This impacts the planets and houses where we have Aries and Scorpio, and begins a new phase of implementing our ideals!
Mars enters Libra at 11:30 am PDT, 7:30 pm BST on October 22. This continues to bring in extraordinarily transformative energies, and begins a period of activating all the planetary conjunctions to Jupiter in Libra this past year!
Mars, the planet of taking the initiative and getting things into motion wherever it is, has moved from the fire of Leo this past Summer through the earth of Virgo since early September, and now begins its expression through the air of Libra. Flooded with energy in Leo, learned lessons of “significant form” in Virgo, it now can make manifest its initiatives through ideal forms, archetypes, and a transfiguration field of Libra.
The last time Mars was in Libra was between mid-November 2015 and early January 2016. Now that Mars has returned to Libra, it will trigger all planetary events that have happened in Libra since then, and of course, commence another cycle of lessons related to the time when Saturn was in Libra between late Oct 2009 and early April 2010, and July 2010 through October 2012.
Taking a look back, we see that the Sun conjuncted Jupiter at 4 Libra in late September 2016, offering us opportunities since then to join with others who share our heart fire, or common hope. As this is the first Mars transit over that point, this should activate the promise set into motion a year ago.
We also had Mercury conjunct Jupiter at 7 Libra in mid-October 2016, which will be set into motion when Mars transits that point on Nov 1-2. The next hot spot is Jupiter’s June SD degree at 14 Libra, and then the February SRX degree at 24 Libra. That was the final trigger point, since Venus had an early transit of Libra before Jupiter entered that sign, there was only its conjunction with Jupiter in late Virgo, as described in the article on Mars at 30 Virgo.
Aspects
Mars in Libra will make a lot of aspects! The first period features a triseptile to Uranus, followed by a novile and semisquare from Mercury, a binovile to Saturn, a quadranovile to Neptune, and a biseptile to Pluto in late October. These are followed by Mars quadranovile Uranus and triseptile Neptune, Mercury septile Mars, Mars quincunx Neptune, and quintile Saturn through the first half of November.
The last half of November features Mercury sextile Mars, Sun novile Mars, Mars square Pluto and biquintile Neptune stationary direct, and finally novile Jupiter. Early December brings Mars opposed Uranus and sesquisquare Neptune, activating the Rhombus Diamond anchoring configuration! We also find Sun semisquare Mars, Mars sextile Saturn, Mars binovile Pluto, and finally Mercury retrograde sextile Mars again!
As you can see, late October has some very spiritual aspects, as well as the activation of the Grand Irrationality! This is followed by a very productive period, with major friction! Still, a time of immense spiritual potential and recalibration. Many dues will be paid, or seen to have been paid, between mid-November and early December. Again, remember the lessons Saturn brought you when it occupied this sector between Dec 2010 and Mar 2011, and Sept 2011 through October 2012.
Dispositors
During the time Mars is in Libra, Venus will be its dispositor during the time it’s in is home sign of Libra between October 14 and November 7. As Mars will be in Libra through December 9, that means when Venus is in Scorpio from Nov 7 through Dec 1, Venus and Mars will be in “mutual reception,” a very powerful “closed loop” of self-reinforcing energies.
Of immense importance is now that Jupiter has entered Scorpio, Mars will be its dispositor for the next year! That has major implications, since Mars is now one of the anchors of the “chain of dispositors” involving Pluto, Saturn, and Jupiter. As Mercury is in Scorpio, Mars will also be its dispositor until it enters Sagittarius Nov 5. When the Sun enters Scorpio on Oct 22, Mars will be its dispositor until it too enters Sag on Nov 21. As you can see, Mars is heavily involved in the backdrop to many things going on at present!
So Mars in Libra brings the backdrop of balance, a sense of perspective and/or proportion, as well as a sense of the beauty or lack thereof to many other planets in the heavens. As Jupiter and Mercury have already begun to amp up the Scorpionic energies in the sky, Mars in Libra will help us moderate our Scorpionic explorations and sense of what we need to eliminate from our lives. And since the first half of Libra deals with transfiguration, that theme is front and center for the next few weeks as Mars streaks through that sector of the zodiac.
The Present As Prologue
So while Mars now activates the Libra sector in our charts and all the conjunctions made this past year, we also have the anticipatory spotlight on Scorpio, with signs, signals, and ideas related to that sign in play. This gives Mars added importance in all things related to Mercury and Jupiter, as well as the signs they rule, Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces.
Since we are learning to moderate, balance, and refine our inner Scorpio, it’s good to remember that when we have mastered our inner Scorpio, we know how to eliminate what is obsolete or no longer needed in our life. Because Nature abhors a vacuum, as we clear out old ideas, feelings, desires, and habits, we naturally attract people and circumstances that mirror who we are in the Here and Now.
Learning how to control our magnetism and “hold the emptiness” allows us to attract the highest good for who we are now, if we have cultivated how to attract that and are open to that highest good to come. Along the way, we find that also involves letting go of impatience to see new forms before the time is ripe. We are a work in progress, and sometimes it takes a while before we can receive what is our divine due.
Mars in Libra dispositing all things in Scorpio this year ushers in a period of finding the right pulse, the right perspective, the right proportion, and the right rhythm of initiative. While Mars is in “exile” in Libra, used correctly it combines different kinds of power, different styles of initiative, with well-rounded forms of applying exact force needed to make things pleasing, or more fair and just.
