Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto are components of the “invisible spiritual field” of global forces which transform us all. Different generations face lessons related to each and all of these at different times in their lives.
That’s because each of these moves at different speeds through different signs. That variation in orbital speed at key points in their cycles impact different generations at different times. Because of who’s alive on Earth at this time, some generations pack in a lot more spiritual lessons in the course of their lives.
I last gave this to you almost 5 years ago. The timing on spiritual unfoldment is an extremely important factor in global and personal human evolution. The dance of the outer planets show us which zodiacal sectors of reality are in play spiritually at any given time, and these transit positions hold their own unique relationship to where they were when we were born.
Pluto
Because of the shape of Pluto’s orbit, it moves very quickly when in the Scorpio part of the zodiac, but very slowly when in the Taurus part of the zodiac. If each part of the zodiac represents a span of experience, you can see that the more signs Pluto transits in your life, the more Plutonic experiences you will have. This provides us a variety of “underworld” experiences, and many different ways to purify ourselves as it moves through the houses in our charts.
To illustrate, someone born in 1824 had Pluto in early Aries. Pluto entered Taurus in 1853, and finally entered Gemini in 1884. It entered Cancer 1914, Leo in 1938, Virgo in 1956, Libra in 1971, Scorpio in 1983, Sagittarius in 1995, and Capricorn in 2008. It will enter Aquarius in 2024, Pisces in 2044, and Aries in 2068. It will transit Taurus again beginning 2097, Gemini in 2128, and Cancer 2158, followed by Leo in 2183.
So those born in the 1820s had only experienced Pluto’s transit of Aries and Taurus by the time they turned 60. Those born in the early 1880s had Pluto in late Taurus, but by the time they turned 60 they had experienced Pluto in Gemini, Cancer, and Leo. Those born in the 1940s have experienced Pluto in Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, and Sagittarius by age 60. Those born in 2010 will experience Pluto in Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces, and early Aries by age 60. And those born in 2050 will know only Pluto in Pisces, Aries, and Taurus by age 60.
As you can see, people born 200 years ago had to deal only with Pluto’s energies in 2 signs, but the generation born in Dane Rudhyar and Marc Jones’ time (1888-1895) got Pluto in Gemini, Cancer, Leo, and Virgo before the age of 70. Quite a difference to experience Pluto’s radical transformational energies in 4 signs instead of two! I was born with Pluto at 18 Leo, and now that it’s at 30 Capricorn, I’m at the waxing pentelftile in its larger cycle, showing I’m at a Plutonic point of faith never known to any generation for hundreds of years.
Some generations never know a Pluto trine, or even a square, due to the lengths of time it spends in various signs. Those born in 1849 had Pluto in late Aries, and by 1899 it was only in mid-Gemini, a span of about 45 degrees. So millions of people in those groups never even knew a sextile, much less a square or trine.
By contrast, it was perihelion (fastest speed) in Scorpio, so my Pluto in Leo generation has had transiting Pluto move very fast through our houses. My first square occurred in 1990 when I was 39. It's already made quincunxes (150d) to those born 1953-55 and will be in an opposition by 2035 when I’m 84! So I get a Pluto opposition AND a Uranus return if I live to that age.
The gen born now with Pluto around 30 Capricorn will have the first Pluto square in 2094-2097 when they're in their 70s. They will likely not know a trine and certainly won’t experience an opposition! So it’s clear that different generations have different transpersonal lessons and rates of unfoldment of those collective lessons.
Neptune
Neptune has fewer anomalies in its orbit, and so except for a few variations in the whole cycle, most people experience Neptune’s transit through 5 signs by the time they hit 60. This shows that we all get the waxing aspects of transiting Neptune to our natal Neptune in the course of our lives. As Neptune indicates our positioning within collective consciousness, it’s easy to see how some Neptunian sub-generations get along with other sub-gens, and do not get along with other sub-gens.
Neptune in Libra does not have the same collective ideal as those with Neptune in Capricorn, and Neptune in Scorpio people have a much different collective ideal than those with Neptune in Aquarius! Of course, the earlier sub-generation has to go through those “collective squares” as part of their evolution, and while the elders will have experienced the collective energies of the younger, the younger will never experience the collective energies of the older.
This works personally, as well as generally. While Neptune and Pluto indicate the generational and sub-generational energies of the greater global atmosphere and its transformational necessities, Uranus and Saturn help us bring individual meaning and a sense of crafting our purpose within those larger atmospheres. While different blends of Neptune and Pluto signs have radically different life experiences based in the speed of those planets after we are born, these play out on the world stage in in countless ways via the individualization pulses of Uranus as they are shaped within Saturn’s binding rings of time.
Uranus and Saturn
Saturn and Uranus are involved with the dance of individualization and construction of “The Great Work” of perfecting our personalities to become the vehicles of our Divine Purpose. We reveal our higher purpose as we respond to the larger Neptunian and Plutonic forces at work within us and in the outer world via how we navigate the Uranian and Saturnine cycles in our lives. Neptune and Pluto are broad invisible spiritual influences which are brought into focus and given meaning by how we awaken by Uranus and how we choose to respond according to our Saturn.
We all have Saturn cycles of approximately 29+ years and Uranus cycles of approximately 84 years. These Uranus and Saturn cycles are more or less “locked in” for each of us since we all have Uranian shifts around 21, 42, 63, and 84, with small variances based in our natal position. Each one of us experiences the lower (waxing) square, the opposition, and the upper (waning) square to our natal Uranus if we live to our 60s. Each of these is a point of emergent individuality with the ability to revolutionize our lives and become more free to live our individual Destiny.
We also all have Saturnian shifts around 7, 15, 22, 29, 36, 43, and points beyond. I explain these shifts in detail in my book Saturn: Spiritual Master, Spiritual Friend with tables on when each generation’s shifts occurred and explanation about the lessons involved and how to use those crucial points of shift to shape our Destiny according to our understanding and wisdom up to that point. What Uranus awakens, Saturn shapes according to our limitations and willingness to grow at any given point in life.
So please take a new look at the different sign changes for Neptune and Pluto in the past, and see how they emphasized different transpersonal spiritual lessons in the areas of your life where they were transiting at the time. Then see how the Uranus cycles awakened individual elements of your Being during those broader collective energies, with an eye to how you used Saturn to shape your spiritual expression during those phases of experience.
