio between September 2012 and February 2014 we went through a long wave Scorpio process of learning to “shed skins,” and let go of echoes of memories of perceptions by taking a new look at what we used to believe. Factoring in the November 2013 Scorpio Solar Eclipse, we’ve all experienced “gain through loss” since then so that we could have faith, go deeper, and receive impressions from higher planes.
Saturn in Scorpio from October 2012 and December 2014 and the Summer of 2015 helped us intensify our striving in structured ways so we could unveil a life Mystery we’ve been chasing for quite a while. This anchored a deeper emotional stability and magnetism in those who did the hard work of making Saturn their friend.
During the months of Saturn in Scorpio, we incorporated the old North Node in Scorpio lessons into our ongoing responses to life. Saturn also taught us to see a) how we have shifted our magnetism on relationships since then, and/or b) how we need to find a new view or way of understanding the losses and eliminations of the past we’ve been through.
The North Node in Libra symbolized our line of greatest development from Feb 2014 through November 2015. Therefore, the lessons we learned when Saturn was in Libra between 2009 and 2012 were sources of great development during 2014-2015.
Since November 2015, the North Node has been in Virgo, where we are getting pulled to growth through Virgo emphases. This is helping us grow via the Saturn in Virgo lessons we experienced between September 2007 and July 2010. As we also have a stellium in Virgo in this chart, those who learned their Saturn lessons then have been finding truth and/or opportunities of expanding in that direction.
Because Mercury, Venus, and Jupiter have all been conjunct the North Node are conjunct in Virgo, we’ve been in a long term growth pattern of learning ways to expand our lives and effectiveness through practical methods, higher forms of service, learning about health on the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual levels, and moving into whatever “venerable standards” Saturn helped us choose to live as an example to others back in 2009. “Expansive attention to detail,” or being educated by experimenting with social service could describe this set of conjunctions.
Element Balance
Of the traditional 10 planets, there are 4 planets in Fire signs, 1 in Water, 4 in Earth, and 1 in Air. This marks the end of a period where we’ve had no planets in Air signs except the inners, and at this time we have a preponderance of Fire (inspiration) and Earth (Practicality). Air (communicating) is much stronger in this Full Moon, and will be at the Solar Eclipse since Venus will be in its home sign of Libra. After a long period of strength due to Mars in Scorpio, Water (feeling) is now diminished for the rest of the year except when the inner planets move through Scorpio.
4 planets in Fire and 4 planets in Earth indicates a balance between inspiration and practicality. Any sort of practical action is good at this time, especially those that free us for wider things, or open a future more in alignment with our Dharma. Those who surrender to an awakened heart and a need for growth will win big in the future.
Air and Earth are “cool” elements, while Fire and Water are “hot” elements. With this distribution, everything should be well balanced, with the practicality of the Earth planets keeping things grounded.
More on how Uranus Square Pluto Has Ramped Up Radical Energies!
As I’ve mentioned off and on over the past 4+ years, we’re all learning to manage the “out of control” energies of Uranus in Aries square Pluto in Capricorn. For more than a few years, they have symbolized the global collision of ideas at this point in history, and from time to time have been at the forefront of the hard edge of the conflict between control systems and the forces of individualization that are calling everyone to a greater spiritual individuality.
Even though the exact square is past, we’re still dealing with the “mundane square” between Aries and Capricorn. These two planets are now back in a forming trielftile, showing they’ve taken us out of the dynamic square and into a spiritualizing relationship where we have to find a synthesis of understanding despite the dualities of the friction.
Their angular relationship is narrowing, and by late October they will again begin to trigger the square. By late October they’ll be 96+ degrees apart, and by Dec-Jan they’ll be 93 degrees apart. This sets up a “dual-pulse friction” for the next few months which will be triggered by the Moon 4 times a month, and the inner planets transiting Libra.
As planets move through mid to late Libra, Uranus will be 98 degrees wide from Pluto, but the planets making the square to Pluto followed a week later by the opposition to Uranus will “collect the light” and bring a T-square back into play, throwing the void into Cancer. How we handle that T-square will have major implications for the seeds that begin to sprout when the inner planets conjunct Pluto and then square Uranus.
I’ve discussed this aspect at length in many articles in the archives. Please use the site google box to find out more about this years’ long disruptive revolutionary influence. Welcome to the 21st century of upheaval, transformation, and titanic collisions between a new world being born and an old age that’s digging in even as it’s dying.
That square represents the ongoing revolution of our times, with innovations and pioneering energies in conflict with restrictive and controlling power structures. We’ve been dealing with this for a few years, and it certainly introduced us all to a very “electric and eclectic” revolution unlike any seen since the 1960s!!
Uranus is now moving through a span of degrees it hasn’t transited since 1932-1934. Given what was happening then and the parallels to what’s going on now, stay alert to those who are impatient or petulant in wanting to change things in a hurry, as well as those who are willing to wage ideological war against others. There are promises to be redeemed later this year, as well as greater ones in 2017, but using blunt force to push will destroy the good that could come.
Saturn was trine Uranus earlier this year, but moved back to a brief quadraelftile in late May on its way to making its current sesquisquare, activated in a big way by Mars in this Lunation. The sesquisquare has been a huge influence in June, July, and August, and represents the substantial “fire by friction” in our world. We have all had to mobilize in some way in order to reshape our perceptions so that we can redeem a promise in the future. By September when Mars moves through Sag and trines Uranus, we should see things in motion related to the promises to be redeemed in 2017.
By late September Saturn and Uranus will again be in quadraelftile, and by mid-October approaching their long term trine. This Fire trine will predominate all of late 2016 through 2017, and then they slip into an Earth trine in 2018. Great for blending the old and the new, the innovative with the structure!
Saturn trine Uranus shows a time when there is a possibility of harmonizing the old with the new. It indicates a time when what’s established can accept innovations and individualizing impulses to open doors to a wider effectiveness in the future. This one takes what is possible and synthesizes it within a greater law of uniqueness or pioneering initiatives.
The Fire trine opens heart fires, and over the long run we’ll see this aspect unleashing a new type of artistic intensity, even for those who are not artists. The trine earlier in 2016 set an inspirational pattern wherever we have the middle degrees of the Fire signs in our charts, and this will take clearer shape from October 2016 on through December 2017.
Pluto has now finished its years of teaching us harmlessness, kindness, and magnetism that brings forth a more gentle set of interactions through the deeper transformations going on in our lives. Keep purifying yourself in every way, since the less sludge we carry forward the lighter and freer we’ll feel.
As we learn to master Uranus square Pluto, we will be able to see the true causes of any social disorder, constructive versus destructive justifications and motives, and see where mistrust and mischief-making originate. This allows us to grow into a greater power when we’re confronted by old Pluto roles, coercions, and heavy-handed corrosive behavior. We can use the square between Uranus and Pluto in two big ways, both now and into the future.
We can exercise good Pluto function to put the brakes on negative Uranian manifestations, and good Uranus function to put the brakes on negative Pluto manifestations. Look to the harmonizing aspects to each to show which is building and which one is the release point for those energies. In this chart, Uranus is specializing many things in everyone’s lives, so go with the new rather than the established.
Thinking, then Deciding, then Feeling with an Overview of the Lunation
We’ve been through several different sequences over the past few months. There are six patterns, and each has their strengths and weaknesses. This one continues the pattern of the recent New Moon.
As a process of moving through events, the most effective “firing sequence” for approaching life and experience involves leading with our deciding or acting, and following that with feeling or experiencing what follows that decision or action. Then after you feel what you need to feel, don’t simply go back to more actions, but instead move into new ideas, a new vision, new understanding, or a communication so that you come to a new way of viewing what’s going on.
So over the next two weeks we’ll lead with our decisions and actions, after which we’ll need to reference our feelings and experience about those decisions and actions. After we decide or act and then feel, we then need to find newer, more up to date information so we can get a new way of viewing those actions and our experience of those actions.
So get it in gear, and then go to your feelings and check in about how you’re experiencing those decisions and actions, after which find a new view, a new understanding, new information, and new interactions that can help you see clearly what must be done and how. Then do it, and again feel what you must on the basis of that decision. Periods of solitude may be required after a critical decision or action. After that direct experience of feelings the results of your decision and action, then find the information from which a new understanding or vision will arise.
A New Look at Mercury Retrograde
Mercury entered its “shadow zone” a few days ago, Venus just entered that zone, and Jupiter’s been hanging out in that zone, preparing for the triple conjunction at the end of August and beginning of September. So it’s Mercury retrograde time! Mercury is currently slowing down fast, preparing to go retrograde. While I’ll be posting more about the coming retrograde in Virgo, if you don’t already have a copy, you can get A New Look At Mercury Retrograde from Createspace.com for the paperback, or Amazon or Barnes and Noble for an ebook.
The first major work on Mercury retrograde ever written, it offers in-depth information about Mercury retrograde people, Mercury retrograde in the various signs and houses, and what the entire Mercury Retrograde phenomenon is about. I go into how Mercury retrograde people think and work through things, and possible ways that parents of Mercury retrograde children can facilitate the roundabout interpretive and communication styles in their child’s development.
Of course, by knowing more about 2014's Mercury retrograde periods in Pisces/Aquarius, Cancer/Gemini, and Scorpio/Libra, as well as 2015’s Mercury retrograde periods in Aquarius, Gemini, and Libra, you may see patterns in what was going on in your life, what you were taking a new look at and why, and how this "looking back" influenced your choices as you moved through past events. Besides getting insights into the January 2016 retrograde in Aquarius and Capricorn and the April-May retrograde in Taurus, you can also find out more about what we can expect from the coming 2016 Mercury retrograde in Capricorn.
Here's the Amazon link to the page where you can purchase a paperback edition of A New Look at Mercury Retrograde. You can also get a Kindle ebook at that site, or go to Barnes and Noble for a copy on Nook.
Summing it Up
Sun trine Uranus activates the powerful Fire trine energies we’ll encounter throughout the Autumn that anticipates Saturn trine Uranus next year. This should bring renewed optimism, confidence, and heart strength, so surrender whatever you need to in order to find or demonstrate the power of the radiant heart.
We eliminated a lot earlier this year because of what we learned between late 2012 and the Summer of 2015. That was necessary, because a full glass cannot take in new contents, but an empty glass can be filled. From time to time we must create space in the material, emotional, mental, and spiritual parts of our life so we can embrace new actions, feeling responses, thoughts, and spiritual practices in the next season. That season has now begun!
Because life seems to be a never-ending experience of out-breathing elements of the past and in-breathing elements of the new, it is useful to remember that when we are moving through major changes, when something is introduced into our lives, something else must leave, or has already left, to provide space for the new to be embraced. And lesser wisdom must give way to greater wisdom, and old forms give way to newer realities.
While sometimes having to say goodbye to older, lesser ways of life can be a drag, it is important to remember that even though life can occasionally be painful, we do not have to suffer. And as we learn to break the link between pain and suffering, we heal our part of humanity and the world.
For your contemplation, a final meditation I offer each month at the end of our Full Moon journey of exploration.
We are Light. All things are composed of Light in various frequencies that express as limitless forms. Some light frequencies are of greater density than others.
All shadows result from light hitting a dense object. Psychological shadows too. Therefore, it’s good to become as translucent and translucid as possible to dispel lurking shadows.
If you must look at and/or deal with shadows, whether your own or another’s, then refocus your Light on the object being illuminated, since that form is the source of the shadow.
Find the correct 4 angles of illuminating whatever you want to focus on, and all shadows will be dispelled. Then you’re seeing things with an illuminated mind, and can act accordingly.
