Mars is now activating the April Jupiter conjunct Uranus at 22 Taurus themes, and is on the way to beginning another Mars/Uranus cycle at 27 Taurus in a few days. Today we take a look at Mars cycles with the outer planets.
As you know, Mars takes about 2 years to transit all the signs. During each cycle it conjuncts the outer planets, setting many larger spiritual cycles into motion. Mars/Pluto conjunctions set cycles of collective purification and elimination into motion; Mars/Neptune conjunctions set cycles of collective “fads and fashions” into motion; Mars/Uranus conjunctions set cycles of collective awakening into motion; Mars/Chiron conjunctions set cycles of new types of healing and mentoring into motion; Mars/Saturn conjunctions set cycles of Dharma/Tao into motion; and Mars/Jupiter conjunctions set cycles of expansion, truth, and vision into motion.
As you can see, every two years or so at various points in the year we have new major cycles of expression set into action by Mars. Based in where these happen in our charts, we get new initiatives which take many months to fully express and be realized. Take a look at the following conjunctions to see what’s been in play in your charts the past few years. I've written about some of these conjunctions when they happened, so please consult the archives to know more.

Each of these conjunctions set off approximately 2 year cycles which were triggered by subsequent transits over these conjunction points. Each brought forth the theme related to these degrees in the house where the conjunctions happened. As you can see, in the past 10 years the Mars/Pluto conjunctions have all taken place where we have the last half of Capricorn and the first few degrees of Aquarius, while the Mars/Neptune conjunctions have all taken place in the house(s) where we have Pisces.
The past 10 years have brought us Mars/Uranus conjunctions in the last half of Aries and every decan of Taurus. All the Mars/Saturn conjunctions have fallen between 18 Scorpio and 15 Pisces in our charts, while Mars/Jupiter conjunctions always skip at least one sign.
While the Mars conjunctions with Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto show the bringing forth of initiatives related to those transpersonal global energies, the Mars conjunctions with Jupiter and Saturn directly relate to the houses those planets rule in our charts, bringing forth a new Jupiter or Saturn expression in the houses where those conjunctions fell.
Obviously there have been even larger conjunction cycles set into motion when Jupiter and Saturn conjuncted Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto, with these impacting us for decades after the conjunction. 2020 was one such year, and there are several articles in the archives on the important long wave cycles set into motion that year. Please check the archives to find out more (I also include links to those 2020 articles in every Lunation series.)
Anyway, if you’ve wondered why some periods focus more on certain areas of your chart, take a look back to see if any of these Mars cycles correlate with what ended and began during those times. Have fun!
