The legendary Tommy Smothers (February 2, 1937 – December 26, 2023) just checked out. With his brother Dickie, the pair blew the tv censors' minds making jokes about presidential policies, civil rights, protest marches, sex, drugs, rock and roll, and the Vietnam War while hosting some of the most awesome musical talent in history: George Harrison, Ringo Starr, Buffalo Springfield, The Who, Jefferson Airplane, The Doors, Cass Elliot, Cream, Donovan, Glen Campbell, Joan Baez, Janis Ian, Peter, Paul and Mary, Spanky and Our Gang, Steppenwolf, Simon and Garfunkel, The Hollies, and even Pete Seeger, who had been banned from US tv since the 50s when he was blacklisted. RIP Aquarian comedian who the system took way too seriously. For your remembrance, one of the wilder performances! The Who do "My Generation" on the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour
