As most of you know, the December 2020 Solstice conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn at 1 Aquarius launched new 20 and 200 year eras. This Full Moon Lunar eclipse helps us let go very quickly as we stand on yet another “threshold” paving the way for a new individual spirituality in us.
I’ll speak more about the bigger picture after the Sabian Symbols. For now, let’s take a closer look at this “time of saying goodbye quickly” Partial Lunar eclipse Full Moon occurring at 7:34 pm PDT on September 17 at 26 Virgo/Pisces.
This Full Moon has Sun in Virgo and Moon in Pisces, indicating the Light of powerful spiritual training and service can be expressed through Pisces’ compassion, forgiveness, and willingness to allow the past to flow down the timestream. The Light of individual spiritual education can now be expressed through the perpetuation of the transition out of the old as we prepare to enter the new. This is the Virgo light of being educated spiritually expressed through a willingness to go our own way, doing our own thing even as we allow others to do their own thing.
Because the Full Moon fulfills the themes of the previous New Moon, this will bring the themes of the New Moon at 12 Virgo to fulfillment. Those involved an ongoing process of the unveiling of mysteries, and finding balance as we face hard realities. With this eclipse, we let go, let God, and release things which have been hanging out for a long time without a clear resolution. This Full Moon eclipse will help us be “led out into the world of transcendent activity” so that we may see “the poetry of our life” at the end of the end when things are falling apart.
As this Full Moon has Sun in Virgo and Moon in Pisces, the Light of Virgo’s discerning humility can be expressed through the compassion of Pisces. We enter 2 weeks of the Light of a renewed individual spiritual service and training seeking to come forth through the endings associated with this eclipse. As it is very short, we will see effects over the next 4 weeks. Monitor your expectancies as you are guided into and/or out of conditions, maintaining a balance and inner peace.
Because Virgo/Pisces is the axis of the archetype of the Healer, Shaman, and Priest(ess), we can forgive much, bless much, and be good guides, steering ourselves and others out of old ways into new lives. This teaches us the ritual forms we need as we guide ourselves and others through “the dark night of the Soul” to reach the new day where we are reborn in some way.
The Sun in Earth and the Moon in Water shows a time of the mutable Earth (practical experience) of Virgo (precise and efficient refinement of methods) expressing its need for efficient service through the mutable Water (feelings and experiences) of Pisces. This continues a run of Full Moon themes of getting clear on the individual and spiritual levels of existence.
At this time, 1 planet is in the first third of their sign, 2 planets are in the second third of their signs, and SEVEN planets are in the last third of their signs. This indicates a major emphasis in the individual, mental, and spiritual field, with almost no emphasis on the social and emotional field and only Mars active in the actional-material field
Why Are Full Moons So Important?
At a Full Moon, that which has opened since the previous New Moon surfaces in a public form, and heads toward the culmination and fruition symbolized by the second half of any cycle. First half, birth into form and field. Second half, culmination and completion of the purpose of that cycle.
That’s why it’s important to regard the New and Full Moon charts as “God’s Footprints in Time,” since one follows the other in an unending sequence of births of newer and newer seeds. The New Moons show us the seeds that will flourish under the reflected light of the Full Moon.
Full Moons heighten feelings, due to the opposition of the Moon and the Sun. We are now in a time of the year when we’ve begun numerous inner planet oppositions to the outer planets. As I mentioned in part 1, in this chart we have 3 oppositions, the Moon conjunct Neptune opposed the Sun and Mercury opposed Saturn. This creates 2 “awareness generator” zones, the first focused between 13-18 Virgo/Pisces and the second at 25-30 Virgo/Pisces
Dispositors - What's the Backdrop to the Energies?
The Sun is in Virgo, ruled by Mercury in Virgo. The Moon is in Pisces, ruled by Jupiter in Gemini. As Mercury rules Gemini, it is the ruler of the Lunation, and is very powerful in the middle of Virgo, which it also rules. With the Sun and Moon both in a “Peace Sign” special configuration made by a Grand Earth Trine anchored by the Moon/Neptune, this will be very stabilizing for planets we have in the late degrees of the Earth and Water signs (even if it accompanies losses!)
Besides the Lunation, Mercury is in Virgo, ruling itself. Venus is in Libra, so it rules itself. Mars is in Cancer, ruled by the Moon which is ruled by Jupiter. Jupiter is in Gemini, ruled by Mercury, and Saturn’s in Pisces, ruled by Jupiter. Uranus in Taurus is ruled by Venus, Pluto in Capricorn is ruled by Saturn in Pisces, and as usual, Neptune is a “standalone” planet, ruling itself.
That makes Mercury the “final dispositor” ruling most of the other planets except for Venus, Uranus, and Neptune who is also its own “final dispositor.” That makes Mercury and Venus very powerful as the backdrop to the energies of this eclipse. As Mercury is configured with Saturn and Uranus in a specializing quintile/tredecile configuration, the awareness of the opposition can be translated into personal and interactive gifts and unique blessings. Venus is the focus of the Saturn quintile Uranus, showing that as we find our inner balance, we'll also find peace and can take a new look at what we expect, making minor adjustments as needed.
By looking at how “chains of dispositors,” “final dispositors,” and “mutual reception” are in play between the planets, we get a clear picture of the backdrop for how each planet operates. You can find out more about dispositors in general, chains of dispositors, and mutual reception by going to Astrology Class – What Is A Dispositor and What Is Mutual Reception Between Two Planets?
The Magic of Venus: Friendships, Soul Mates, and Twin Flames
Venus at 24 Libra is helping us finish “paying dues” in our emotional and/or social sector, and on the degree of a butterfly emerging with a third wing on its left side, it promises the emergence of a new heart strength and a favorable (if karmically heavy) expansion of self. As it makes biquintiles to both Saturn and Uranus, Venus holds the key to transcending old forms which allow us to renew into a new inspiration. As Venus is also triseptile Neptune, be cooperative as things fall apart.
In Libra, she can be a source of dynamic specialization in how we express our Dharma/Tao and renewed individuality as the focal point of the Saturn/Uranus quintile. She should assist us to preserve our inner balance or equilibrium so that we can find peace and a balanced perspective on what we should and should not expect.
If you want to know more about how to shape your Venus power to attract better friends and relations in the future, please consider getting your copy of my book The Magic of Venus: Friendships, Soul Mates, and Twin Flames. It is the most comprehensive book on Venus ever written, and explains why we attract who we do and how to create more satisfying relationships in the future.
You will understand the foundations of long term healthy relationships and friendships, why Soul Mates come into our lives, and learn how to shape your attractive power to have better times with better people in the future. Even if you’re not looking for a partner, this book will explain why certain people with certain traits came into your life and what they taught you about yourself.
It has chapters on the qualities of each sign’s natural mate, the qualities of Venus in each sign, and when crucial choices and changes are made, affecting who we attract in the future. It was written for both astrologers and lay people, and as it has a thousand gems for better relationships, with self, others, and Source, please consider getting your copy by going to the link above! (And when you’re done, please leave a review on Amazon, since it helps the book and all other books on astrology as well!)
The Sabian Symbols for the Full Moon
This Full Moon falls at 26 Virgo and 26 Pisces. It is said that the third third (decan) of any sign deals with the individual, mental, and spiritual levels of life, and as the Lunation is in the third decan of those signs, invokes a sub-influence of Taurus/Venus (with an added dose of Mercury) and Pisces/Jupiter (with an added dose of Mars).
Since the Moon always focuses the light of the Sun in specific forms, the degree symbols for both are important. The Sun degree is the illumination or enlightenment of the Lunation, whereas the Moon shows us the potential forms that enlightenment will take. Though I’ve given you a sense of what this is about up to now, here’s where we go into detail.
The Solar degree symbol for the 26th degree of Virgo is “A boy with a censer.” According to Rudhyar’s notes from the Marc Jones class, this degree symbolizes the “ability to find inspiration in daily routine,” Hope arising in the midst of all deadness of heart,” and “rejuvenation of spirit.”
In the Astrological Mandala, he states this degree is “the first stage of actual participation in the great ritual of planetary evolution.” He says this degree is about “a type of archetypal activity. The ritual is archetypal in that it represents, in however small a field of activity, a portion of the evolving structure of the cosmos, as this structure is understood in its ‘sacred’ sense. Every such activity is performed ‘in the presence of God.’ Menial as it may be, it nevertheless acquires a sacred meaning.”
He offers that here “the individual is ‘educated,’ i.e. led out into the world of transcendent activity, the world of archetypal performance.” This is where we “learn to serve, humbly and with intense attention, in what as yet is beyond (our) spiritual understanding,” where we learn “to perform every action superpersonally,” and “learn to practice in the presence of God.” He says it falls in the span of Experimentation, and it’s the initial degree of the individual and spiritual level of the Scene of Perpetuation in the Act of Stabilization.
Dr. Marc E. Jones, creator of the Sabian Symbols, states that this is a symbol of “individual initiative as a basic dynamic in the universal scheme of thngs, and it reveals itself most simply in(our) positive and necessarily self-seeking outreach to the world (we) would claim for (ourselves.) He says here we make our “conscious appeal to God, since it is a divine being which provides the over-all unity (we) recognize and would enlist for (our) aspiration.”
He continues that our “motive is spiritual because 9We) know (we) must share any reality (we) would care to possess. He gives us the keyword RAPTURE, and he says when operating in a positive manner, this degree is “a completeness of self-dedication and an achievement grounded in a consistent worthiness of living.”
The Lunar Sabian Symbol for the 26th degree of Pisces is “A New Moon that divides its influences.” In his masterwork The Astrology of Personality, where Rudhyar uses the original Dr. Jones' class notes on the symbols, he says this is a degree of “Polyphony of values as (we live) at various levels of consciousness,” “inner call to realization,” and “transmutation of meaning.”
In the Astrological Mandala, he states the keynote is "a keen appreciation of the value of individualized responses to any challenge of life.” He notes that this symbol is one of confronting the fact that each individual gets to respond to any cosmic pulse in their own way. Each will “react according to their own personal characters,” where any spiritual “impulse will lead these varied personalities to take equally varied steps.”
He goes on to state this symbols is about actualizing human potential, leading to “a realization of the fallacy of totalitarianism,” because each individual must be free to respond according to their inner nature and not external rules. He says it falls in the span of Protection, and it’s the initial degree of the individual spiritual level of the Scene of Perpetuation in the Act of Capitalization.
Dr. Marc E. Jones, creator of the Sabian Symbols, states that this is a “symbol of universal initiative as a basic dynamic in any personal scheme of things, and it reveals itself most simply in (our) instinctive and often blind outreach to the reality in which (we) participate.” He continues that our action “must be tentative” until we achieve some sort of “true self-discovery,” with this phase making “a fine skill of uncertainty” and a refusal to commit except as we encounter “a full response to (our) deeper realization and ultimate motives.”
He offers us the keyword FINESSE. He says when operating in a positive manner, this degree is "a thoroughgoing capitalization on life’s transitions and an effective development of every emerging potentiality of self."
From these symbols it seems the Light of this Full Moon will help us be educated in a “superpersonal ritual” where we are doing some sort of “transcendent activity.” This will be expressed in understanding that each gets to do their own thing in their own way, and we shouldn’t seek to control or be controlled in how we or others respond to a “cosmic pulse.”
We’re in an Era of Overlapping Capricorn and Aquarius Cycles
As you know by now, we had numerous important long wave conjunctions in January 2020 which were set into motion in March 2020, including a 12 year cycle and a 33 year cycle! Sun, Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto all made conjunctions in Capricorn in January and March 2020 which were activated by Mars in March 2020. Mars completed its run at its conjunction with Saturn at 1 Aquarius which also set long wave preliminary Aquarian structures into play which are expanding and currently taking shape for the next 16-17 years. The next few weeks renews that Aquarius pulse, and promises 2024 to be a very “Aquarian” year!
We’re seeing the competition between the Capricorn and Aquarian cycles play out in the world between the regressives and the progressives, between the forces of control and the forces which resist control, and between the materialists and the idealists. The Capricorn cycles will be in play for many years to come, but by mid-century they will wane while the Aquarian cycles will have become dominant.
That “Great Compression” of planets in early 2020 created a very crowded house in a very narrow span of degrees, impacting where we have late Capricorn for many years to come. Add the three conjunctions of Jupiter with Pluto as it transited back and forth over the January and March degree points, and we’ve had a lot of long wave Pluto energies expanded which will show effects over the next decade! If you’re wondering how this Great Compression and those to come will impact us, please check out the linked articles on the bottom of Part 1 of this series published yesterday.
TransPluto, Divine Mother, and the Tests of Human Redemption
I’ve included this section for many years to keep you all aware of the workings of Divine Mother on our Earth in this Age in Transition. Rather than simply reprint it each month, I created this material as a separate article unto itself a while back. If you want to know more about the vast spiritual field coaxing us toward a great redemption of the promise of Life itself, please take a new look at TransPluto, Divine Mother, and the Spiritual Lessons of 2024. We have now returned to a time where we are again learning to get over our preconceptions and greet others with an open mind.
*********
At the 2020 World Teacher Full Moon of Sun in Gemini and Moon in Sagittarius I gave you a universal prayer/meditation offered to us by the Tibetan Master D.K. in April 1945 at the end of the war. Tens of millions around the world do this prayer every Full Moon, tuning into the Whole which we ALL are together. I said it every day for many years, and still say it every Full Moon. (It was a real trip to see eyes suddenly open and/or lightbulbs go on over people’s heads when I did it countless times riding the NYC subways when I lived there in the early 80s!)
In 1976 I changed a few words to make it more universal. For your consideration,
The Great Invocation
From the point of Light within the mind of God
Let Light stream forth into the minds of All,
Let Light descend on EarthFrom the point of Love within the heart of God
Let Love stream forth into the hearts of All
May Christ return to EarthFrom the center where the Will of God is known
Let Purpose guide the little Wills of All
The Purpose which the Masters know and serveFrom the center which we call the Human Race
Let the Plan of Love and Light work out
And may it seal the door where evil dwells.Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth.
Again, as I’ve offered you many times before, when you see the title "The Christ" if you are so inclined please substitute "World Teacher," "Bodhisattva," "Imam Madhi," "Krishna," “Kristos,” "Avalokiteshvara," "Maitreya," "Messiah," or any other term used to describe this Great Being. And if you substitute “Enlightened Ones” or “Wise Ones” for “Masters” I doubt it would offend anyone.
See you soon with part 3 covering aspects, planetary sequencing, and other important factors in this “culminating” Full Moon.
