The Perseids are showering big time this year! Viewers across the United States will have a chance Monday and Tuesday nights, when a dozen meteors per hour and possibly up to 50 or more at its peak are slated to light up the sky after dark. You won't see much before 10 pm, but after that, look up! The "shooting stars" originate in the constellation Perseus, hanging low in the northern/northeastern sky, but it's said you'll get the stars which have the longest, most spectacular-looking tails by looking away from their source. It's fireballs under the moonlight! See you in the heavens.
