The Magic of Venus – The Progressed Moon And Evolving Relationships

In my book, The Magic of Venus: Friendships, Soul Mates, and Twin Flames, I devote a chapter to the importance of the Progressed Moon in showing us our emotional states as they progress through our changing life and relationships. Today we’ll take a look at a piece of it.

From Chapter 9, “The Progressed Moon, Saturn Cycles, and Critical Choices in Relationships:”

Because the Moon takes about 27.3 days to orbit the Earth, it shows our progressed Moon will return to its birth position when we are 27+ years old. This is called a progressed Lunar return, which is an extraordinarily important time when we re-set our emotional defaults. We get clear about how we feel about life and our future potential, because we have felt, "up close and personal," all of the sign energies in the zodiac. We have experienced feelings associated with all the signs and houses in our chart, and at 27 have an initial sense of completing one emotional journey as we prepare for the next one lasting through our mid-50s.

During its 27 year journey in our chart the progressed Moon interacts with all our other planets, activating echoes, memories, and past things related to those planets. Over the span of 27 years, the progressed Moon opens us to feel every possible character trait of the signs. As we become aware of our ever-changing feelings, our sense of what we need and how we want to express ourselves evolves, which changes who we attract.

When our progressed Moon conjuncts our other planets, we begin new ways of experiencing and expressing those parts of our personality. When it touches our Sun, we “feel our Light.” When it touches our Venus, we “feel what we like.” When it touches our Jupiter, we “feel a new vision.” We all hit a crucial point in our sense of what we want, as well as what we can’t live with, when our progressed Moon conjuncts our natal Saturn. These are when we get a “feel for our responsibility to ourselves,” because these periods require that we get clear about our duties, obligations, and perceived deficiencies so we can drop what we no longer need. These are times to get rid of whatever makes us feel weighted down, stifled, incompetent or inadequate.

As our progressed Moon dances with our natal Saturn throughout our lives, we get to examine how we feel about the burdens of our life, and change those things which oppress us. All contacts with our Saturn are opportunities to claim our power to throw off our heaviness and embrace the joys of life. Even hard times become blessings which allow us to get clear about what to do to take care of ourselves.

As our needs change, so will our choices in relationship. While healthy relationships will continue and become richer, others disappear and new people show up. Everyone we dance with contributes to our emotional self-awareness and helps us learn what and who we can and cannot live with.
