Save tonight! We begin our musical Saturday celebrating the birthday of one of the great talents of the 21st century, mainly known for one gigantic hit!
Eagle-Eye Lanoo Cherry (born 7 May 1969) is a Swedish musician from a legendary musical family. From Wikipedia, Eagle-eye is “the son of jazz artist Don Cherry and Swedish painter/textile artist Monika Cherry… He is half-brother of singer Neneh Cherry (his mother's daughter) and stepbrother to singer Titiyo. Other half-brothers are violinist Jan Cherry, Christian Cherry, and jazz musician David Ornette Cherry.”
He was a child actor until his progressed Lunar return, when he decided to pursue a musical career, and the rest is history. He created his first album in 1997, which went platinum in the US and ultimately sold 4 million globally! For your enjoyment, a bit of the music of Mister Eagle-Eye Cherry!
First, his mega-hit! Even if you didn’t know the name, you’ll immediately tune into the groove! From the first album Desireless, Here’s the music video for “Save Tonight”
I found three more videos from the same album! Here’s “Falling In Love Again” which we’ll follow with “When Mermaids Cry” and we’ll finish with “Permanent Tears”
From his second album "Living in the Present Future" (2000), a rocker from that album! “Are You Still Having Fun?” Also from that album, this time with his sister Nineh Cherry, here’s the music video of “Long Way Around” We’ll close out the video clips from that album with “Promises Made”
Here are some studio pieces I believe you’ll enjoy!
“Never Let You down” From Desireless, “Worried Eyes,” “Indecision” and one written by his dad “Desireless” From Living in the Present Future, “Burning Up” “Been Here Once Before” and “Lonely Days Miles Away”He sang this one on the 1999 Santana hit album, Supernatural. For your enjoyment, the studio version of “Wishing It Was”
In 2018, he released a new album titled Streets of You. From that album, a live semi-acoustic performance of the infinitely catchy title song! “Streets of You.” Also from that album, a live performance on German TV of another good one! “While Away”
We’ll close with his cover of a Bee Gees classic! Written by Barry Gibb, I’ve always thought this song was one of the more beautiful love songs ever written. For your enjoyment, a unique acoustic arrangement of “To Love Somebody” (yes, it gets very north African psychedelic in the final minutes!)
Our encore is a collection of different videos of THE song! First, an unplugged guitar duet on freshmilk tv! For your enjoyment, “Save Tonight” We’ll follow that with the official live video shot in Germany, which is great! “Save Tonight”
Our third version is live in 2010, with great backing vocals! “Save Tonight” Our final offering comes live from Rio in 2010, and it sure sounds like the crowd is singing ALL the lyrics! “Save Tonight”
Happy and merry solar return and birthday, EELC!
