On August 15, 2019, Mercury leaves its “Shadow Zone” and moves into the future. As the Sun, Venus, and Mars are already in the third decan of Leo, Mercury is the last planet to transit Cancer and Leo this year. What does this mean?
First, for those who don’t know the term, a planet’s “Shadow Zone” is the span of degrees between the point it goes stationary retrograde back to where it goes stationary direct. When a planet which was retrograde goes direct, it moves across the same span of degrees it did when retrograde. That is the Shadow Zone.
Mercury went SRX at 5 Leo back in early July. It retrograded back into Cancer, going direct at 24 Cancer. It’s now in forward motion and about to leave the boundary of its shadow zone at 5 Leo. As Mercury, “the Guide of Souls” and coordinator of our Life is now speeding up, we can expect all things related to Mercury to speed up as well for the next few weeks.
This year, Mercury’s “batting cleanup,” meaning it is the last to transit the degrees of the season. Mars activated the Leo energy this year, and is an important part of Mercury’s activity this season. Mercury and Mars made their first conjunction at 22 Cancer in June, and a second conjunction when Mercury was on its retrograde station at 5 Leo. This is of major importance, since Mercury now sets that blend of energies at that degree into motion. Expect more experiences related to the theme of 5 Leo to dominate the coming weeks.
Since Mercury is the last to transit late Leo and early Virgo it brings the coordination, information, or understanding to events already experienced in Mars, Sun, and Venus ways. We’ve been experiencing late Leo very intensely in a blend of these three planetary energies. Soon Mercury will move through late Leo, and make the same aspects to the outer planets that the others already have. Mercury may bring us objective understanding of recent events so our ideas can “catch up” with our life, likes, and initiatives.
As Mars enters Virgo August 17-18, it is the first to move into that sector in 2019. The Sun and Venus have followed Mars through Leo and both are giving vitality and quality to what Mars initiated in its transit through Leo. These will yield Leo-related understanding via Mercury from now through when it enters Virgo on August 29. You might say Mercury is chasing the Great Compression occurring in Virgo this year!
Venus and the Sun are quickly catching up to Mars, where Venus will conjunct Mars at 5 Virgo followed by the Sun conjunct Mars at 10 Virgo. At that point Mercury is moving very fast, making its third and final conjunction with Mars at 11 Virgo on September 3. You can see how wherever we have the first half of Virgo will be a VERY crowded house in early September!
I’ll be writing more about that in a couple of weeks, because all of those conjunctions include Mercury’s Superior Conjunction with the Sun the same day as the Sun-Mars conjunction, with many trines to Saturn and T-squares with Jupiter and Neptune at the same time. There will be many dynamic events set into motion wherever we have early Mutable signs in our charts, which will be favorable for those who have trained, are practical and taken care of details, and are willing to do a greater service.
