For my Astrology Arizona presentation each year, I offer predictions from many sources around the world. This year I didn’t have time to compose something for each sign, but I did pull together some of the astrological primary themes in the year to come.
I’ll compose something for each sign in the near future, but for now, here are my notes from my recent presentation.
If last year’s themes involved finding new answers and new approaches while building some sort of bridge between past and future, this year is about us crossing that bridge and entering into a new land and life. 2024 is about giving up the lesser to attain the greater, with tremendous rewards the first half of the year and equally tremendous openings in the second half.
We dance between past and future as Pluto gets to 3 Aquarius before retrograding back to 30 Capricorn. That indicates there will be a mass “desocialization” tide set into motion by April, and the rest of the year will show many “refusing orders,” or turning away from social patterns which they feel are dictating what they can no longer bear. Expect a lot of rebellion beginning in April which will last through the year.
2024 is very strange, with Neptune giving us one last look at “the end of the end” of mass confusion and delusion this year and Saturn moving through the middle of Pisces, making tough aspects with Jupiter and Pluto off and on for the entire year.
We’ll all get a new boost in our emerging Aquarian function beginning in February, and in late April Jupiter conjunct Uranus promises a new 12 year adventure wherever we have 23 Taurus in our chart! However, late March begins a long wave Saturn semisquare Pluto which lasts through February 2025. This is the first point of “emergent crisis” in the cycle which began at their conjunction in January 2020, so expect a lot of fear and coercion as well as self-serving deceptions to be in play for those months.
During that almost year-long semisquare, we also see Jupiter squaring Saturn from late July through late September, and Jupiter sesquisquare Pluto between late July and late August. This indicates August is going to be heated up! Clearly that period will feature a lot of conflicting energies, with Jupiter in Gemini being a scattering influence throwing conflict into the charts of nations and people with planets near 1-5 Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius, 16-20 Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces, and 29-30 Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn.
Significant conjunction cycles happen at 1 Aquarius when Mercury, Venus, and Mars all conjunct Pluto in February. Mars conjuncts Saturn at 15 Pisces in mid-April, conjuncts Neptune at 29 Pisces in late April, conjuncts Uranus at 27 Taurus in mid-July, and conjuncts Jupiter at 17 Gemini in mid-August. As mentioned, Jupiter conjuncts Uranus at 23 Taurus in late April. All of these conjunctions show the focus for many months to come wherever they fall in our chart.
Just after Jupiter conjuncts Uranus in late April it enters Gemini and in late May makes a trine to Pluto in Aquarius. This is the first major aspect from an outer planet to Pluto in its new Air sign home. It should begin to provide inspiration of a deep and profound yet very wide and vast scope. Pluto brings seed ideas. A trine from Jupiter opens a wide variety of potential ways of those seed ideas to express in the world.
Any idea you find at that time will prove very inspiring and give a pathway to a broader set of ideals. The period in late May and early June will be very favorable for any planets we have in the early degrees of the Fire and Air signs, as well as any we have near mid-Scorpio, mid-Pisces, mid-Aries, and mid-Leo.
There will continue to be “challenges from Nature” because of Pluto’s long stays at 2 Aquarius, which was Saturn’s stationary retrograde degree in 2020 when covid ravaged the world. It is a degree of “spectacular events which galvanize us to action” due to a “cosmic visitation.” We can only hope that our friends from outer space choose to help us do a collective intervention at some point!
With the aspects between the outer planets, expect arguments, deceptions, delusions, and stubborn clinging to old values and ways of using wealth. Still, there will be a lot of clarity for all who are seeking to find a new way to live.
Jupiter in Gemini should accompany an explosion of ideas along with a reversal of book bans, since Jupiter wants freedom and Gemini is about exploring ideas. So we should see new approaches, new theories, new angles of understanding, and alternative views of some intractable issues.
Remember that Uranus was in Taurus 1935-1942 which accompanied the rise of nationalism, fascism, and militarism. This has also been the case since Uranus entered Taurus in 2018. Then as now, the forces of individual freedom ran up against book burning, anti-Semitism, and a lot of war threats between nations with invasions and urgent mobilizations.
Last year Saturn began at 23 Aquarius, moved into Pisces in March, and got to 8 Pisces in June when it went stationary retrograde. Its shadow zone was between 1 and 8 Pisces, which we reviewed during Saturn’s retrograde phase between June and November, and now has been an operational understanding during this third transit while direct between November 2023 and mid-February 2024.
It will continue forward to 20 Pisces and then in late June will retrograde, going back to 13 Pisces where it goes stationary direct in November. So beginning in the Summer of 2023 we heard a call to renewal, then found ourselves at a new “marketplace of life” by November 2023. Once Saturn hits 11 Pisces at the end of February, we’ll begin to move through the second decan of Pisces, with its Cancer sub-influence with an added dose of Jupiter.
So in 2024 we take our Saturn renewal into forms of mastery and get ready to enter the metaphoric “Hall of Initiates” where we must allow our Soul a greater influence over our personality and our work. We move through a new understanding of our individual spiritual Self and why we may need a camouflage from time to time.
In mid-April Saturn enters the last half of Pisces and begins to draw close to Neptune. In May and June, find a new inspiration, a social renewal, a public presentation of spiritual conscience, and perhaps revise some ideas as a result of “walking with your Wisdom.”
In June we hit a threshold of being assured what we need either to a) complete our labors or b) as a reward for completing our labors. Through that lens of “nourished wisdom” we then review all we’ve learned since the Spring Equinox between July and November 2024 to come to a courageous wisdom and focused will power.
Finally, in a portent of things to come, "they" say all politics is local. I found something that puts the lie to those who whine about high taxes being a threat to our economy. We can only hope this is a symptom of Pluto in Aquarius?
Massachusetts recently put a surtax of 4% on income over a million. None of the rich suffered, while the kids are now getting free lunches, public transportation is improved, bridges and roads are being repaired, and community college is free. Every state should do this.
