Venus leaves its transit of compassionate, empathetic, and mysterious Pisces at 11:57 pm PST on February 3 and enters direct, dynamic, and fast-paced Aries, where it goes retrograde at 11 Aries on March first, and then retrogrades back through early Aries until it re-enters Pisces on March 27. It will go direct at 25 Pisces on April 12, and remain in that sign until it re-enters Aries on April 30 and races through that sign, finally entering gentle Taurus, one of the signs it rules, on June 6. What does Venus’ initial passage through Aries hold for all of us?
This brings the next shift in the energy of planets and houses we have in Taurus and Libra. Venus entered Capricorn in mid-November and stayed through early December, where we were trained in forms of social power and learned appreciation for practical ways of relating and a new maturity in our interactions. Venus then entered Aquarius in early January, bringing lightness, brightness, friendliness, and detachment to our relationships, expanding our social effectiveness and an awareness of greater ways to contribute to a greater good.
Venus in Aquarius can seem very impersonal in its likes and dislikes and very fixed in its tastes and opinions. When Venus entered Pisces in early January, we moved into our social sense being “impersonally personal,” as well as idealistic. Venus in Pisces deepens the broader vision while it releases all which doesn’t serve that larger vision. We’ve all been opened to a greater and more compassionate “urge to merge” while learning that if we sense strange or conflicted feelings, our emotional body may be picking up on someone else’s feelings, whether near or “at a distance.”
As the trip around the zodiac can be seen in terms of “dual pulses,” initiated by the Fire and Air signs and “confirmed” by the Earth and Water signs, we’ve completed the Aquarius/Pisces pulse. This finishes the spiritual/transpersonal sector of the zodiac, as it takes the social experience of Venus in Leo, Virgo, Libra, and Scorpio into another dimension of human experience. The balancing, refining energy of Venus in Libra, deepened in magnetic attraction/repulsion in Scorpio, entered a new realm in Sagittarius, organized into personal power in Capricorn, leading to a wider vision of how to apply that power for the greatest good in Aquarius. We have completed what began in Aquarius and now dance between the new pulse of Aries and one last look at Pisces in April.
Venus’ Nature
Venus now transits impulsive fiery Aries, the sign opposite Libra, the sign Venus rules. That makes Venus in “exile,” meaning as far away from its “home nature” as it can be. While Venus likes balanced, nuanced interactions, Aries is blunt, impulsive, and direct in its affections. Venus likes calm, and Aries is anything but calm!
Venus in Aries is a bit more agitated than Venus likes, since its Taurus quality likes comfort and ease, while Libra likes things measured and balanced. Venus does not like impulsiveness, and Venus in Aries can certainly be impulsive. However impulsive Venus in Aries can be, it’s also direct, sincere, and genuine, even if a bit jumpy.
Venus in Aries is straightforward, and brings its Venusian values, wisdom, and occasionally folly to expression in the “ready, fire, aim” impulsive genuineness of Aries. Venus in Aries leaps forward into relationships, opportunities, and is quick to like and equally quick to “unlike” its objects of attraction. This position is good for getting reflections about what we like and why we like it, and what about us is or is not attracting what we want and value.
In Aries, Venus is in a Fire sign. Fire is an element of mixed favorability, since it’s harmonious to its Libra side but the Earth of Taurus can put the fire out. While Aries opposes its Libra nature, it is still favorable due to its Cardinality and sharing the axis of the Archetype of “The Lover.” It’s also somewhat favorable as Aries is adjacent to Taurus and both share the same “dual pulse” in the zodiacal system.
In Aries, Venus harmonizes with planets in the Air and Fire signs, and brings those with Venus in Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn to a turning point in their relationships. Venus in Aries is in its own 7th sign, as per its rulership of Libra, and in its own 12th sign, as per its rulership of Taurus. In its own 7th it dances with how it expresses itself in equal relationships, and in its own 12th, finds its motivation to express its sense of fairness, justice, and balance in straightforward ways.
It should be good for people with Sun or Moon in Aries, because when Venus comes to visit your Lights, you could find yourself beholding something or someone of great beauty or value who can illuminate you or care for you in Venusian ways. Because it is the backdrop to how planets in Taurus and Libra express themselves, it now moves away from the ambivalent empathic way of being with others in Pisces into a more direct and unedited way of being with others. Just beware of grabbing at quickly passing fancies.
Venus entering Aries will give us a “forward motion” look at the new initiatives of Aries experienced by the ruler of any planets or houses we have in Taurus or Libra. So look at it as the front end of a new set of likes, a new social promise, new values, and new perspectives.
So welcome to the gateway to a new Venusian experience which will lead us to a renewed freshness in our interactions if we just face forward, leaving past ghosts behind. Since all relationships lead us to a greater realization of what works and doesn’t work for us, by seeing people with new eyes and a new attitude we can move into a better future.
Enjoy the experience of Venus bringing more energy, impulsiveness, bluntness, and honesty to our interactions. Venus has now commenced a new journey through the signs, bringing beauty, value, and appreciation to our Aries sectors of life, as well as a measure of energy, impulsiveness, bluntness, and honesty to our interactions. Then it will go retrograde in that sign, which I’ll write about in a few weeks.
A Brief Look at How We Got Here
Venus in Aries brings yet another a turning point in the voyage of Venus through all the zodiacal signs. So let’s take a look at the past Venus cycle to get a sense of perspective about how we got here and where we’re going.
In early April 2024, Venus left Pisces and entered Aries. Venus in Pisces feels everything there is to feel, while Venus in Aries feels what is immediate and passing, leaping forward into relationships and quick to like and “unlike” things. Venus in Aries opens new likes, new values, new appreciation, and more directness in all interactions. Last year Venus occupied Aries from April 4-29, when it entered Taurus.
Venus in Taurus savors each moment. Venus in Taurus likes what it likes and is not inclined to try new things unless they’re easy and pleasant. While Venus in Aries is highly agitated, Venus in Taurus likes comfort and ease. Last year Venus occupied Taurus the first 3 ½ weeks of May; this year it will transit Taurus between early June and early July.
When Venus was in Gemini it began a new “pulse,” and we experienced a more curious, open and adaptable approach to our likes, loves, and fancies. Venus in Gemini gives a “love of learning,” a love of exploring all the ideas there are to explore which capture the imagination. It is good with words and ideas, and solves information puzzles by seeing ways to put them together. We learned new Venusian likes, values, and the social promise in Gemini. Last year Venus occupied Gemini between late May through mid-June; this year it will transit Gemini in July.
Venus then moved into Cancer, giving opportunities to secure what nurtured us and allowed us to have deeper relationships. Venus in Cancer loves deep, tender connections with people and experience. While it is VERY sensitive, it is also the most caring placement for Venus, because it rules Taurus, the exaltation of the Moon. The Moon does well in Venus signs, and Venus does well in Lunar signs (I include Leo, as the Moon is the spiritual ruler of Leo, as I explain in Saturn, Spiritual Master, Spiritual Friend. Last year Venus transited Cancer between mid-June and early July.
Venus in Leo began a new pulse between mid-July and early August last year, taking the introversion and sensitivity of Cancer and turning it outward in creative and dramatic forms of expression. Venus in Virgo for almost all of August completed this dual pulse by learning to value expressing “significant form” and “divine Discernment.” Leo gave us a new enthusiasm and sense of heartfelt liking and loving of things and people, and Virgo helped us find the place and function of each detail in our lives.
Venus was in Libra began a new “dual pulse” in its home sign of Libra. Venus in Libra values and expresses more balanced, reasoned, beautiful and “symmetric” interactions and experiences. It is interactive, gracious, and wants to make forms more pleasing. Venus completes or “secures” that pulse in Scorpio, reorienting our social instincts toward a deeper connection with self and others, and a greater intensity of all our interactions with the world. Venus in Scorpio taught us what we can attract and how to do it, as well as what we cannot hold on to because the magnetism is no longer there. Last year Venus was in Libra between late August and late September, and in Scorpio between late September and mid-October.
Venus in Sagittarius from mid-October through mid-November brought a new pulse, which will be completed during its time in Capricorn. Venus in Sagittarius brings openness and a willingness to dance, appreciating the spaces which allow us freedom to explore each other, and seeing how what we value feeds our future or not. It values freedom and higher, broader truths, whether others agree with them or not.
Venus in Sagittarius then takes those truths and potential futures and organizes values and interactions into forms of personal power in Capricorn. That love of propriety and maturity in relationships naturally lead us to see our power in the broader context of society. Venus in Capricorn teaches us about the value of personal power and more mature interactions. Venus transited Capricorn between mid-November and early December.
Venus’ in Aquarius leads us to value or appreciation for our ability to make a greater contribution to others or society as a whole, with an ease of maturity and an ability to feel a part of a greater group contribution. Venus in Aquarius teaches us how to enjoy more of a sense of being part of a greater group work. Venus transited Aquarius between early December and early January.
Venus then takes the vision and affection for a greater good into the depth waters of Pisces, where it feels all the empathy and compassion there is to feel while understanding the value of saying goodbye, forgiving much as it passes down the stream of Time. Venus in Pisces gives us a renewed swim in the ocean of infinite compassion. Venus occupied Pisces most of January, and now enters Aries again and goes retrograde. It will retrograde back into late Pisces in late March and stay there through the end of April.
From Here We Dance On
Venus’ entry into Aries introduces our Venusian expression to a greater appreciation and value for our ability to be genuine with others, unedited and seeing the possibilities with fresh eyes. This can help us get a new view of the inspirational possibilities at the beginning of all activity, and allows us to take the seeds of the idealism of Aquarius which grew in the connectedness in Pisces and now experience that Venusian quality as it breaks the surface of our garden to be cultivated in this next “whole cycle.”
This favors directness, but be careful about being too outspoken, straightforward, or blunt in your offerings. The first hit may or may not be accurate, so don’t take things personally and try to stay on track with what inspires you either in situations, others, or even your own values within whatever situation you’re in. And remember that just because you met someone and like them at first glance doesn’t mean you’re obligated to dance with them.
Venus in Aries is like a dance: “Jump in, jump back, jump around, and jump out.” Then the issue is whether to jump back in or not! Find the value in all things new which immediately call to your values and affections. You’ve seen the “seed ideal,” let go of a lot up to now, felt your connections near and far, and now stand ready to simply “be yourself” in your interactions. Venus has been heralding the path of the Sun, and once it goes retrograde, it will make an “Inferior conjunction” with the Sun at 3 Aries on March 22.
As our Venus response evolves, we have the capability to enjoy the subtle pleasures in life to the fullest. No longer over-indulgent or self-denying, we can choose what to like and find a rich appreciation for the banquet of life experiences which are ours for the enjoying! The Magic of Venus is available to all who want to improve all their relationships and join with Soul Mates to bring forth the best of our Higher Self.
The Magic of Venus: Friendships, Soul Mates, and Twin Flames
Each transit Venus makes through a sign adds to our Venusian experience, enabling us to shape our likes and affections toward newer and better values and relationships. Venus’ duality is Wisdom/Folly. By our Venus responses, we are led out of misguided values, vanities, and ways of interacting into the wisdom of “Right Relationship.”
In esoteric philosophy, Venus is said to be the elder sister of the Earth, teaching us to refine what is of value and leave the superficial and vain imaginings of the ego behind, just as humanity is learning globally at this time in history. Venus is definitely part of the equation in our personal and interpersonal happiness.
Because Venus changing signs shows us our own changing tastes as well as the changing tastes of those around us, you can find out more about what you like and why you like it, as well as how Venus functions in Pisces, Aries, Taurus, Gemini, and all the signs in my book The Magic of Venus: Friendships, Soul Mates, and Twin Flames.
