March 21 is International Astrology Day in most of the world! It's also a day of celebration around the world for other reasons!
It is, of course, the Vernal Equinox in the Northern Hemisphere, and the Autumnal Equinox in the Southern. Thanks to Wikipedia, we also find it's the Iranian new year (Norouz), celebrated throughout the Middle East and Central Asia. It's also the beginning of the Bahá'í calendar, Ostara, and Chunfen in Asia. And of course it would be "Vernal Equinox Day," which we are told is a public holiday in Japan.
So we now pass out of the dream time of the Sun at 30 Pisces, and power up a new season which puts the focus directly on Aries. With the Moon, Mars, and Saturn as significant players in the Equinox chart, we’re moving into a season of being able to generate happiness in unique and creative ways, with invisible helpers everywhere. Just know when to withdraw from people and situations with dignity, and beware of those who do not know how to use power wisely.
Allow all separateness to dissolve in a greater redemptive compassion, use imagination to reclaim an opportunity you thought lost, and surrender the lesser to achieve great spiritual victories. This season launches many things that will acquire solidity fairly quickly, after which things will slow down and we may have to put some things on hold as we develop other things this Summer. This is a season of openings and new beginnings and initiatives, and with Mars, worldly ruler of the Equinox in Capricorn, we get to take command of the process using our maturity, discipline, and organized methods to prepare to embrace a greater fearlessness and ability to deal with “wild” people using harmlessness and a nonviolent approach to all interactions.
Still, as you’re acting with intention, remember that Mercury is slowing down and will go retrograde in the near future, so allow the relatively slow pace to teach you to reflect on what has been to find a new value in what you’ve left behind. Every “dignified withdrawal” in April will yield a vacuum that will be filled with a new sense of self and a new identity by mid-month, and every apparent defeat will spell a true spiritual victory, so don’t be in too much of a hurry over the next 30 days. Certainly the early part of this season will be an entirely different pace than the second half of this season.
See what has ended and what’s beginning. Make your decisions, and act with intention and focus. Then get the information, vision, and/or understanding you need to substantiate these emergent decisions. After you’ve gotten the information you’re looking for, then find your “sacred space” and go there to go as deep as you need to get in touch with your feelings or what you’re experiencing. Once you know what you’re feeling, the next set of actions should be self-evident.
While this is sure to be a highly decisive and active season, after you’ve touched your feelings (some of which have been buried and you may not have known they were even there!), then decide what needs deciding, do what needs doing, and move into a new vision, or new understanding before your next period of feeling what you’re experiencing.
The coming 13 weeks will help us find a new balance or perspective on how to reorganize our energies for most effective application, with new allegiances and vistas calling us to move in new directions, and archetypes and larger processes of creation to be embraced. A life chapter has ended for us all since this time last year, and at least in the first part of this season, look back to see how it prepared us for the renewed opportunities and growth in Soul expression we’ll be growing into over the coming season.
