On September 2, Venus entered its “shadow zone,” or the zone where it will be retrograde between early October and mid-November. What does this mean?
Like Mercury when it’s in its shadow zone, it means we’re getting the first pass of Venus over the span it will traverse 3 times in the next 3 ½ months. It also means Venus is now beginning to slow down more and more rapidly over the next few weeks before it goes retrograde on October 5 at 11 Scorpio. Use the next few weeks to get your Venusian ruled areas ready for reviews, reversals, and new looks back and/or valuable returns coming during the retrograde.
I’ll write more about the actual Venus retrograde period and what it promises in a couple of weeks when it’s closer to its retrograde station. Until then, remember that Venus in late Libra and early Scorpio will bring echoes of 2010, when Venus went retrograde at 14 Scorpio and direct at 28 Libra. Since then, we had Saturn in the last five degrees of Libra and the first 11 degrees of Scorpio between November 2011 and April 2012, August 2012 through January 2013, and March 2013 through October 2013, so this coming Venus retrograde will bring returns of those lessons as well, though hopefully in a more pleasing Venusian form!
After the Inferior conjunction between Venus and the Sun on October 26 at 4 Scorpio, on October 28 Mercury enters its shadow zone at 28 Scorpio, preparing to go retrograde at 14 Sagittarius on November 16-17. The same day, Venus goes stationary direct at 26 Libra.
So Venus will slow down through the end of October, Mercury will begin to slow down then, Venus will begin to speed up in November as Mercury continues to slow down through its Inferior Conjunction on November 27th the same day as the Sun conjuncts Jupiter! Definitely a swirl of activity, a dance of dervishes that will leave many wondering if the future will look anything like the past. (The short answer is NO. I’ll explain more in future articles.)
So with Venus bouncing between its home sign of Libra and its exile in Scorpio, we’ll be finding new rhythms, new magnetism, new values, new things and people to let go of. Due to the nonstop opposition to Uranus, open to meeting unusual people, get your affairs sufficiently focused so you can get a handle on them, don’t jump to conclusions, and be alert to shifting developments and opportunities. See the big picture, and appreciate the structure you’ll need to embrace to achieve it.
By the time it’s over, we’ll be leading with our feelings, have an entirely new way of seeing the symbols in things and circumstances, and have a whole new feel for how to use soft and hard power in alternating ways. We’ll certainly refine and find new ways to value the lessons Saturn taught us in 2012 and 2013.
