This Full Moon is the seventh since the Solstice conjunction launched a new long term era. We’re headed into the future!
As I offered in previous articles, we had several extraordinarily important long wave conjunctions in January 2020 which were set into motion in March 2020. All the conjunction points made by Sun, Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto in January and March were activated by Mars in March 2020, and its conjunction with Saturn at 1 Aquarius set long wave structures into play which are expanding and currently taking shape.
That “Great Compression” of planets in early 2020 created a very crowded house in a very narrow span of degrees, impacting where we have late Capricorn for many years to come. Add the three conjunctions of Jupiter with Pluto as it transited back and forth over the January and March degree points, and we’ve had a lot of long wave Pluto energies expanded which will show effects over the next decade! If you’re wondering how this Great Compression and those to come will impact us, please check out the linked articles on the bottom of Part 1 of this series published previously.
As the Full Moon fulfills the themes of the previous New Moon, we now can use the purification we’ve begun the past two weeks and see a greater effective harmony. We’ve left elements of the past behind, as well as old ideas and scattered thinking. We’re on a quest for new information which we can express skillfully to open the doors to the future. This one gives us new light on our techniques of acting to align with a larger life trend which shows us the power of old mental and emotional tapes which might hold us back.
Saturn continues to be incredibly powerful as it occupies mid-Aquarius and continues to square Uranus, promising us acceleration in our spiritual evolution. It is now giving structure and substance to the themes of the third 5 degrees of Aquarius, further solidifying the new Aquarian patterns of the coming era. Because it is retrograde, we will see “karmic chickens coming home to roost over the next few months.”
The wave that began last April and was given wings in December will take clearer shape as Saturn sits between 7-14 Aquarius this year. Last year we were “galvanized into action” and “liberated from adverse conditions.” This year Jupiter gave us an expansive view of all of Aquarius between January and mid-May, with a review coming in August and September as we take a third look at the last part of Aquarius before Jupiter races through Pisces in 2022.
The Sun in Water and the Moon in Earth shows a time of the Cardinal Water (initiating personal experience and sensitivity) of Cancer expressing its mobilized self-interest through the Cardinal Earth (initiating practical personal power) of Capricorn. In this chart, 4 planets are in the first third of their signs, 3 planets are in the second third of their signs, and 3 planets are in the last third of their signs. This indicates a slight emphasis on the actional-material field, with a balance between the social/emotional and individual, mental, and spiritual fields.
Why Are Full Moons So Important?
At a Full Moon, that which has opened since the previous New Moon surfaces in a public form, and heads toward the culmination and fruition symbolized by the second half of any cycle. First half, birth into form and field. Second half, culmination and completion of the purpose of that cycle.
That’s why it’s important to regard the New and Full Moon charts as “God’s Footprints in Time,” since one follows the other in an unending sequence of births of newer and newer seeds. The New Moons show us the seeds that will flourish under the reflected light of the Full Moon.
Full Moons heighten feelings, due to the opposition of the Moon and the Sun. We’ve finished many months of no transit to transit oppositions other than those made by the Moon, and began a new run when Mars opposed Pluto. Because we now have three oppositions it means we have three evolutionary “Tension of Opposites” in this Lunation, the first involving 2-6 Cancer and Capricorn, the second involving 26-30 Cancer and Capricorn, and the third 8-14 Leo and Aquarius. The last forms a T-square with Uranus, throwing a powerful void into Scorpio which I’ll discuss in part 3.
Dispositors - What's the Backdrop to the Energies?
The Sun is in Cancer, making the Moon its ruler. The Moon is in Capricorn, making Saturn its ruler. Saturn’s in its home sign of Aquarius, making it the ruler of more than a few planets. As Mercury and Jupiter are also in their home signs, they are their own final dispositors.
So this Full Moon features four “final dispositors” ruling all the other planets. The Sun, Moon, Venus, Mars, Uranus, and Pluto are all ruled by Saturn; Mercury rules itself, Jupiter rules itself, Saturn rules itself, and Neptune, as usual, is a “standalone” planet, ruling itself. That means the rulerships are fairly spread out this month. A final dispositor is a planet in one of its “home signs,” or the signs it rules.
By looking at how “chains of dispositors,” “final dispositors,” and “mutual reception” are in play between the planets, we get a clear picture of the backdrop for how each planet operates. You can find out more about dispositors in general, chains of dispositors, and mutual reception by going to Astrology Class – What Is A Dispositor and What Is Mutual Reception Between Two Planets?
The Sabian Symbols for the Full Moon
This Full Moon falls at 4 Cancer and 4 Capricorn. It is said that the first third (decan) of any sign deals with the actional, material, and physical levels of life, and as the Lunation is in the first decan of those signs, invokes a sub-influence of Cancer and Capricorn.
Since the Moon always focuses the light of the Sun in specific forms, the degree symbols for both are important. The Sun degree is the illumination or enlightenment of the Lunation, whereas the Moon shows us the potential forms that enlightenment will take. Though I’ve given you a sense of what this is about up to now, here’s where we go into detail.
The Solar Sabian symbol for the 4th degree of Cancer is “A cat arguing with a mouse.” In the original notes from the Marc Jones class on the symbols published in The Astrology of Personality,, Rudhyar says this is a degree of “the urge to self-justification through intellectual sophistry or social-ethical considerations” and “a sense of righteousness.”
In The Astrological Mandala he offers that this degree symbolizes "an attempt at self-justification,” where we are confronting the results of an act or decision that radically reoriented our lives. We are told that this involves the multitude of lesser decisions that follow the big shifts in direction, and we he tell us to take note when echoes of desires argue with the voice of our new self. He continues that this symbol is related to cat and mouse arguments, whether within self or with another who is echoing the past.
He states there may be hesitancy and conflicting motives, with the mind “not facing the consequences which follow from desires or even from restlessness. Attempts at rationalization are experienced and should be understood.” He says it falls in the Span of Expansion, and it’s the penultimate (technique) degree in the actional level of the scene of Decision in the Act of Stabilization.
According to Dr. Jones, creator of the Sabian Symbols, this degree is one of our need to establish a mindset or realization “as a preliminary to any entrance into personal experience, and our (our) tendency to enjoy the preparatory more than the consummatory phases of (our) participation in reality.” He states here is “the eternal effort of human nature to get outer acceptance or social sanction for (our) inborn desires, as well as inner or intelligent and practical confirmation for the values it has made its own.”
He offers us the keyword JUSTIFICATION. He states when operating in a positive manner, this degree “is a gift for persuading others to accept the motives of self and to co-operate with its ends.
So the Light of the next two weeks involves noting attempts at self-justification, especially in terms of inner tapes and outer voices trying to persuade us the past is more real than the present. We can see how restlessness is a problem in people and situations, and shine the light of preparation for what is to come after the karmic adjustments in the immediate future.
The Lunar degree symbol for the 4th degree of Capricorn is "A Party entering a large canoe.” In the Astrology of Personality, where Rudhyar uses the original Dr. Jones' class notes on the symbols, it is stated that this degree is "Externalization through individuals of the collective urges of the race,” “Foolish love for pleasure,” and “Exploitation of self.”
We are told in the Astrological Mandala that the keynote is "the ability to use natural resources and basic skills in order to achieve a group-purpose.” He notes that key elements are “the start of a journey” by a “cohesive group of people” related to “a common enterprise which may be an answer to the need for a change of locality,” where a group may reveal “its homogeneity and common will” when it’s away from “its familiar habitat.”
He offers that this is a technique of how to do something in a group context, where “a common feeling-response to a specific situation may be implied.” The emphasis is on “group activity in circumstances implying a need for change.” He says this degree falls in the Span of Illusiveness, Act of Capitalization, and Scene of Crystallization on the technical degree of the Actional level.
Dr. Jones, creator of the Sabian Symbols, tells us here we can find "necessary adjustment of the practical details” in the environment before we commit to some line of activity, and of our need to focus on the present rather than long term ends. He speaks of a “desire for the approval of (others)” before we commit ourselves, and of “our determination to involve them in whatever commands (our) attention.
He offers us the keyword of ORDERING. He says that when operating in a positive manner, this degree is "exceptional capacity for bringing all proper relationships to a point of effectiveness in any given exigency of everyday affairs.”
From these symbols it seems we can see the light of getting ready to express something in the future while taking a last look back through old justifications and express this through a common feeling experience in a process of change helping us shift perspectives through taking care of immediate group involvements rather than long term views.
This is the light of a new actional awareness or technique expressed through claiming power in unfamiliar circumstances. This is personal realignment with a larger social effectiveness. The Sun illuminates our reoriented allegiances, while the Moon expresses and gives form to this through techniques of ordering relations with others to become more effective in meeting social challenges.
TransPluto, Divine Mother, and the Tests of Human Redemption
I’ve included this section for many years to keep you all aware of the workings of Divine Mother on our Earth in this Age in Transition. Rather than simply reprint it each month, I created this material as a separate article unto itself a while back which I’ll be updating very soon. If you want to know more about the vast spiritual field coaxing us toward a great redemption of the promise of Life itself, please take a new look at TransPluto, Divine Mother, and the Spiritual Lessons of 2021. We have now entered a long period of getting over our prejudices and preconceptions, and approaching others from an angle of “the fellowship of humanity.”
*********
At the 2020 World Teacher Full Moon of Sun in Gemini and Moon in Sagittarius I gave you a universal prayer/meditation offered to us by the Tibetan Master D.K. in April 1945 at the end of the war. Tens of millions around the world do this prayer every Full Moon, tuning into the Whole which we ALL are together. I said it every day for many years, and still say it every Full Moon. (It was a real trip to see eyes suddenly open and/or lightbulbs go on over people’s heads when I did it countless times riding the NYC subways when I lived there in the early 80s!)
In 1976 I changed a few words to make it more universal. For your consideration,
The Great Invocation
From the point of Light within the mind of God
Let Light stream forth into the minds of All,
Let Light descend on EarthFrom the point of Love within the heart of God
Let Love stream forth into the hearts of All
May Christ return to EarthFrom the center where the Will of God is known
Let Purpose guide the little Wills of All
The Purpose which the Masters know and serveFrom the center which we call the Human Race
Let the Plan of Love and Light work out
And may it seal the door where evil dwells.Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth.
Again, as I’ve offered you many times before, when you see the title "The Christ" if you are so inclined please substitute "World Teacher," "Bodhisattva," "Imam Madhi," "Krishna," “Kristos,” "Avalokiteshvara," "Maitreya," "Messiah," or any other term used to describe this Great Being. And if you substitute “Enlightened Ones” or “Wise Ones” for “Masters” I doubt it would offend anyone.
See you soon with part 3 covering aspects, planetary sequencing, and other important factors in this Full Moon.
