Neptune goes stationary retrograde at 17 Pisces tomorrow, at 4:27 pm PDT June 18, 12:27 am BST June 19. What does this mean and how will it impact us?
When any of the planets go stationary retrograde, it marks a “forward station” in the pulse of that planet and the part it symbolizes in our personality (lower triad) or Spiritual Body (Upper Triad). The Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, and Mars are mainly associated with our personality, while Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn are mainly associated with our connection with society and our larger aspirations and duties.
The outer “Invisible Quartet,” Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, and TransPluto, show us the Transpersonal realms of existence. (While Uranus is occasionally very faintly observable, for all intents and purposes it’s invisible to most.) Uranus individualizes us, and Neptune helps us move and groove within collective consciousness. Pluto shows us what must be purified to the core so we may know our Divine Power of eternal regeneration, and TransPluto shows us how to redeem growth after decay, and new life after a period of death or dormancy.
Any of these outermost planets going stationary retrograde indicates a threshold state in the Transpersonal energy field. Since we’re dealing here with Neptune going retrograde, and Neptune symbolizes collective consciousness and all it likes, supposes, and wonders about, we now enter a time when the collective atmosphere now reviews parts of what it explored and manifested since it last went direct at 12 Pisces in November 2017.
Neptune represents what is “in fashion” in the collective. Different cultures and subcultures interpret this global pulse in different ways. The Sabian Symbol for 17 Pisces is “An Easter promenade.” In the original notes from the Marc Jones class on the symbols, Rudhyar says this degree is one of “a symbol of ‘high moments’ in life, when (we) challenge (ourselves) and renew (our) faith in circumstances,” and “self improvement.”
In the Astrological Mandala he states this degree is one of “the capacity inherent in all great sociocultural Images to unite the members of a community in a display of excellence.” He goes on to say this is about “the unifying power of great myths and symbols in truly organic and self-perpetuating culture,” with a focus on the “Image of the Resurrection” helping all to show their best Self in a renewal aligned with Nature.
He offers that this degree “emphasizes the value of attuning one’s life activities… to the ritualistic patterns of society or Earth Nature” rather than acting independently. Here “the Collective dominates the Individual, Yin overpowers Yang,” and we are told it’s time to participate in “collective peak experiences.” He states this degree falls in the Span of Protection, Act of Capitalization, and Scene of Perpetuation on the Actional level.
Dr. Jones says this degree is about a “constant expansion of self and experience” in terms of individual self-expression. He speaks of “Implicit in all the ridiculous extremes of man’s vanity and self-exhibition is a realization that each least manifestation of his personal excellencies must be shared widely and generously” so they can develop.
He offers the keyword of CELEBRATION. He states that when this degree works positively, it is “tireless self-refinement in an effective inspiration of others.”
So we now begin to review all we’ve experienced since last November within that vast “feeling field” known as Neptune. This review will last through late November 2018, when Neptune will go stationary direct at 14 Pisces. At that point we will again trace the span between 14-17 Pisces, and will know what we have mastered, as we move into a new collective field of awareness by late March 2019.
Neptune is spending a few years in the second decan of Pisces, so the emphasis is firmly established in the Moon-Jupiter influence of the second decan of Pisces. As Uranus transited the span between 14 Pisces and 17 Pisces several times between May 2006 and February 2008, much of what we can expect during the second half of 2018 will in some way echo or be related to what was awakened in collective consciousness back then.
When any of the outers go retrograde or direct, it shows as major “sea changes” in the global field. Neptune going retrograde will affect that part of our Hologram that interfaces with the collective field. Up to now, we’ve all been “introduced to the Sanctuary” where our minds were opened to a greater Spiritual realm, and subsequent lessons required us to “prove our qualifications” to hold the spiritual energy of our “spiritual office.” That led to lessons in courage, finding appropriate “camouflages” for our public work, and a willingness to “rehearse before the battle,” “subjecting appearances to real necessities.”
These were the themes of 2016, 2017, and early 2018. We’ve been learning and/or teaching these things wherever we have mid-Pisces in our charts, and will now take a new look at themes related to 16 and 17 Pisces, which involve getting away from the routine to get an new inspiration, and participating in forms of collective rebirth.
The tide has turned! If it’s time to sail, well, beware the storms of the non-stop gear grind from the Uranus semisquare Neptune while enjoying the Saturn quintile Neptune, giving us intuitive flashes of how to organize our lives to further our higher purposes. We also have a great stabilizing blessing from Jupiter trine Neptune through early September, boosting emotional intelligence and the ability to “feeling-know” what to eliminate, and how to flow with beneficial magnetism and reject inappropriate desires.
Because of these extraordinarily favorable aspects from Jupiter and Saturn, use the coming months to expunge fear, obsolete desires, and drifting tendencies. We are promised a new understanding and new associations through the end of this year, as long as we are alert to withdraw from old projections we no longer need to carry, or no longer want to see made manifest.
Between now and November, it’s a time to review our need for quiet time to receive inspirations, take a new look at necessities, and examine our “skin of personality” to make sure it’s adequate to the roles we’ll be playing. We are in a time of powerful spiritual growth into our authentic power; be patient, organized, and mature, and you will find you have accomplished many things which will support your renewed efforts in September. These prepare us for what is to come after Mars conjuncts Neptune on its stationary direct degree at 14 Pisces, marking a new Neptunian era.
