On October 26 at 11:10 am PDT, 2:10 pm EDT, 7:10 pm BST, the Sun conjuncts Jupiter at 4 Scorpio. This is important, because it’s time to go deep into the symbols of your life!
Each year the Sun conjuncts Jupiter, illuminating and powering up the Jupiter lesson of that degree for the next 13 months. Where the conjunction falls is where we get a new set of truths, higher and/or broader understanding, or maybe just opportunities to expand our lives.
Obviously, as Jupiter moves through the signs, it brings a different “tone” to the houses where we have Sagittarius and Pisces. Thinks back on recent years, and see how each year Jupiter occupied a given sign that “colored” your experiences in Jupiterian ways. As Jupiter shifts signs, it also changes the backdrop to planets we have in Sagittarius and Pisces.
During the past few years, we’ve had the Sun conjunct Jupiter at the very beginning of each sign. As the Sun conjuncts Jupiter, it lights up the Jupiterian promise, or message, or grace, or possibility in those parts of our life. The degree of the conjunction becomes “an enlightened promise,” or “illuminated adventure” in the life area shown by the house it falls in.
Past, Present, and Future Sun-Jupiter Conjunctions
Because of irregularities in Jupiter’s orbit, the conjunction doesn’t always fall in successive signs. In 2010, the conjunction was at 10 Pisces in late February. In 2011, it was at 17 Aries in early April. In 2012, the conjunction was at 24 Taurus in mid-May. In 2013, it fell at 29 Gemini in mid-June. In 2014, the conjunction was at 2 Leo in late July.
That means there was no Sun conjunct Jupiter in Cancer during this period in history. The last one was in 2002, and next one will be 2025. Because of the speed of Jupiter's orbit, every so often a sign will be skipped, which has its own interesting implications.
Resuming the string of conjunctions, in 2015 it was at 4 Virgo in late August. In 2016, it was at 4 Libra in late September. This year it happens at 4 Scorpio. Next year it will happen at 4 Sagittarius in late November, and in 2019 it will happen at 6 Capricorn in late December.
How the Conjunction Manifests After the Event
Each of these conjunctions lights up a “hot spot” of illuminated opportunity, truth, or adventure in our charts that lasts a year. However, it is triggered different times in different ways by the transits of other planets over the degree of the conjunction.
In fact, often we will see major results of that promise activated as Mars transits the degree, with the other planets each bringing elements of that promise via its “department of labor.” This can mean through people or opportunities in circumstances described by the sign of the conjunction.
For example, the 2014 conjunction was at 4 Leo. That means each Summer when the Sun, Mercury, and Venus pass over 4 Leo, we get new information via those planets of the promise activated in late July 2014. And it’s been reactivated with each Mars transit of that degree in mid-August 2015 and late July 2017.
The 2015 conjunction at 4 Virgo was hyper charged due to Venus dancing with Mars in Leo during that season, with Mars quickly activating the conjunction degree in late September, and Venus capturing concrete forms of it in mid-October. Not much waiting for that one to manifest!!
The 2016 conjunction degree was transited by Mercury in mid-October, but that degree was not reactivated until this year’s Solar transit, followed quickly by Mercury, Venus, and now Mars. Yes, Mars is now activating last year’s Sun conjunct Jupiter! The energy of finding those who share our heart fire will now become more active in our lives.
Sabian Symbol for the Conjunction
This conjunction is at 4 Scorpio. The symbol for the 4th degree of Scorpio is “A youth holding a lighted candle.” In the Jones class notes, Rudhyar says this is a degree of “Beginning of spiritual participation in the world’s work,” sustained inspiration,” and “conscious linkage to inner realities.”
In the Astrological Mandala, he goes on to say that this degree is about “the educative power of ceremonies which impress the great images of a culture upon its gathered participants.” He goes on to state this degree is a technique by which communities feel a common bond through the symbols they share. These embody the values of the culture, and minds are shaped by those symbols.
He offers us this this “pictures for us the method by which a community of feelings is built during formative years,” where “the power of symbols is evident.” He says this degree falls in the Span of Retention, Act of Group Integration, and Scene of Communion on the technical degree of the Actional level.
Dr. Jones says this is a degree of “a true contact with inner and transcendental realms of reality,” and rewards that come from realizing “the continuing ties between the least of individuality and universal life as such.” He continues “there are always evidences of higher meaning and immortal value in each moment’s detail of everyday living,” with enthusiasm rising as we get a clear vision that brings “every possible sustainment” in our practical existence.
He offers us the keyword RELIANCE. He states that when operating in a positive manner, this degree “is an unquenchable and irresistible confidence in the goodness and integrity of all things.”
So the theme of this conjunction shows the Light of newer, deeper, and more intense Jupiter energy over the next year is illuminating a promise, truth, or adventure. Its themes include linking to our inner self and finding forms of inspiration, as well as building more powerful connections with others and seeing all that happens in its deeper symbolic meaning.
Whether we’re sending or receiving archetypal signals, stay focused on the inner contacts being discovered or strengthened. Find the “continuing ties between YOU and the Universal Life” and you will find meaning and purpose in the “expansive losses and regenerations” promised by this conjunction. This can broaden your magnetic power, and deepen your connection to the collective field in which you live.
Summing Up
So we’ve finished a year of opening to more ideal relationships and finding those who share our heart fire (even if these have barely begun to manifest). We now begin new ways of exploring the higher, wider, and deeper qualities of life, and strengthening our magnetic bond with some things while letting go of all we do not need. Lighten your load voluntarily, and make space for a much broader future promised when the Sun conjuncts Jupiter in Sagittarius a year and a bit from now!
Any conjunction to Jupiter ends an old view and begins a newer, broader vista of perception as a result of our movement since the last conjunction. We’re in a season of getting a bigger view of things, and finding an illuminated peace in that broader understanding. The past year has been Activating Air; the coming year is Stable Water.
The Scorpio conjunctions this year actually began with Mercury’s conjunction to Jupiter at 2 Scorpio. This one activates at 4 Scorpio, Venus will transit both conjunction points in early November, finally making its conjunction with Jupiter at 8 Scorpio in mid-November, and Mars will activate all of the above between December 10 and the Solstice before making its conjunction in early January at 18 Scorpio. As you can see, we have a tremendous activation of Scorpio energy coming over the next few weeks that will last all of 2018 and 2019.
So consider a new adventure has been launched wherever you have 4 Scorpio in your chart. This adventure will be easy or hard on other parts of your life depending on what aspects are in play. Because the conjunction makes some very good aspects, a smoother flow is in store for us all, as well as unique gifts. In any case, by this time next year, all our lives will be transformed, and much will have been repaired that needs attention.

Hi Robert. Thank you for this inspirational article. My progressed MC is at 1d 45' taurus - opp. Mercury/Jupiter conj. and my pr. Venus is at 3d 45' Taurus - opp. Sun/Jupiter conj. My natal Venus is 18d 45'Aries in 11thH. Tr. Pluto is squareing it from my 8th natal House. Pr.Sun at 18d 43' Gem. sext. n. Venus. Pr. Sun also sext.pr.Mars in Leo which conj.n.Uranus. Anyway, there is a lot of Venusian activity for me at the time. In my Solar Return this year SR Venus conj.SR Chiron opp.SR MC. I am at a point where I decided, as a supplement to the personal development program I'm making, for the anti-aging an longevity part, I have included the production of a series of energy skin care procucts, which I make myself. They are very much liked so far. I think I have a lot to see from this initiative.

Hopefully, this conjunction trining my Pisces Sun@4 degrees means the wind is at my back & filling my sails for the next year.
Thank you, Robert. For the inspiration and motivation.
