This coming Full Moon is the thirty-third Full Moon since the December 2020 Solstice conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn at 1 Aquarius which launched new 20 and 200 year eras. This Lunation helps us find a new adventure as we leave the old behind. We’ve now in a Venusian review of the work that has to be done at the dawning of a new day.
I’ll speak more about the bigger picture after the Sabian Symbols. For now, let’s take a closer look at this stabilizing, creative-expressive, visionary and reorganizing Lunation which requires that we think bigger and use our maturity to see what’s relevant, leaving the rest behind. This one brings a new sense of who we are and how to keep the momentum in our own hands as we reach out to a larger existence.
We are still in a time when the old answers cannot confirm the new conditions of existence and the old approaches won’t get the job done. Pluto is giving us a look back at our ability to “read the tea leaves,” seeing omens of the future in objects and patterns as we bridge the Earth and Air in the spiritual field. This is a time to practice “practical compassion,” which requires a specific focus. What’s yours? What is your purpose for doing or not doing something? Show good humor during this time of being called to release and relief.
Because the Full Moon fulfills the themes of the previous New Moon, in this case the recent New Moon at 25 Cancer, we have been offered a blessing of leadership or grace these past two weeks which now lights the way to a transfigured life. This Lunation should bring ease of flow, but also the need to think bigger, not fall into pessimism or narrow interpretations, and “return to simpler joys for pleasure and revitalization.” Use the inspiration and power you've seen since the New Moon to find a spontaneous release of heart to get a new plan.
As this Full Moon has Sun in Leo and Moon in Aquarius, the Light of letting our enthusiasm loose can be expressed through Aquarius’ sense of a greater good. Because Leo/Aquarius is the axis of the archetype of the King/Queen/Orphan, we can see the power of nobility that allows our realm to prosper, with a sense that in the final analysis, we are where the buck stops in our life.
The Sun in Fire and the Moon in Air shows a time of the Fixed Fire (stabilizing inspiration) of Leo expressing its consistent expression of heart energy through the Fixed Air (stabilizing ideas and interrelatedness) of Aquarius. This chart begins a run of Full Moon themes of getting clear on the emotional and social levels of our existence.
At this time, 4 planets are in the first third of their sign, 2 planets are in the second third of their signs, and 4 planets are in the last third of their signs. This indicates a balance between the actional-material levels of life and the individual, mental, and spiritual levels, with less emphasis on the social/emotional field.
Why Are Full Moons So Important?
At a Full Moon, that which has opened since the previous New Moon surfaces in a public form, and heads toward the culmination and fruition symbolized by the second half of any cycle. First half, birth into form and field. Second half, culmination and completion of the purpose of that cycle.
That’s why it’s important to regard the New and Full Moon charts as “God’s Footprints in Time,” since one follows the other in an unending sequence of births of newer and newer seeds. The New Moons show us the seeds that will flourish under the reflected light of the Full Moon.
Full Moons heighten feelings, due to the opposition of the Moon and the Sun. We are now in a time of the year when the inner planets will be making oppositions to the outer planets from now through November. The 3 forming oppositions in this chart involve the Moon opposed the Sun, Mercury opposed Saturn, and Mars widely opposed to Neptune. Those oppositions are this chart’s “Tension of Opposites,” creating an “awareness generator” between 8-12 Leo-Aquarius, 4-8 Virgo-Pisces, and more generally, the last half of Virgo and Pisces.
Dispositors - What's the Backdrop to the Energies?
The Sun is in Leo, making the Sun its worldly ruler. The Moon is in Aquarius, ruled by Saturn. Saturn is ruled by Jupiter in Taurus which is ruled by Venus in Leo, which in turn is ruled by the Sun. That means the “Chain of Dispositors” ruling almost all the planets in this chart is composed of Sun, Moon, Saturn, Jupiter, and Venus. Other than these, Mercury is ruled itself, Mars is ruled by Mercury, Uranus is ruled by Venus, Pluto by Saturn, and as usual, Neptune is a “standalone” planet, ruling itself.
That makes the Sun, Mercury, and Neptune “final dispositors” for all the other planets. By looking at how “chains of dispositors,” “final dispositors,” and “mutual reception” are in play between the planets, we get a clear picture of the backdrop for how each planet operates. You can find out more about dispositors in general, chains of dispositors, and mutual reception by going to Astrology Class – What Is A Dispositor and What Is Mutual Reception Between Two Planets?
The Magic of Venus: Friendships, Soul Mates, and Twin Flames
Venus in Leo as part of the chain of dispositors and a key to how Jupiter and Uranus function through the end of this year and the first few months of 2024. It’s on a degree of “the dawning of a new day of activity,” and releasing powerful Uranian energies due to its square. We’re training, refining, transmuting, and putting on a show of some kind, so remember to keep it light and loving with lots of room to dance with others between now and then. This is a time to remember it’s time to have fun and play a little!
If you want to know more about how to shape your Venus power to attract better friends and relations in the future, please consider getting your copy of my new book The Magic of Venus: Friendships, Soul Mates, and Twin Flames. It is the most comprehensive book on Venus ever written, and explains why we attract who we do and how to create more satisfying relationships in the future. You will understand the foundations of long term healthy relationships and friendships, why Soul Mates come into our lives, and learn how to shape your attractive power to have happy relationships in the future. Even if you’re not looking for a partner, this book will explain why certain people with certain traits came into your life and what they taught you about yourself.
It has chapters on the qualities of each sign’s natural mate, the qualities of Venus in each sign, and when crucial choices and changes are made, affecting who we attract in the future. It was written for both astrologers and lay people, and as it has a thousand gems for better relationships, with self, others, and Source, please consider getting your copy by going to the link above! (And when you’re done, please leave a review on Amazon, since it helps the book and all other books on astrology as well!)
The Sabian Symbols for the Full Moon
This Full Moon falls at 10 Leo and 10 Aquarius. It is said that the first third (decan) of any sign deals with the actional and material levels of life, and as the Lunation is in the first decan of those signs, invokes a sub-influence of Leo and Aquarius.
Since the Moon always focuses the light of the Sun in specific forms, the degree symbols for both are important. The Sun degree is the illumination or enlightenment of the Lunation, whereas the Moon shows us the potential forms that enlightenment will take. Though I’ve given you a sense of what this is about up to now, here’s where we go into detail.
The Solar degree symbol for the 10th degree of Leo is "Early morning dew.” In the original Jones class notes Dane Rudhyar published in The Astrology of Personality, he states this degree is one of “freshness of spontaneous response to life and emotions,” and “uplifting lightness in experience; or else superficial glamor.”
In The Astrological Mandala, he says this degree is “the exalted feeling that rises within the soul of the individual who has successfully passed through the long night which has tested his strength and his faith.” He offers that “the cold air of night” precipitates “the moisture of our deepest feelings” on our consciousness, where we may be “blessed with the light of significance by the rising sun of the new day. Even tears can be transformed into jewels in the light of victory over night and sorrow.”
He goes on to state that this is the “culmination of the process which began on a note of social and cultural crisis,” and that any reformer has to meet many emotional problems” as they do their work. He says “Creation means transformation,” in the sense that any creator is inspired to transform their creation “open to the spirit that ‘makes everything new.’ He finishes with “The building of a new society, and of one’s renewed personality as well, is just as much a process of artistic creation as the making of a delicate glass vase or a symphony,” and gives us the keyword “Transfiguration.” It is said to fall in the Span of Assurance, and is the culminating degree of the social-cultural level in the Scene of Combustion in the Act of Stabilization.
Dr. Jones, creator of the Sabian Symbols, states this degree is about “the eternal refreshment which comes to the individual with every recurrent cycle of (our) experience, and of nature’s continual endorsement of (our) aims or benediction of (our) efforts.” He continues “There are unexpected resources which (we) can find at hand when life otherwise may seem to have defeated (us), and these are often revealed despite (our) lack of expectation.”
He reminds us that “we reap real fruit as we develop a genuine alertness to the unexpected and deny all personal limitation.” He offers us the keyword REJUVENATION, and states that when operating in a positive manner, this degree is “a special talent for finding the better in every situation where a worse may threaten disaster.”
The Lunar degree symbol for the 10th degree of Aquarius is "A Popularity which proves ephemeral.” In the Astrology of Personality, where Rudhyar uses the original Dr. Jones' class notes on the symbols, Rudhyar states this degree is one of “ability to rise above vicissitudes of passing fortune,” “faithfulness to self,” “dependence upon native endowment,” and “projection.”
In his Astrological Mandala, we are told that this degree is one of “the need to deal with human beings as persons rather than as screen upon which one projects one’s dream and ideal.” He goes on to state this degree contrasts the ideal and the reality, the person and the archetype they seem to represent. He states “the star’s popularity fades away, the person remains.”
He continues that this symbol is about “person versus archetype. This can mean a critical need to self-evaluation.” He offers that this is in the Span of Defensiveness, and is the culminating degree on the emotional-cultural level of the Scene of Contribution in the Act of Capitalization.
Dr. Marc Jones says this symbol is one of “the eternal challenge which comes to an individual at every point of climax in (their) experience, and of the swing of the pendulum between an endorsement and a repudiation of (our) efforts by (our) social group.” He offers that we must “accept the applause as encouragement in (our) self-strengthening” even as we search for “continued sustainment from (our) own ability of being.”
He continues that “a courageous self-confidence and an unflagging faith are worthy of recognition, but only in their moment of significance.” He offers us the keyword APPROBATION, and says when this degree is working positively, it’s one of “a gift for bringing the issues of life to a dramatic consummation at a time of crisis.”
From these symbols it seems the next two weeks we’ll see the Light of accepting recognition from others while finding a deeper sustainment from our own “stability of being.” This can be expressed through a “fresh spontaneity” and “lightness of Being.” We should be able to reap rewards through unexpected sources and find rejuvenation by repudiating all needless limitation.
The Moon show we’ll express this as we see how we are or how we did rise above life’s “vicissitudes” while reverting to our “native endowment.” We can find understanding related to what we’ve projected or are projecting on to our world, as well as those we’ve accepted from our world, and in some cases, step back from them, if only temporarily.
We’re in an Era of Overlapping Capricorn and Aquarius Cycles
As you know by now, we had numerous important long wave conjunctions in January 2020 which were set into motion in March 2020, including a 12 year cycle and a 33 year cycle! Sun, Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto all made conjunctions in Capricorn in January and March 2020 which were activated by Mars in March 2020. Mars completed its run at its conjunction with Saturn at 1 Aquarius which also set long wave preliminary Aquarian structures into play which are expanding and currently taking shape.
We’re seeing the competition between the Capricorn and Aquarian cycles play out in the world between the regressives and the progressives, between the forces of control and the forces which resist control, and between the materialists and the idealists. The Capricorn cycles will be in play for many years to come, but by mid-century they will wane while the Aquarian cycles will have become dominant.
That “Great Compression” of planets in early 2020 created a very crowded house in a very narrow span of degrees, impacting where we have late Capricorn for many years to come. Add the three conjunctions of Jupiter with Pluto as it transited back and forth over the January and March degree points, and we’ve had a lot of long wave Pluto energies expanded which will show effects over the next decade! If you’re wondering how this Great Compression and those to come will impact us, please check out the linked articles on the bottom of Part 1 of this series published last week.
TransPluto, Divine Mother, and the Tests of Human Redemption
I’ve included this section for many years to keep you all aware of the workings of Divine Mother on our Earth in this Age in Transition. Rather than simply reprint it each month, I created this material as a separate article unto itself a while back. If you want to know more about the vast spiritual field coaxing us toward a great redemption of the promise of Life itself, please take a new look at TransPluto, Divine Mother, and the Spiritual Lessons of 2023. We have now returned to a time where we redeem much through shedding our preconceptions and furthering fellowship regardless of the differences and distinctions.
*********
At the 2020 World Teacher Full Moon of Sun in Gemini and Moon in Sagittarius I gave you a universal prayer/meditation offered to us by the Tibetan Master D.K. in April 1945 at the end of the war. Tens of millions around the world do this prayer every Full Moon, tuning into the Whole which we ALL are together. I said it every day for many years, and still say it every Full Moon. (It was a real trip to see eyes suddenly open and/or lightbulbs go on over people’s heads when I did it countless times riding the NYC subways when I lived there in the early 80s!)
In 1976 I changed a few words to make it more universal. For your consideration,
The Great Invocation
From the point of Light within the mind of God
Let Light stream forth into the minds of All,
Let Light descend on EarthFrom the point of Love within the heart of God
Let Love stream forth into the hearts of All
May Christ return to EarthFrom the center where the Will of God is known
Let Purpose guide the little Wills of All
The Purpose which the Masters know and serveFrom the center which we call the Human Race
Let the Plan of Love and Light work out
And may it seal the door where evil dwells.Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth.
Again, as I’ve offered you many times before, when you see the title "The Christ" if you are so inclined please substitute "World Teacher," "Bodhisattva," "Imam Madhi," "Krishna," “Kristos,” "Avalokiteshvara," "Maitreya," "Messiah," or any other term used to describe this Great Being. And if you substitute “Enlightened Ones” or “Wise Ones” for “Masters” I doubt it would offend anyone.
See you soon with part 3 covering aspects, planetary sequencing, and other important factors in this Full Moon.
