Yesterday we introduced the idea that we all are influenced by planetary cycles that began long before we were born, and will persist long after we leave our bodies. Today we take a closer look at some cycles that began a while back which have been activated in recent years.
As I offered you in part 1, the outermost planets represent various “root tones” in the symphony of planetary motion. Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, and TransPluto take many years to make a complete circuit of the zodiac, and have their own interrelated themes. Uranus awakens, Neptune unifies, Pluto purifies, and TransPluto redeems.
As planets closer to the Sun orbit, they conjunct these outer planets every so often, and sometimes multiple times, due to retrogradation. Each time the other planets make a conjunction to one of the “root tone” planets, we have an intensification of those energies, both in the general atmosphere as well as our particular chart. The farther out the planets, the longer wave cycle set into motion.
I offered that we’re still within the cycles that began in:
1890-93 (Neptune conjunct Pluto at 7-9 Gemini),
1908-09 (Neptune conjunct TransPluto at 17 Cancer),
1938-39 (Pluto conjunct TransPluto at 1-2 Leo),
1957-58 (Uranus conjunct TransPluto at 9-10 Leo),
1965-66 (Uranus conjunct Pluto at 17-18 Virgo),
1992-93 (Uranus conjunct Neptune at 19-20 Capricorn)
In that article we discussed that in these long wave cycles, there are two significant “pulses” in when we experience a mass phase shift. One is when a planet makes squares and oppositions to the conjunction point, and the other comes later, when the transit to transit square is made between the two planets.
The former happens relatively quickly, since they are fixed points activated by subsequent aspects, whereas the latter may not happen for many decades or centuries, since both planets are moving forward at their relative rates of speed, which vary depending on whether they are perihelion (closest to the Sun and fastest in speed) or apehelion (farthest away from the Sun and slowest in speed) in their orbit. That’s why some planets spend a lot longer time in certain signs than others.
We now turn to examining some other long wave cycle dynamics. Jupiter and Saturn mark long wave social and cultural cycles, and as each conjuncts planets outside their orbit, it creates openings and closing of how those Transpersonal Spiritual planets take shape in our world. Saturn conjunct Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, and TransPluto gives form and structure to various manifestations of those Spiritual “pulses,” while Jupiter opens broader possibilities of social and cultural spiritual belief systems, and closes old ones as well. We’ll look at Saturn today, and Jupiter tomorrow.
Saturn-TransPluto
This is how the collective transpersonal redemptive pulse takes a structure that is alternatively lacking in compassion, or overwhelmingly compassionate and mature as it finds vaster ways of Divine manifestations.
Saturn conjuncted TransPluto in 1946-47, exact at 4 and 5 Leo, again in 1976-77, exact at 17 Leo, and again in 2007 at 28 Leo, which is the cycle we’re in. As we discussed, the square and opposition points to these happened or will happen well before the transiting Saturn squares and oppositions to transiting Pluto. Saturn squared the conjunction degree Nov-Dec 2014, but transiting Saturn didn’t square transiting TransPluto until 2015 at 1 and 2 Sagittarius to Virgo.
Saturn-Pluto
This is how the collective transpersonal transformative pulse takes a structure that is alternatively challenged and stabilized across decades. This cycle is about collective fear, transformation, and mastery.
Saturn conjuncted Pluto in 1946-48, exact at 14 Leo, again in 1982-83, exact at 28 Libra, which is the one we’re in right now. They will again conjunct in 2019-2020, exact at 23 Capricorn. Each of these made or will make those degree points “hot spots” that are triggered at subsequent transits.
Again, the squares and opposition points to these will happen well before the transiting Saturn squares and oppositions to transiting Pluto. Saturn squared the 1982-83 conjunction point at 28 Libra from 28 Capricorn in 1991, but didn’t make a transit to transit square until 1993 from 26 Aquarius to 26 Scorpio and again in 1994 from 28 Aquarius to 28 Scorpio.
Saturn opposed the conjunction point at 28 Aries between May 1998 and Feb 1999, but transiting Saturn didn’t oppose transiting Pluto until 2001-02 at 13, 14, and 17 Gemini. Saturn made the waning square to the conjunction point at 28 Cancer in Oct-Nov 2004 and June-July 2005, but the transiting waning square didn’t happen until 2009-10 from 2, 3, and 5 Libra to Capricorn.
Saturn-Neptune
This is how the collective transpersonal unifying field takes a structure that is alternatively clear or foggy across decades. This cycle is about collective fears, rules, and what is popularly “in vogue” or acceptable to the powers that be.
Saturn conjuncted Neptune in 1952-53, exact at 21,22, and 24 Libra, and again in 1989, exact at 11-12 Capricorn. That’s the one we’re in right now. Saturn squared the 1989 conjunction point in Mar-Apr 1997, while the transit to transit square happened in 1998-99 from 30 Aries to 30 Capricorn and 2 and 5 Taurus to 2 and 5 Aquarius.
Saturn opposed the conjunction point 2003-04, while the transit opposition happened 2006-07 with Saturn at 18 and 22 Leo opposing Neptune at 18 and 22 Aquarius. Saturn was waning square the conjunction degree at 11-12 Libra in 2010-11, while the transit to transit square happened 2015-2016 from 8, 11, and 13 Sagittarius to Pisces.
Saturn-Uranus
This is how the collective transpersonal individualizing and awakening force takes a structure that is alternatively harmonious or disruptive across decades. This cycle is about collective rules being broken, and the awakening of structures that will challenge the established system.
Saturn conjuncted Uranus in 1987-88, exact at 28, 29, and 30 Sagittarius. It made a waxing square to those points in Mar-Apr 1996, but didn’t make a transit to transit square until 1999-2000 from 14, 16, and 21 Taurus to Aquarius.
Saturn opposed the conjunction point in 2002-03, while the transit to transit opposition occurred in 2008-09 from 19, 21, and 25 Virgo to Pisces. It made the waning square in Oct 2009 and Apr-July 2010, while the transit to transit square will occur 2021-22.
In part 3 we’ll examine Jupiter cycles, and tie a bunch of this together. In part 4, we'll take it to a new level.
