Jupiter retrograde makes its second exact square from 19 Sagittarius to Neptune stationary retrograde at 19 Pisces on Sunday, June 16, at 8:18 am PDT. However, it’s been in play since January, and will continue to be in play for almost 4 months to come!
The Whole Cycle
This is a long wave aspect, and being the upper (waning) square, shows we’ve hit a culmination phase in the Jupiter/Neptune cycle which began at their triple conjunction between May-July 2009 and again in December 2009 at 25 and 27 Aquarius, transforming our ideals since then in the life area(s) where we have late Aquarius in our chart. Those conjunctions began a long cycle of newer, more innovative styles of management, a new ideal in group relationships, and to me kicked off the preliminary tide of the Age of Aquarius which will be very real by the third quarter of this 21st century.
The first square happened in June 2012 from 4 Gemini to 4 Pisces. That marked the point of critical emergence of those energies, brought forward into the signs which followed those conjunctions. Jupiter opposed Neptune from 8 Virgo to 8 Pisces in September 2015. 2019 marks the culmination of the cycle, with three squares this year; the first was in January 2019 from 15 Sagittarius to 15 Pisces, this second square is from 19 Sag to 19 Pisces, and the third will be exact in September when they again square from 17 Sag to 17 Pisces.
As you can see, this energy dominates pretty much the entire year, and as it involves Jupiter and Neptune, it represents the fogs and confusions in the mass consciousness. As Jupiter is also sesquisquare Uranus at this time, there is more than the usual agitation in the air, with confusion and “misfirings” going on. That’s why so much is unclear and sputtering in the public sphere.
Besides Everyone, Who Does This Specifically Affect and For How Long?
Besides pervading the general atmosphere, this friction primarily impacts those with planets in the middle degrees of Gemini, Virgo, Sag, and Pisces, as well as the first few degrees of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius. I explain more about this generic friction in the atmosphere at every New and Full Moon, and Jupiter’s transit merely amps up the energy, bringing things to culmination in the area where we have Jupiter transiting in our chart.
As long as they’re within a span of 2 degrees separating from the exact square, the aspect is still in full force. So even when the aspect is no longer forming (until Jupiter goes direct in September), we’ll still be in the heart of the most intense zone in the larger process. And remember this square will be re-activated by Lunar aspects twice a week, so don’t get too comfortable thinking they’re in our rear view mirror!! Add the inner planet transits in Virgo in September, and we’ll see tremendous movement inward, outward, and in every direction!
Navigating the Fogs and Crosscurrents With Clarity and Precision
Generally, while Jupiter square Neptune can mean a collision of spiritual energies moving at cross purposes, it’s also a point when new ideas, new perspectives, new philosophies, and new broad based spiritual understanding will be made manifest in collective consciousness. This is where Neptune in Pisces’ compassion can come forth in new multifaceted endeavors, as well as where new emergent Jupiterian ideas can cut through the Pisces fogs, deceptions, and lack of clarity.
Because we’re in the heart of the square, and this aspect has been and will be with us for a while, this year tests our ability to keep connected with others and our own sense of direction. If there has been a sense of drifting or not knowing the bigger picture or where things are going on the macro level, realize there are many things about this peculiar period which won’t be clear until after it’s over in October. As I offered you about 3 weeks ago in 2019 – The World Is A Phenomenon,
As Jupiter retrogrades back to a square to Neptune, it seems to be releasing many memories in people. Many reconnections with the distant past are up for review, and some have told me it’s as though they’re in a waking dream state. As life is in fact a dream, if we’re going to navigate it skillfully, it’s good to get some reference points....All dreaming at some point must be followed by action, if the dream is to be made manifest in form. The type of action is up to us, as well as how and when we must do it.... (and) by doing the action we know we set things into motion in major (and often unexpected!) ways.
One of the dilemmas of being human is that usually we cannot know the full implications of the actions we do before the fact, since part of the human condition is to have imperfect knowledge based on perceptions limited by the 5 senses and the mind. So though there are times when we know we must make a "leap of faith" into the future, it's equally important to have prepared the ground the best we could before that critical point in time.
How we prepare the ground has a major influence on what will be grown in the garden. How and what we dream prepares what will be made manifest. This works whether the dream is conscious or subconscious. Where these are not in alignment, there is conflict.
Which brings us back to the present. We all opened to examining or re-examining our “dream of a more perfect future” since the beginning of March when Mercury went stationary retrograde at 30 Pisces. It conjuncted Neptune before then, and again at the end of its retrograde period.
As Jupiter will be squaring those conjunction points for months to come, take a look at how your current “expansive imagination” can be used to release your dreams of a better future. The square will show you if there is conflict within frustrating your dream coming true…. Take a look at anything within which is creating a “drifting” feeling, or the feeling of being needlessly detached in ways where you don’t see opportunities all around you.
Be open to new information, and see the place and function of that information within the greater understanding of how to fulfill a dream you’ve already dreamed. We all opened to a greater Truth and better future that have begun to assemble in our lives. Open to being inspired by flashes of higher awareness giving you visions of greater truths and a better future, as well as opportunities to practice powers you’ll need to be skilled in by the end of 2019.
With Jupiter in Sagittarius, there are many things to grow into, many dances to do, and many possibilities we have not dreamt of before now. Our potential to live a higher "Truth of Being" is limitless, and if we have dreamed something which could become true for us, our vision of the future will be made manifest in forms of personal power in 2020 and new group work by 2021.
So at this penultimate culmination of a long cycle which began for all of us in 2009, throw off any tendency to drift or act in a confused way. If you get lost in the fog, don’t worry, since you’ll find your way out of it at key points during the process. This is testing our inner navigational skills so we can "fly by the seat of our pants" rather than have firm reference points. Inner planets transiting Cancer will quincunx Jupiter and trine Neptune, showing a need to adjust Jupiter’s expression based in the water understanding. Inner planets in Leo will show a time to adjust your Neptunian response based in your Jupiterian understanding.
These “adjustments to achieve harmony and understanding” will then lead us to the transits of the inner planets in Virgo which will will oppose Neptune and square Jupiter. These T-squares will release tremendous energies in Gemini, for good or ill, which is why navigating the recent and future Gemini T-squares are so important in understanding how to integrate the energies as we navigate the larger fog.
Adaptability and discrimination are the keys to success. See different ways to see, understand, and communicate with an eye to the order, the plan, the practical details educating us in a form of action. And use humor, inspired vision, and an abundant view to cut through any drifting tendencies you encounter!
