The International Day of Peace ("Peace Day") is observed around the world each year on 21 September. Established in 1981 by unanimous United Nations resolution, Peace Day provides a globally shared date for all humanity to commit to Peace above all differences and to contribute to building a Culture of Peace.
Here’s the UN site for The International Day of Peace, where we read this year’s theme is “Shaping Peace Together.” From the site,
Each year the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on 21 September. The UN General Assembly has declared this as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, through observing 24 hours of non-violence and cease-fire.This year, it has been clearer than ever that we are not each other’s enemies. Rather, our common enemy is a tireless virus that threatens our health, security and very way of life. COVID-19 has thrown our world into turmoil and forcibly reminded us that what happens in one part of the planet can impact people everywhere.
In March, UN Secretary-General António Guterres called on all warring parties to lay down their weapons and focus on the battle against this unprecedented global pandemic. While the message is intended for armed parties, solidarity and cooperation across borders, sectors and generations are also needed to win this new fight against the worst public health crisis of our time….
The 2020 theme for the International Day of Peace is “Shaping Peace Together.” Celebrate the day by spreading compassion, kindness and hope in the face of the pandemic. Stand together with the UN against attempts to use the virus to promote discrimination or hatred. Join us so that we can shape peace together.

So this year, while we have a political hot war waged by a corrupt government against its people, China threatening war against its neighbors, and the ongoing war between a virus and humanity, please take a moment to feel peace, think peace, and BE peace. There are hundreds of millions of us who do not want war, and have done all we could to bring an end to war. As I recently posted to commemorate the 2022 anniversary of the “Violence Against Women” act, this is a powerful reminder of the promise to come.
I've long held that when we stop all forms of domestic violence, we'll be well on the way to ending war…. I found a 10 minute clip of John Lennon making the case for peace. This is John Lennon at his best, so it bears revisiting. What he said in 1968-69 is still true. The system is on a non-stop campaign to sell us war, and we need to sell peace. Only psychopaths choose war over peace. Our task is non-cooperation with violent thoughts, feelings and actions! We must "sell peace" with the same conviction as those who sell war. Last year I had a 10 great minute clip with "War Is Over" at the back end. This year it's gone, but I found it in two parts. No Fear!
