Yes, Mercury is now in its “shadow zone,” preparing to go stationary retrograde at 12 Virgo 6:01 pm PDT August 12, 2:01 am BST August 13. It has already begun to slow down, “crashing into retrograde.”
This will be a very important Mercury retrograde period, since it coincides with the coming Total Solar Eclipse at 29 Leo on August 21. I’ll be writing numerous article about this Mercury retrograde AND the Solar Eclipse over the next few weeks, so stay tuned!
For now, begin to wrap up whatever you need to, since Mercury retrograde usually brings forms of delays, as well as returns from the past. You can now begin to take a “first look” at the themes of the coming retrograde, and get ready for many things to be “unveiled,” with the need to act with precision and discipline to ground the energies of this Grand Fire Trine “Summer of Love.”
Before it goes retrograde, Mercury will make a very important tredecile and biseptile to Saturn. This heralds both serendipitous ideas and understanding, and is an important harbinger for the future, since all the planets will make these aspects to Saturn as they also move through the first decan of Virgo, and Mercury will make them THREE times in the next 7+ weeks!
Unique and specializing interactive events will most affect those with planets or angles near 2-6 Virgo/Pisces, 8-12 Libra/Aries, 14-18 Scorpio/Taurus, 20-24 Sagittarius/Gemini, and 26-30 Capricorn/Cancer. Go for the unique interactions and circumstances that show you’ve hit a “quintessential” point in those things.
Current and future “forks in the road of destiny” will be confronted by those with planets or angles near 20-24 Sagittarius, 12-16 Aquarius, 3-7 Aries, 25-29 Taurus, 16-20 Cancer, 8-12 Virgo, and 29 Libra-3 Scorpio. If you’re impacted by this “septile series” event, whatever you confront during August 2-6 will have a direct relationship to events presenting themselves in retrograde fashion Aug 19-22, Aug 30-Sep 3, and especially Sep 16-21, when Mercury and Mars make their conjunction at 8 Virgo, EXACTLY biseptile Saturn at 22 Sag! Pay attention to the events, ideas, understanding, and interactions up front, and you’ll know how to handle the back end in fine style.
You can find out a lot more about the coming Mercury retrograde in Virgo and Leo by getting a copy of the expanded 2nd edition of my pioneering book A New Look At Mercury Retrograde. The first major work on Mercury retrograde ever written, it offers in-depth information about Mercury retrograde people, Mercury retrograde in the various signs and houses, and what the entire Mercury Retrograde phenomenon is about. If you want to know what we can expect from Mercury retrograde in Virgo/Leo, or the last ones in Taurus/Aries and Sag/Capricorn, or the others in any other sign and the influence in the houses, it’s all in there.
By knowing more about 2017's Mercury retrograde periods, as well as 2016’s Mercury retrograde periods in Aquarius/Capricorn, Taurus, and Virgo (where we all started to “escape from an old destiny,”) you may see patterns in what was going on in your life, what you were taking a new look at and why, and how this "looking back" influenced your choices as you moved through past events.
Here's the Amazon link to the page where you can purchase a paperback edition of A New Look at Mercury Retrograde. You can also get a Kindle ebook at that site, or go to Barnes and Noble for a copy on Nook. (Please note that if you go to amazon, make sure you're ordering the 2015 edition, and not the earlier one. There are plenty of used ones for sale, but they are far inferior to the newest edition.)

I didn't realize how complicated this was! I have been reading mixed opinions about Mercury in retrograde and the solar eclipse. My husband and I are going to sign final papers for our home purchase, and I cannot narrow down when to schedule it. On one hand there are proponents for signing during this time and others who think it's a horrible idea. Another thing about the solar eclipse is that some people consider it starting something brand new, whereas others consider it a poor omen. What are your opinions?

Hi Jenna - There are certain rules for signing leases which are too extensive for a quick gloss. It's complicated, but not that complicated. First, don't worry about the eclipse. An eclipse shuts an old life down. Buying certainly does that. As for Merc RX, it's usually not good to sign papers on an RX, but I signed an apt lease once during Merc RX, and I had the place for years!
This week is actually good, since the Lunar Eclipse is exceptionally favorable, and we have great aspects, like Sun trine Saturn. If you go into it to any extent, find a time when the Moon is favorable, since that will be the quality of you being there. Moon in Pisces is dreamy, Moon in Aries is agitated, Moon is Taurus is stable, but you may never move! Much has to do with the time of day when you sign, since that puts certain signs on certain houses, influencing the environment (3 house), home itself (4 house), etc.
So stop worrying about the Eclipse and Merc RX, since they are not primary factors in signing house papers, unless you are agreeing to something you don't know you're agreeing to. That's the Merc RX. Make sure it's all the way it should be.

Similar to the last question, We had to sign a contract with our home-builder to make our commitment to start construction on our new home which has been ongoing in discussion for months. It has been reviewed by my lawyer previously. We signed the document around 9:15 pm on Aug 8th. We are also going to be starting this project any day now. I'm all stressed out about the timing and beginning this during mercury retrograde. Any thoughts or am I doomed?? please help ease this
