As the managing editor of the Arizona Society of Astrologers newsletter, I compose an overview of each month. Today we take a look at the primary factors in January 2020.
This year the month of January features Mercury and the Sun making their powerful conjunctions with Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn! Mercury continues at maximum forward motion through January, helping our ability to get many things coordinated, with the Superior Conjunction of Mercury and the Sun only 4 hours before the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse at 21 Capricorn/Cancer. As Uranus is stationary direct at that time, the Eclipse promises that the next few months will feature major endings in those sectors even as new social experiences begin which will lead us all to “a new quality of Being rendering old patterns obsolete.”
This begins the extraordinary compression of all the planets in late Capricorn from January through March 2020, promising us a very crowded house wherever we have Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces in our charts! The January conjunctions of Mercury, Sun, Saturn, and Pluto begin a year of major reorganization in our lives, with new responsibilities to accept and new group work to embrace. This sets the stage for the Grand Mutation of late 2020, ushering in a new 200 year Era!
January emphasizes Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces energies as the Sun, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto all occupy those signs. On January 3, Mars enters Sagittarius, and begins to activate all we became aware of while Jupiter was in Sagittarius. On January 13, Venus becomes the first inner planet this year to move into Pisces and herald what is to come.
We are in a time of receiving rewards for our courage in doing what we had to do over the past two years. This month brings past, present, and future together in a new understanding of how we have trained for more effective social interactions, seeing how to use personal power efficiently to achieve a greater good in life. Saturn continues to put the focus on our emotional and social interactions, while Jupiter begins to crystallize all that Saturn promised in 2018 which came forth as a discipline in 2019.
By the end of the month, Venus in Pisces will put us all at an emergent “fork in the road of destiny” relative to whatever the Capricorn conjunctions have begun to bring. Also in late January, Mars in mid-Sagittarius square Neptune will show us why we had to get clear about our bigger picture in 2019, while Jupiter tredecile Uranus will bring many unexpected serendipity through doors opening as a result of the different perspective on the past we got in 2019. Still, with Sun septile Mars, Mercury sextile Mars, and Venus sextile Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto in late January, it should be a time of maximum productivity for those with planets in the middle degrees of all signs, with great promise of things to come!
Of course, if you’re ever in the Phoenix metro area on the third Saturday of the month, please come on over to Glendale and 57th Ave. to the Astrology Store, since there’s always good fellowship, a free astrology class, and a great presentation by our outstanding guest speaker. Our next meeting is on January 15,, where I and three other professional astrologers will be on a panel giving our take on what’s happening in 2020, so please consider joining us! If you want more info or want to be on our newsletter list, let me know.
