Which means that Mercury is rapidly slowing, preparing to go retrograde soon! Lots of Cancer and Leo action ahead!
The shadow zone is defined by the span between where a planet goes retrograde, and where it goes direct after the retrograde period. In this case, Mercury goes retrograde at 5 Leo at 4:15 pm PDT on July 7, 12:15 am BST on July 8. It will retrograde back to 24 Cancer, where it goes stationary direct at 8:58 pm PDT on July 31, 4:58 am BST on August 1.
That puts the shadow zone between 24 Cancer and 5 Leo, and around 2:50 pm PDT June 19 Mercury crosses into the degree where it’ll go SD in late July. As it happens exactly in the heart of Mercury and Mars both opposing Pluto on that day, this is a VERY significant entry into the shadow zone! I’ll be writing quite a few articles about the coming retrograde which will post as it comes closer.
There are fortunate tides right now despite the friction of Mercury conjunct Mars opposed Pluto, as we are still in the heart of Saturn sextile Neptune, assisting sane thinking and planning, with “whispers of wisdom” for those who listen to the inner Voice. As Mercury goes SRX in square to Uranus and sesquisquare to both Jupiter and Neptune, it makes an augmented “Hammer of Thor,” since 4 points of a Great Octile are occupied! Expect quite a bit of “cutting, grinding, and polishing” during July and August as the planets all move through early Leo and replicate and stimulate these frictional energies.
We’ll have explosions of creativity and authentic self expression in this retrograde, and we will see what endures underneath all the passing changes. Many things will be seen in a different light by early August, but the reorientation may leave some confused or feeling lost. The last retrograde in March helped us visualize a different future, and let go of old fears, ghosts, and echoes of memories of perceptions of echoes of memories of perceptions of echoes of memories and let a lot flow down the timestream of the movie of your life.
As noted, Mercury will make frictional aspects to Jupiter and Neptune before and after it goes SRX, and of course will make them all again in August. So through all the friction of this retrograde period, see it as Mercury, “the Guide of Souls,” teaching us Cancerian navigational skills to deal with the collective friction of Jupiter square Neptune.
The Mercurial data you notice over the next 2+ weeks will be clarified after the Sun crosses the Mercury SRX degree around July 27-28. For the rest of June and early July, adapt to the slowing pace of things, get all your papers in order, finish what you can in the next two weeks, and prepare to put some things on hold for a little while.
Take a look at what's been set into motion with an eye to building in delays, rehearsals, or more research before things again begin to move forward in early August. The time before Mercury goes retrograde is good for doing what must be done so that other related things can be done later, as well as reconnecting with people and activities from the past that are somehow related to the future.
With Mercury’s retrograde station at 5 Leo, get ready to go inward and see the enduring forms of your life, and how the coming review will give you a different angle on what you need and care about. This is a degree of seeing the need for immediate decisions or actions. Here our shifts in orientation lead us to self-discovery, endurance, and our genius for achieving competency despite problems. I’ll give you more about this degree once Mercury goes SRX in early July.
if you want to know more about Mercury retrograde and how it may operate in Leo and Cancer and affect your chart, please consider getting your copy of A New Look at Mercury Retrograde where you can find out all you need about this retrograde, as well as past and future retrogrades. Here's the Amazon link to where you can order the paperback 2nd edition of A New Look at Mercury Retrograde, and if you want an Kindle ebook copy you can get it there as well, or if you prefer, go to B&N's site and get their copy in Nook.
Enjoy the entrance into late Cancer retrograde energies for 2019, and I’ll post more about the coming Mercury retrograde in late June and early July.
