Venus makes its “Superior Conjunction” with the Sun on June 4 at 15 Gemini. This fusion of “likes” and Life will help us to a more open-minded view of our pursuit of knowledge or truth as we share new views and they are shared with us. This completes the Gemini sector of Discovery, and sets a platform for future experiences related to “the Light of what we Like,” or the “Light of ideal attractions.” We now get to re-image future attractions in the sector of our charts where we have 15 Gemini.
Be open to new ways of appreciating and/or valuing different schools of thought, different approaches to learning, and all that can be discovered through action, feeling, and mental inquiry. Venus conjunct the Sun should bring more pleasing relationships and life experiences related to the house in which it falls. Be open to new types of Venusian and Solar Beings.
This merging of Venus with the Sun symbolizes a point where the spiritual mind awakens and seeks to merge with the heart and find new ways to interact with others to share spiritual knowledge. In Esoteric Science Venus rules the Throat chakra, associated with Spiritual Knowledge of the Way, whereas the Sun rules the Heart chakra, associated with the Love of the Way. Both are constantly exercised as we move from ignorance to knowledge, and from conditional love to Unconditional Love.
How Is This Superior Conjunction Similar and Different From Others?
Whether retrograde or direct, when Venus conjuncts the Sun, we have an illumination of our relationship to Wisdom and Folly through the fusion of Life with Likes. This is a fusion of Venus with the Great Light, with the direct conjunction a point when the planet fuses its qualities with Life and then moves forward in front of the Sun as “heralds of the new day.” Then when the planet gets to its maximum distance from the Sun, it begins to slow until it goes retrograde, after which it makes the Inferior Conjunction with the Sun. That also is a fusion, but because of the retrograde quality, it is backward looking, or inward looking, or echoing the past in some way.
Because Venus is now moving faster than the Sun, it is racing ahead of the Sun. Up to now, “Likes” have been chasing “Life,” and at the conjunction Light illuminates Relatedness. At this point, Venus (our vanities and what beauty we want to capture and hold) now races ahead of the Sun, promising the external manifestation of what we have “imaged forth as desirable” up to now. Venus now explores areas of the zodiac not yet covered by the Sun or Mercury, so has a “heralding” function as described earlier until June 17 when Mercury and Venus conjunct at 1 Cancer.
As usual, a chart done for the exact Superior Conjunction should show us elements of things related to this “Venus fused with the Sun” energy. This will impact the months to come between now and the next Venus Inferior Conjunction with the Sun at 3 Aries on March 22, 2025. That will impact the following period until the next Venus Superior Conjunction with the Sun at 17 Capricorn on January 6, 2026.
Aspects and Key Factors in Play at this Conjunction
The main inner planet aspects at play for this Venus conjunction with the Sun (forming and partile separating aspects only) are the conjunction square Saturn, sesquisquare Pluto, and septile Chiron. The squares and sesquisquares show a need for “right action” when it comes to ambiguity in relationships or duties, as well as the turning of a corner where we must compare our Wisdom with other Wisdom in a spirit of open discovery. This will bring some major changes in our relationships, knowledge, and likes, as we have three points of a Great Octile “8 Pointed Star of the Need for Right Action” which most impacts people with planets around 1-4 Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius, 13-19 Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces, and 28-30 Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn.
The septile to Chiron indicates that we shall encounter some “fateful” relationships over the next 9 months which will help us carry something through to completion. Affected areas include 21-25 Aries, 13-17 Gemini, 4-8 Leo, 26-30 Virgo, 17-21 Scorpio, 8-12 Capricorn, and 29 Aquarius-3 Pisces. I’ll publish more about the major aspects in play in the coming New Moon articles later this week.
The ruler of the conjunction, Mercury, is at 3 Gemini and conjunct Jupiter with both trine Pluto. Mercury is VERY powerful in its home sign, and brings an acute focus, clarity, and vision of both scope and depth. This opens up powerful harmony in the first 5 degrees of the Fire and Air signs in our chart, so stay open to meeting others and be willing to share information in a spirit of open-minded fellowship. From one point of view, we’re ALL students here!
This conjunction holds the promise of great discoveries and new understanding of established ideas and concepts. This will be a highly interactive influence, so be willing to get out a bit and mingle. This will give us a new appreciation of or value for all things related to mid-Gemini in our lives, and especially the life areas where the conjunction falls in our charts.
The Sabian Symbol for the Superior Conjunction
The symbol for the 15th degree of Gemini is “Two Dutch children talking.” In the Astrology of Personality, where Rudhyar uses the original Dr. Jones' class notes on the symbols, we are told this is a degree of "conscious approach to spiritual truth and underlying meanings,” “open-mindedness,” and “clarity of thought along traditional lines.”
We are told in The Astrological Mandala that this symbolizes "the need to clarify one’s experiences through actual contacts with like-minded individuals.” He offers that all “transcendent experiences and supernormal faculties must be tested and clarified through the use of normal and collectively tested means of communication,” and the “Dutch children” may symbolized “neatness and the open spirit of discussion which has prevailed in Holland.”
He continues that children represent fresh experiences which “require certification; this demands a ‘clean’ and open mind eager to test what is experienced in an exchange of views with one’s peers.” He notes this closes the scene of “Discovery,” and offers that “all discoveries must be checked and their validity tested…. The need for objectivity must be met” and this requires “the confirmation of any subjective realization by some similar experience.” It falls in the Span of Zeal, Act of Differentiation, and is the culminating degree in the Scene of Discovery on the Individual-Mental level.
Dr. Jones says this is a degree of "the creative interest … in the broad range of potentialities on which (we) may draw.” He says “rehearsal of experience… becomes vicarious and a matter of childlike or unconditioned familiarity” as we contribute to what we know, “thus facilitating a more effective grasp of life on every practical or everyday level.
He states “All relationships are reduced to common elements of background and skills.” He offers the keyword CLARIFICATION, and says when operating in a positive manner the degree is “a self-confidence of spirit by which (we are) able to establish (ourselves) advantageously at ease in any possible situation.”
From this degree we can see the theme of this conjunction shows the Light of individual-mental discovery and allowing ourselves to find new information and new ways of expressing it. As this is Venus conjuncting the Sun, we can find newer more pleasing styles of self expression and relating to others. Here we can appreciate the human component in all knowledge and understanding, and open to “a more effective grasp of life” as we test and compare our knowledge with others. Look for the beauty or value from many different points of view. You could find yourself knowing on subtle levels like never before!
So we'll be using our fusion of Life and Likes, Light and Appreciation functions to send and/or receive information related to past, present, or future knowledge as a prelude to externalizing that knowledge. We’re in a year of Discovery, and you can bet that whatever is put into motion by this conjunction will explode into boundless possibilities when Jupiter crosses 15 Gemini in late July and early August, again when retrograde December 17-24, and again when direct in late March 2025.
It should be a great time to value things we didn’t before, or perhaps find a new beauty in a person, place, or thing. Here we can experience what we want in enlightened relationships, or find a new way to embrace enlightened relationships in the future. We may meet someone who embodies our ideal of enlightened relationship, or renews an old long held ideal in relationship.
In Conclusion
All conjunctions represent a time when old cycles end and new ones begin. We now leave the past behind, knowing the quickening we’ve had since the last Venus Inferior conjunction while retrograde has brought us to this point of “shared knowledge” from which we launch into a new era of “enlightened likes.” This will help us move forward toward greater knowledge and relationships with those who share that knowledge. Now we get to admire and value new Venusian experiences which will broaden our knowledge considerably.
There will be a fusion in the house where we have 15 Gemini. This puts the focus on that house in our chart, and over time we’ll see new relationships, new values, new aesthetics, and a new sense of perspective about relationships opening in that area. We now move into a time of new relationships which will broaden our perspective and introduce us to new ways of understanding things. This can give more information about some ideal we have which we like or values, and why we like and value that.
As I offered yesterday, since beauty is in the eye of the beholder, we each get to admire what we believe is beautiful, in action, feeling or thought in our lives. We get to choose the beauty and wisdom we want to live! At this time of Venus conjuncting the Sun, search for the beauty outside you and see how you can express the beauty within. And if things haven’t been so beautiful in the past, you can always choose a more “enlightened view of what’s beautiful” by dancing with your inner Venus to see what could be more pleasing with an ability to attract that in your life.
That’s one of the things you will find in my newest book, The Magic of Venus: Friendships, Soul Mates, and Twin Flames. We all attract what we’ve learned to attract, and can easily learn to attract people and circumstances which are a lot more pleasing than some we’ve had in the past. In the book I explain how we can consciously shape our attractions, and by releasing old patterns of what we used to want, we can quickly move into a more pleasing life with values and relationships which show us the beauty we seek.
At this time of “Illuminated Beauty,” remember that Venus’ beauty entirely depends on her higher virtue of Wisdom and Divine Knowledge, as per Her rulership of the Throat Chakra. The Magic of Venus: Friendships, Soul Mates, and Twin Flames will give you a thousand gems of Venusian wisdom, as it is the most comprehensive book ever written about the many ways our inner Venus shapes all of our relationships throughout life. I have synthesized astrology, psychology, and spirituality in ways that offers readers insights about the purpose of past and present relationships, and how to create better ones in the future. It is both a manual for improving who we attract as well as an astrological reference book.
The first part of the book explains why we like what we like and key factors in healthy relationships. It explores why we attract certain types of people until we change our focus to attract people who will like and love us, how to know if someone is right for us, and how our family and culture influences our likes when we’ve young.
In the section about “the Lover” we take a look at the six Divine archetypes available to us in our chart, and explore what a healthy Lover looks like. This book opens the doors to understanding how to attract the best people for us, whether friends, romantic partners, or our ideal mate. It’s both an astrology book and a work with wisdom gleaned from a lifetime of relationships and exploring the essentials of healthy relationships.
The second part of the book has chapters on Venus in each sign, as well as the qualities of each sign’s archetypal mate, as well as Venus retrograde, important astrological factors in compatibility, marriage charts, and the timing on who we meet and what that means, and affirmations for each Sun/Venus combination for centering the focus on attracting more perfect life relationships.
The book was written for both astrologers and non-astrologers. Even those with little or no understanding of astrology will benefit from what’s offered. I have no doubt it will open the door to your imagination and ability to find perfect friendships, make the most of the Soul Mates you’ve met or will meet, and help you understand your mythic hero’s journey in the realm of relationships. It is a book with countless gems for your consideration, and if you want to see how to enjoy life in a more fulfilling way,
I believe a special feature of The Magic of Venus: Friendships, Soul Mates, and Twin Flames is the chapter explaining the difference between Soul Mates and Twin Flames. While we have many Soul Mates, we have only one “Twin Flame,” or “Divine Other.” Soul Mates help us bring forth our Soul and the greater love we ARE. That’s why some of them break our hearts, but always point the way to more fulfilling, loving, and wise relationships in the future. When you read the chapter, you’ll understand that all your difficult relationships in the past brought forth your heart and Soul, and you’re now a wiser person with better relationships ahead.
