Astrology in February 2017 - On The Threshold of a Penumbral Lunar Eclipse at 23 Leo-Aquarius

We have a long Penumbral Lunar Eclipse coming in a few days!

As I've told you before, no eclipse of itself is "bad," nor do we have anything to fear. There is a lot of superstition about Eclipses, mostly focusing on "dreadful" or difficult elements that often seem to accompany them. However, while all eclipses take something away and/or shut something down, an Eclipse can have beneficial effects if we just know "when to hold 'em, when to fold 'em, when to walk away, and when to run."

Eclipses are both dreaded and misunderstood recurring phenomena. Solar Eclipse effects usually last for several years, while Lunar Eclipse effects usually last for a few months.

This Penumbral Lunar Eclipse happens on February 10, 4:33 pm PST, 7:33 pm EST, and 12:33 am GMT on February 11. The total penumbral phase of the eclipse will last 4 hours and 19+ minutes, showing an influence lasting over 4 months!

Today we'll discuss a lot about eclipses in general and a little about this one. In following articles I'll elaborate on the astrophysics of the phenomenon, who is most affected by this Eclipse, symbols, aspects, patterns, and what we can expect from this Penumbral Lunar Eclipse at 23 Aquarius-Leo.

There is a lot of fear and trepidation connected to Eclipses, an unfortunate leftover from previous centuries when Eclipses were believed to augur the fall of empires, dynasties, and powerful people anywhere the Eclipse shadow fell. While Eclipses do tend to shut down some elements in the area of life (house) in which they fall, this is not necessarily a bad thing, since we must bring some things to an end if we are to embrace newer, better ways of doing our Being. While the future effects of an Eclipse may be powerful, in that they last over a long period, they are not necessarily bad.

No Astrological event need be "bad," or have "evil" effects, regardless of whether we're using Vedic, Chinese, Western, or any other approach to defining "All-That-Is" within a precise system of space-time factors. Though a circumstance may seem to have "bad" omens for the future, we can always transcend any negativity and turn the future to beneficent possibilities. No matter where an Eclipse falls, we can turn it to good.

Here it is important to remember Astrology is NOT a "predictive" art, in the usual way this is understood. The craft is less deterministic than most believe, including we professional Astrologers who seem to be able to "hit the mark" regarding future manifestations.

Pattern is everything, and time is a continuum. By knowing the past and present, we can often extrapolate the future. But we can never know how a being will respond to any given life challenge, whether pleasant or painful. Each has their ability to respond as they choose in the moment.

This directly related to the concept that each planet has a duality of function. It is up to us to determine whether the Moon, Sun, Mercury or any other planet involved in eclipses, "bad" aspects, configurations and other phenomena manifests productively or non-productively.

To remind you, a square can be more productive than a trine, and an opposition can produce awareness. Polarization is only a problem on the ego level. Seen from a higher angle, oppositions are necessary for us to acquire objectivity and the ability to encompass duality within a higher view.

By all means, check out the entire article, since I explained how past eclipses affected my chart, and gave examples of the good that can come after an eclipse removes old patterns. This Penumbral Lunar Eclipse in Virgo-Pisces over time will lead us to public recognition in some way, as long as we do the self-mobilizing self-purification to achieve a more ideal focus.

This Eclipse period will be a time of building an adequate vehicle so we may demonstrate spiritual power in the future, so consider what’s coming to be a time of training to master our senses, our feelings, and our mental tendencies. Some will find themselves demonstrating things beyond their previous expectations, so consider it all as showing how well trained parts of your personality are, and how well they work together to show others your courage and mastery.

With the numerous harmonious aspects in play, we have 5 points of a Great Sextile Six Pointed Star pattern! This will bring forth exceptionally favorable spiritual energy for all who have planets between 9-15 and 20-28 degrees of Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Sagittarius, and Aquarius, as well as the early degrees of Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, and Pisces. Even if some things are taken away by this Eclipse, it’s all for the good, since the vacuum should be filled with manifestations that are perfect for us! I’ll discuss more about the aspects in a future article coming soon.

Though there are always endings associated with any Eclipse, these open the space we need to align with Spirit in natural and productive ways. Take a new look to see what really matters and what you do and do not want to bring with you into the new world opening before your very eyes.

Sensitivity, tenderness, providing for some need, and nurturing what needs care are the keys to integrating the spiritual with the material in the coming Eclipse period. This introduces us all to a new dedication, a new valor or courage, and a new way of upholding a standard of some group effort or dedication. This will be a phenomenally productive and harmonizing Eclipse, with new strengths and new vision coming forth over the next few months.

In answer to questions about why I don’t include the Lunar Eclipses from years past in this section, it’s because their effects are usually only for a few months, and so they’ve completed their work long before many long lasting Solar Eclipses. If you’re interested, you will always find what I wrote a couple of weeks before or after the Solar Eclipses, depending on when the Lunar Eclipses fell in those years. They’re all in the archives.
