As with yesterday’s article, this continues our celebration of a major milestone in a work spanning two decades. Literally millions have used the material on this site to further their understanding of Astrology, so today we’ll take a look at some of what this site has offered and continues to offer to students of Astrology and higher Truths. It’s time to take a look at the library of the Aquarian School of Astrology!
In the 1970s and early 80s I taught hundreds of classes in my Aquarian School of Astrology sponsored in conjunction with my non-profit, tax-exempt Fifth Ray Foundation, created when one of my students made a donation so I could provide books for my classes at discounted rates for other students in the future. Fast forward to the world of the internet, and after countless questions and requests for my talks and classes to be accessible to the public, I created The Aquarius Papers at 12:10 pm, April 28, 2004 in Westwood (UCLA), CA. I envisioned it as a Starship, a vehicle to explore all there is to explore in the world of Astrology and metaphysics, as well as the truths in each and all spiritual Paths
The thousands of articles comprising the library with all the classes I've offered on this site over the years belong to the Fifth Ray Foundation, which also publishes all my books. I've set it up so that with any public support at all it should be able to maintain the site and the library long after I'm gone so future 21st century astrologers will have the benefit of my archives and lessons.
Every library needs a filing system, but because I had written hundreds of articles which dropped off the main page early in this Starship voyage and I was already over 4 million page views, there was no way to reconstruct a topic-specific filing system on the sidebar. So instead, when I jumped to this typepad platform in 2005 I had a friend install a “site google” box so people could find whatever they needed to find. Type in any search term and it will search all the published articles for that word or phrase.
Because many hundreds of thousands from over 130 countries have visited the site via various search engines and links to my site on other websites, I figured that once someone finds my site, it would be better to have a way to search my archives to find specific articles on specific topics. So it’s a fairly user friendly way to find any subject in one or more of the thousands of articles in the archives.
Along the way I found that many of my visitors bookmark my web address, go to it every day, and if something calls to them, they copy it for study later on. That’s fine by me, since it’s all given to all for all time, or at least as long as there is an internet. Out of consideration for my readers I have never taken advertising. I may be the only site of my size which is ad free. It’s been a totally free site from the beginning, and a labor of love which has attracted donations along the way. I am grateful for every single person who has supported the Starship in any way.
While occasionally some of my work was plagiarized years ago, my loyal readers always let me know so the thieves could be busted. Some just deleted it as soon as I contacted them, while others apologized for not knowing the submission was my work and not the thief’s. I figure anyone can use my work as long as they give proper attribution. That seems the least they could do. And the good thing is because the language I use is very topic specific and I have developed my unique writing style and phrasing over the years, it’s easy to identify as my work rather than someone else’s.
We now take a brief tour through the subject matter available in the library.
Planets and Signs
To me, Astrology is composed of 4 basic building blocks, and all else is commentary. We have planets, signs, houses, and aspects. Over the years I’ve offered articles on every facet of these and more, some topic specific and some illustrating how they work in various contexts involving natal, progressed, and/or transiting factors. There are hundreds of classes exploring specific astrological subjects, both unique as well as recurring.
While there aren’t many “cookbook” articles about the planets, I discuss them and how they work in more articles than I can count. Of course, I’ve written entire books about Mercury, Venus and Saturn which offer much more than I ever could in one or even 20 articles. I have countless articles about Mercury, both direct and retrograde, and mark Venus’ ingress in each sign along with Mars, Jupiter, and the rest out to Pluto.
In each planetary ingress article I offer insights into how the planetary “Light” operates through the sign “filter” to give explorers a sense of how each planet evolves as it transits between the signs. I also have extensive articles about Chiron and TransPluto, important forces in our collective spiritual evolution.
One of the special features of this site is the ongoing evaluation of Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto, and how they work together as a unified field of spiritual energies outside the realm of human manipulation and speculation. Those who want to know how these work to awaken mass movements, dissolve old mass ideas, or put us all through purifying rituals will find many articles explaining how the larger spiritual field changes work, as well as why it works the way it does. The spiritual field has evolved these past decades and centuries, and what’s to come between now and the 22nd century can be known through the articles explaining how these three have worked together to bring us to the threshold of the Age of Aquarius.
I’ve also offered articles about how the outer spiritual planets, Jupiter through Pluto, set various tides and “sea changes” into motion as a result of their stations, as well as how they’ve operated over the years in different signs relative to each other and the larger spiritual field they represent as a totality. If you want to know anything about the sign placements and aspect relationships between the outer planets, there are hundreds of articles covering those topics and many others going back over a decade or more.
In August 2008 I began writing about Solar and Lunar eclipses, and then in February 2011 I began to do extensive articles on the New Moons and Full Moons as well. That was when I began to offer the Jones Pattern interpretations to readers. Each month I found myself expanding the quantity and quality of each Lunation article, eventually writing dozens of pages about each Lunation as they progressed through the signs and how each sign stands in relationship to the other signs.
All the Lunation articles in my archives, as well as the articles on the Solar and Lunar eclipses, cover Sabian symbols, Jones patterns, special evolutionary configurations, spiritual aspects in play, dispositors, element distribution and much more. Besides these topics, the eclipse articles also include just about everything anyone could want to know, including their magnitude, duration, penumbral/umbral periods, which countries are in the eclipse path, and which signs are most affected.
There are many years of articles on every Equinox and Solstice since 2010 which outlined the main themes of the season to come. Over the years many have studied the material related to the Galactic Center and various transits to that sector of space. That period 14-15 years ago was one of powerful friction between the outer planets with Cosmic Crosses in play which transformed our world.
Moving on to the signs, there are numerous articles which discuss how the signs relate to each other within the Whole Cycle, and which parts of which signs have specific meaning, both by ancient and modern decan and rulerships. There are classes in how the signs relate to each other in harmonious and frictional ways, and how to use sign energies productively during special configurations.
Every month I do a piece on the special qualities of the sign associated with that month, with lists of famous people and events associated with that sign. As noted, I also offer my take on each planet’s occupancy of each sign as they enter that sign. If someone wants to know about a planet in a sign, I have many articles on it.
If you dive deep enough, you’ll understand how each sector of the 12 fold reality relate to each other in specific ways beyond the usual “cookbook” astrology. I have extensive commentary about how various parts of signs relate to other parts of other signs, like how the middle decan of certain signs are related to “Critical degrees” and how certain sectors share partially identical rulerships with other sectors. There is a wealth of information in all the Lunation articles about the various signs and how they express based in which planets are in those signs.
An outstanding feature of the site is that I have done extensive interpretations of the appropriate Sabian symbols for every lunation, every planetary station, and every major conjunction, as well as important points of shift at various periods of the year. My hundreds of analyses include 1) the version of the symbols Dane Rudhyar published in The Astrology of Personality where he used Marc Edmund Jones’ original class notes, 2) his reinterpretation of the Symbols as he offered in An Astrological Mandala, and 3) the original Symbols as Marc E. Jones published them in his hardback volume The Sabian Symbols in Astrology. There are examples of how to apply them in the context of planetary positions and aspects to assist those who are interested into a deeper relationship with the world of archetypes, symbols, and how to interpret these in specific situations.
Houses and Aspects
I suppose the Houses have gotten least attention these past 20 years, while aspects have gotten a major focus. Most of what is discussed about the houses is defined by the subject matter of the articles and where they may be occurring in the chart. Analyzing specific events, like when the Beatles came to town and other notable events, allows me to offer commentary about the rulers of the houses in relationship to all the other rulers. Because houses and planets in houses are site specific, i.e. determined entirely by where we are or where an event happens as a time/space marker, I usually answer specific questions about house positions, transits, and events as brief examples or answered in the comment streams.
There are references to "derivative houses" sprinkled throughout many articles explaining the relationship of a given house to another house. I have referred readers to valuable texts about possible house meanings. A lot can be learned about the houses by consulting how each Mercury retrograde works for all signs and birthdays via the Solar equal house positions, which is an article unto itself with some pieces from my award winning book A New Look At Mercury Retrograde.. The information in the article can be used for natal Mercury retrograde house transits. Of course I speak of the nature of planets in houses in all of my books.
The aspects have been my primary area of exploration and expertise across my entire 50+ year career. They are one reason I call Astrology “5 dimensional trigonometry,” as aspects are phase relationships showing the relationships of every point to every other point within “the Whole Cycle.” Each planet makes countless Whole Cycle relationships with every other planet throughout time, each time with a unique theme within the whole of the evolving process.
There are countless articles about the various harmonic aspect series, explaining the difference between a trine and a sextile, a quintile and a septile, a tredecile and a quincunx. Each harmonic series has been explored in depth across many articles, and I’ve offered groundbreaking glyphs and interpretations for the Septile, Novile, and Elftile harmonic series. Each of these series involves spiritual growth of different types, and show us when destiny is at work, revelations are due to come forth, and when we have to make leaps of faith to overcome a duality.
The aspects show us whether something is beginning or ending, at a turning point or a culmination, or in union and harmony or polarized in its function. They show what lesson to learn, and how to use forces to best effect. They represent the dynamics of the interactive process as it evolves across time and experience. I believe the study of the various interlocking Synodic cycles of the planets is a branch of Astrology unto itself, in the same pantheon as the 7 traditional schools of Astrology and the 2 modern ones.
In the classes pertaining to natal astrology, there are many articles which explain elements of natal and progressed analysis as well as how the transits impact the natal and progressed positions. There are articles with valuable medical astrological information such as how the planets and signs relate to our body’s organs, the importance of cell salts, how various ailments are related, and more (though a lot of what I wrote was answering questions in comment streams years ago.)
Though I’ve given classes on zoom on the fundamentals of Horary and Electional astrology, there aren't many articles on them or Meteorological astrology or Agricultural astrology. Most of what I’ve written about Mundane astrology has been published in a Mundane Astrology facebook group. With all these traditional branches, there are many other resources which are available, and so I limit myself to commentary on questions rather than simply write what so many others have written.
I believe the outstanding feature of this library of my Aquarian School of Astrology is that it offers a wealth of information about Humanistic Astrology and Spiritual Astrology, i.e., how to approach the chart in terms of Soul evolution and how to integrate the personality so we can become agents of Soul expression. With my background in counseling psychology, I realized that Astrology is a fantastic tool for us to understand each of our planetary “departments of labor,” and how to turn a dysfunctional part of us to more productive and harmonious ends. That’s why readers will find countless techniques to assist in personality integration to become their highest Self in worldly expression.
Besides these things, there are hundreds of articles on spiritual topics, from the obvious to the profound, from how we all got here and what life on Earth is about to the sources of suffering and how to overcome them. As we shift our planetary instincts from dysfunctional to more spiritually satisfying expressions, we find we have become the heart and voice of “the corrective force of Nature Herself” and are cooperating in the larger evolutionary field.
So welcome to the largest free interactive astrological school library on Earth! This site has welcomed all visitors, answered all questions, and demonstrated again for all the world to see that sometimes the phrase “TANSTAAFL” is false. All we have to do is show up for the feast!
